He’s directly involved [Reader Post]

Dick Morris appeared on Fox and Friends this morning and was eerily prescient. The crew was discussing Fast and Furious and the possible Eric Holder Contempt of Congress vote that looms. Someone asked Morris what he thought was going on and Morris said that it seemed that Obama was going to allow Holder to take the hits on his own over F&F. Otherwise Obama would drop a cloak of Executive Privilege over the documents, but that would in turn make it appear as though Barack Obama was directly involved in the mess.

And now it appears he is directly involved.

President Obama on Wednesday asserted executive privilege over documents sought by a House panel ahead of a scheduled panel vote where Attorney General Eric Holder is expected to be held in contempt of Congress.

It’s the first time Obama has used executive privilege since taking office. A White House aide said the president had gone longer without asserting the privilege in a congressional dispute than any other president in the last three decades.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), the chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said his panel was “evaluating” a letter from Deputy Attorney General James Cole asserting the privilege that arrived minutes before Issa’s committee was to begin contempt proceedings. The vote was to take place Wednesday after a last-ditch effort to reach a deal over documents related to Operation Fast and Furious failed on Tuesday night.

Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley asked some pointed questions about the assertion of Privilege:

““The assertion of executive privilege raises monumental questions. How can the President assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can the President exert executive privilege over documents he’s supposedly never seen? Is something very big being hidden to go to this extreme? The contempt citation is an important procedural mechanism in our system of checks and balances. The questions from Congress go to determining what happened in a disastrous government program for accountability and so that it’s never repeated again.”

Watch and listen to this hypocrite be critical of hiding behind Executive Privilege

The man who just can’t shut up when it comes to some national secrets clearly doesn’t want something discovered. Now it seems highly likely that this scandal goes right to the top. Yet if not, Obama has learned nothing from Watergate.

It’s like Obama said

“I think the American people deserve to know what was going on.”

Obama has denied any knowledge of the tragic gun running operation. Either Executive Privilege does not apply or Obama is directly involved and has lied about it.

It’s really hitting the fan

No sooner does Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee jump to Holder’s defense and tries to pin F&F falsely on Bush

than Holder retracts that assertion

@ilovebeeswarzone: Holder likely will resign and plead guilty before the end of Obama’s term. Obama will then pardon him. He will lose his law license like Clinton did for lying, but he will see no jail time.

hi, well that still is not an honorable way to go,
is in it.
and a bad publicity for him, and OBAMA WILL LOSE SOME FEATHERS

Again you remain mind numbingly stupid. No, Issa, as an individual, has no subpeona power, but the Congressional oversight committee he heads does.

Congress is a co-equal branch of the Federal government. I suggest you look up what “co-equal” means. It means that the Office of the President doesn’t have more power than Congress, or the Judicial. It means that if Congress, though an oversight committee, wants to subpeona witnesses and/or documents, it has the ability to do so.

Now, you can continue your dance of the Dervish, but the law is the law, and Eric Holder, and perhaps Obama, violated the law.

As to proof that the President, and White House officials, had anything to do with the attempted coverup of F & F, you can wait for that to surface. But remember, Eric Holder is NOT a White House official (as in aide or advisor) but is the lead prosecutor who represents ALL Americans, not just Barack Hussein Obama, Jr. I suggest you read the decisions handed down in both United States vs. Nixon and Epsy.

that is good and informative, they should teach that in school to the young who need to know more,
so they can judge better who is right or lying to them, because they have a rare view now on the powers of CONGRESS OVER A GONE AWOL HOLDER AND OBAMA, IT HELP THEM
thank you

Retire05 re#154 For a self proclaimed “lady” you spend an inordinate amount of time calling posters stupid and falsely accusing me of being a liar and a “phony Marine.” Aye has seen my DD-214.

Without an apology forthcoming we’ll assume you to be the liar on this post.

@Greggie : What are you whining about?

I quoted you directly in my post #136 where you displayed your ignorance of our system of checks and balances and separation of powers, here.

Unless you are trying to walk back your claim that the House of Representatives doesn’t have “every RIGHT to see every single document related to this or any other matter they wish to investigate,” maybe you ought to give up while you are behind. I thoroughly proved your insipid statement to be incorrect.

Now you want to try and switch what I said in comment #136 about other comments you’ve made. Sorry, but I’m not your nurse-maid. You’ll have to get your education about our system of government from someone else; I don’t have the patience for you.

Obama cannot shield all involved in this clusterf*ck. You can only transfer so many NSA staffers to Iraq. You can’t muzzle all of the BATF. You can’t deny that arms went to the domestic enemies of a sovereign state, betraying a nominal ally. You can’t deny that Obama/Holder/BATF treacherously betrayed BPA Brian Terry and ICEA Jaime Zapata by putting arms in the hands of their murderers. The political nature of F& F is glaringly apparent and whatever political gain sought by the Obama cabal was never worth the life of one American. Your blind belief and defense of this criminal betrayal does nothing to change the fact that F& F betrayed every lawman in the border states and every U.S. agent operating in Mexico, who BATF deigned not alert to the very real threat this operation presented. Your sad efforts mark you as a shallow, foolish apologist for a regime with no respect for the sovereignty of Mexico, the safety of American and Mexican citizens and no value at all for the lives and well being of sworn law enforcement officers. Obama/Holder/BATF lied and continue to lie to prevent the entirety of their betrayal from being exposed. Their time is coming.

@Richard Wheeler:

#1) I have never “self-proclaimed” myself a “lady.” Perhaps you would like to show that quote you seem to think exists?

#2) Since you seem to be here a lot, I would have thought you would have caught the “mind numbingly stupid” connection. Guess not.

#3) A guy once told me he had seen a chubracabra. I couldn’t prove he didn’t, but he couldn’t prove he did.
