Obama Tweets: ‘Still a BFD’

Ah! What decorum! A point worth noting was made by another tweet that followed…

“The last time Democrats gloated this hard after a health care victory, they lost 60 House seats.”

Although at first glance Judge Roberts’ judicial gymnastics provide a victory for the socialist, the long term repercussions of this decision also offered some hope for their opponents as well.

Judge Robert’s ruling leaves the dark cloud of Obamacare over our heads, and that is disappointing, but this dark cloud appears to have a silver lining as well. By calling the penalties a tax and declaring that the law would be unconstitutional if the Commerce Clause was invoked, the court breaks the stride of the statist most alluded to excuse for over reach.

In the future when the Federal Government claims to be wanting to do something for us (or on to us), they will have to own up to the fact that to do so, the taxes will be raised not just on the rich, but on the poor and the middle classes as well, this will hopefully serve as a deterrent for future demagogues, and tone down the class warfare rhetoric, even if ever so lightly.

Equally as important was the decision to tell the Federal Government that it could not use the denial of Medicaid payments to states that choose to disobey their mandates. By so doing the court denies the Federal Government the ability to black mail the states into submission, thus removing the “Chicago Way” off the table, at least overtly, and momentarily reversing a 75 years trend of rulings that have eroded the states’ 10th amendment’s rights.

The ruling also throws the issue back to those most responsible for it, the electorate. In what appears to be a variation of Ignorantia juris non excusat (“ignorance of the law does not excuse”), the Supreme Court is telling us that elections have consequences, and that it is not the court’s role to save us from ourselves. If an ignorant or misinformed electorate voted into office the architects of this monstrosity, then it is that same better informed electorate’s responsibility to undo their mistake in a few short months from now.

After the initial incredulity of Judge Robert’s convoluted opinion, I have come to the realization that there will likely be several positive consequences to all of this. The resolve of those of us who oppose socialism has just been exponentially intensified, the Supreme Court itself is off the table as a leftist’s propaganda rallying cry, and the appeal for personal responsibility emanating from the highest court of the land will be heeded by the majority of Americans.

The same personal responsibility that conservatives believe in, the one that is required of all citizens of free societies, where is no one else’s business but our own to become better informed and to actively participate in the defense of the freedoms and individual rights that we enjoy.

With God’s help, on November 6, 2012, we will answer that call.

I agree with this point:

The ruling also throws the issue back to those most responsible for it, the electorate. In what appears to be a variation of Ignorantia juris non excusat (“ignorance of the law does not excuse”), the Supreme Court is telling us that elections have consequences, and that it is not the court’s role to save us from ourselves. The Kelo decision was also of this ilk.
And, to be fair, over 1/2 of all states have realized this and passed laws which make doing a “Kelo” illegal in their boundaries.
BUT, here, with ObamaCare, is where Obama is playing an angle not playable before: Obama has brought 50% of all Americans under some form of government assistance.
And he is even making us all pay for the advertizing so he can get MORE Americans on government assistance!
In other words, for the 1st time in our history, we have as many IN the wagon as are PULLING the wagon!
A great quote which is under dispute as to author says,

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. ”

Maggie Thatcher once pointed out the folly of this when she said: “The problem with socialism is that, sooner or later, you always run out of other people’s money.”

Maybe voters will demand better vetting of their candidates in the future instead of voting for the flim flam man!

Hmmmm, doesn’t BFD stand for BAD F’n Deal?

@Randy: Morons are morons, nothing will EVER change until we actually DEMAND education that includes the massive failures of Marxism and the human cost of it. The blacks whine about being ‘victims’ of whitey and the Jews just live in LaLa land, which IMHO is a genetic thing going way way way back.

In my home city if the original Mayor Daily was still alive, he would have taken this clown and slapped him up side of the head with a two by four! Democrat or not, Mayor Daily would never have suffered a blithering Anti-American fool such as this President is!

Having said that, I agree with NanG above. In the end, it is the electorate that has allowed our country to begin it’s slide into the abyss! “We The People” are in total fully responsible for this fiasco and in turn are now getting what we richly deserve! We refused to take one of our most sacred rights ( and yes, I know I’ve gone on about this more than once) seriously, the right to vote! So in a way, although stretched to say the least, Roberts did in fact throw it back to the people responsible for this! US!

The real question now is are their enough of “we The People” still out there that take what we have been given seriously or are we already at the point of brain dead zombies who can only take!

** Obama Tweets: ‘Still a BFD’ Ah! What decorum!**

I know, I know! I was clutching my pearls too! 🙂

What I don’t get is the flip flopping by the President and ilk, ….It’s a Penalty, it’s a Tax, no, it’s NOT a Tax wtf?? Is/Was the President lying to us?, OR is it that “he” isn’t even sure of the “tax” – “not” a tax, implications of this monstrosity???!

It does not sound like the President is even sure of what he passed …. AND, IF the President isn’t sure, as it proves? in the well documented interview with George Stephanopoulos….can Americans even trust anything ‘about’ this bill [the President himself ??], aside from the bit’s and pieces that sound Oh, so good to people? ….Notice in the in the title of the bill it also says “and for other Purposes”??

There could be ramifications down the road we will never pull out of… and what scares me is the ‘average’ brainwashed voter, brainwashed as in the Government only wants to do good things for us…. As if Government poverty and dependency [and now health care] is a good thing… we have witnessed those outcomes…

I’ve asked a few people how they felt about the decision….”Well, it will be good because they can’t deny you insurance based on existing medical conditions..there are ‘some’ other good things in ‘it’ “… to “I don’t want to talk about it” to “great, we are all in deep do do now”… to “their out of there in Nov” -we hope!

What needs to happen now is to drive home the exceedingly bad ‘big’ picture of this fiasco…

Makes you think…a gang banger, criminal – gets shot up, stabbed what have you..they take him to the hospital…said gang banger, criminal wasn’t Taxed [didn’t buy Government health care] do they just let him die?? How does ‘that’ work? Or do we have to go through another 20 years of the ‘fairness’ of this bill and amend it to death?

Faith7, if this bill survives our Republic will not; the ability to implement changes to government mandates through normal lawful political processes will not exist 20 years from now, if this bill survives.
The only firewall that stands between us and tyranny is our constitution, and it would have been terminally compromised if this bill survives.
We will as Reagan said, telling our children about once upon a time when Americans were free, but don’t despair, get energized!!!

P Acosta#9 – Great Point P Acosta! Energized ?? You bet I am! I Love my Country. No, it isn’t perfect…but, it is as perfect as any other country could hope for… furthermore, I don’t believe it needs to be “Fundamentally Transformed” either!!!….Have a great week!
