Gas Roots Activism – The ‘Hope and Change’ Sticky Note Campaign

Definitely an intriguing campaign to get involved in:

Purchase a pad of large sticky notes. Write on each one, “How’s that Hope & Change working out for you?” Every time you stop to fill your vehicle with gas, place your sticky note somewhere on the pump before you drive away. DO NOT be destructive in ANY way! Place your sticky note somewhere, so as not to impede the next customer’s ability to read the pump’s digital readout.

Say What? 4/28/2011 edition [Reader Post]

Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner on what would happen if we did not raise the debt limit: “We’d have to stop making payments to our seniors — Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security. We’d have to stop paying veterans’ benefits. We’d have to stop paying all the other payments on all the other things the government does. And then we would risk default on our interest payments. If we did that, we’d tip the U.S. economy and the world economy back into recession, depression.” None of which is true, of course.

The Taliban Prison Break…And It’s Aftermath

Close to five hundred captured Taliban are now free once more to fight another day:

In one of the most elaborate prison breaks in recent Afghan history, the Taliban managed to free hundreds of inmates from Kandahar’s central prison in the early hours of Monday morning through a 1,180-foot tunnel.

Are You Appalled?

It’s for sure the White House is appalled that we question the integrity and honesty of a president who keeps his past an enigma, like a criminal with a murky past. Some of us want to see the actual birth certificate with all the revealing details, the same one Hillary wanted to see during the primary campaign. Some of us wonder how a lackluster student managed to drift from an also ran college (Occidental) for affluent college kids who can’t hack it in competitive Universities, to a well respected University like Columbia. A place where no one remembers the scholar Obama and his magnificent intellect. He is then thrust into Harvard Law School and on to the Harvard Law Review without writing any papers. He was then appointed to be the Editor of the Harvard Law Review; again he managed this by keeping his stellar performance under wraps, perhaps to avoid embarrassing the law students and professors with his brilliance. Still today, we wait for some evidence of this magna cum laude intellect to make itself known.

Boehner Throws Down His Silk Gauntlet

With soaring fuel prices, ever increasing inflation, the world’s rejection of our dollar as its standard, record unemployment, America’s continued reliance on foreign energy when we could be exporting energy, and the loss of America’s credit rating, there are opportunities to score major political points with the American public. A group of people are staggering from the economic turmoil and effects of the Obama policies; while waiting for Obama’s mythical Green Energy policies to rescue them from unemployment and welfare dependency.

Protests in Syria have claimed 120 lives over the last two days.

BEIRUT – Syrian security forces fired on funeral processions that drew tens of thousands Saturday, one day after the bloodiest crackdown so far in the uprising against President Bashar Assad. The shootings pushed the two-day death toll to more than 120 and two lawmakers and a religious leader resigned in disgust over the killings.
