Mark Daily's memory continues to inspire hearts and minds to this day…

Matt Gallagher:

In November of 2007, the British author Christopher Hitchens wrote a nonfiction piece for Vanity Fair titled “A Death in the Family.” If you haven’t read it, I suggest that you do. New York University’s esteemed journalism school nominated it as one of the decade’s top 80 works of journalism. It’s about the death of a young lieutenant in Iraq, and the resulting effects on his family, his community, and the author. The lieutenant’s name was Mark Daily, a 2005 graduate of U.C.L.A., and he was my friend.

New Flopping Aces Memorial Day Video

Alex Horton on Memorial Day:

“many incorrectly thank Vets or active duty folks for their service. While appreciated, it’s misdirected. That’s what Veterans Day is for. Instead, they should take some time and remember the spirit of the country and the dedication of those men and women who chose to pick up arms. They never came home to be thanked, and only their memory remains.”

Whatever It Takes: Once Again

I was at a loss for something appropriate to write for this special day. I know many sad stories that will go to the grave with me. Don’t misread that line. I am not a hero, but many heroes came to me to talk. I mainly listened. I am an excellent listener. Hopefully, I helped some of them by listening and offering a few lame words of encouragement.

I am offering you this previously published story to avoid reaching deeper. It is a story that is painful enough for me. I hope, by reading these few lines, you will appreciate our brave servicemen and women a little more. I wish I could do more than saying thanks and shaking hands, but that seems to be the best that I can manage for now.

Surviving Invisible Wounds from the "Elusive, Silent Enemy"

For a year, they had navigated minefields and ducked bullets, endured tedium inside barbed-wired outposts and stitched together the frayed seams of long-distance relationships. One would think that going home would be the easiest thing troops could do.

But it is not so simple. The final weeks in a war zone are often the most dangerous, as weary troops get sloppy or unfocused. Once they arrive home, alcohol abuse, traffic accidents and other measures of mayhem typically rise as they blow off steam.

About Time…Kyoto Treaty Dies As Four Nations Refuse To Sign New Pledge

This treaty should of died a long time ago:

Russia, Japan and Canada told the G8 they would not join a second round of carbon cuts under the Kyoto Protocol at United Nations talks this year and the US reiterated it would remain outside the treaty, European diplomats have said.

The future of the Kyoto Protocol has become central to efforts to negotiate reductions of carbon emissions under the UN’s Framework Convention on Climate Change, whose annual meeting will take place in Durban, South Africa, from November 28 to December 9.

E-Verify, The Epitaph Of Illegal Immigration

The Supreme Court on Thursday, may have just written the epitaph for the Illegal Alien in the United States. Not so surprisingly, the justices voted straight down party lines for a 5 – 3 decision; with Justice Kagan recusing herself, because of her prior role as a solicitor general for the Obama Administration.

In effect, the Supreme Court ruled, Arizona is within its rights to require employers to check the citizenship status of workers through a government data base. The U.S. Chamber of Commerce sued Arizona over the law, maintaining that immigration enforcement is a purview of the federal government.

LA Times Compares Obama IQ To Characters Portayed In Woody Allen Films

The word sycophant (A servile self-seeker who attempts to win favor by flattering influential people.) has, for the first time in history, become part of everyday conversation since the election of President Obama. You might legitimately ask why or how did this fairly obscure word become so prominent in our language. The answer lies in the blatant and continuous servile fawning over Obama by our Main Stream Media and their reliance on the Joseph Goebbels school of propaganda:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

Is Big Brother In Our Immediate Future

In 1949 George Orwell wrote 1984, a political prophecy that portrayed a Progressive Party’s ultimate achievement of its totalitarian goals in a Utopian State of complete oligarchy. This chilling account of a Utopian Dream that evolved into a Dystopia was titled, 1984. So frightening was the premise of the novel that the number 1984 became a part of our language, along with the nebulous figure of “Big Brother.”

Many who read the book breathed a sigh of relief when the year came1984 came and passed without the realization of the dreaded situations described in the book. Perhaps Orwell’s only flaw with 1984 was to predict the Progressive political ascendancy a few decades prematurely. The Chinese and Russian oligarchies were in full bloom by the late 1940s; it was within reason to assume the Totalitarian Progressive control of the United States and England in 35 years.
