And thanks to the recent reporting of CNN (where were they and the other media three years ago, when we needed them?), more people will realize that shortly after the passage of Obamacare the Obama administration implemented rules specifically designed to ensure that millions of people — those who provided for themselves on the individual market, i.e., who did not receive coverage through their employer or union — would not be allowed to keep their current insurance. Thus not only were Obama’s assurances untrue; they were purposeful deceit in which a supine press was complicit.
Jay Carney, the Official Propagandist of the Obama regime said:
One of the things health reform was designed to do was to help not only the uninsured but also the underinsured. And there are a number of Americans, fewer than 5 percent of Americans, who’ve got cut-rate plans that don’t offer real financial protection in the event of a serious illness or an accident.
Now if you had one of these substandard plans before the Affordable Care Act became law and you really liked that plan, you were able to keep it. That’s what I said when I was running for office.
That was part of the promise we made.

The Obama administration projected low-end, mid-range and high-end estimates for how many plans would be terminated, in total and broken down between large and smaller employers. The bottom line is that the administration expected 51% of all employer plans to be terminated as a result of Obamacare. That is the mid-range estimate; the high-end estimate was 69%. So as of 2010, the Obama administration planned that most Americans with employer-sponsored health care plans would lose them, whether they liked those plans or not.
As for individual, as opposed to group plans, the Obama administration said that data were insufficient to predict how many would lose grandfather status, but in any given year the percentage of such policies losing such status would “exceed[] the 40 percent to 67 percent range.”
Those numbers starkly contradict Obama’s “if you like your insurance, you can keep it” assurances. But it is worth noting that the percentage of pre-Obamacare plans that would terminate within the first few years after the law was enacted isn’t the main point. The administration never intended to allow any American to keep a non-Obamacare insurance policy for any length of time.
And for small business, it’s more like 80%.

Unfortunately, the regulation writers at the Departments of Treasury, Labor, and Health and Human Services broke all those promises. The regulation is crystal clear. Most businesses–the administration estimates between 39 and 69 percent–will not be able to keep the coverage they have.
Under the new regulation, once a business loses grandfathered status, they will have to comply with all of the new mandates in the law. This means these businesses will have to change their current plans and purchase more expensive ones that meet all of the new Federal minimum requirements. For the 80 percent of small businesses that will lose their grandfathered status because of this regulation, the net result is clear: They will pay more for their health insurance.

This is not simply a lie. It is a lie of galactic proportions. All hell is going break loose next year when nearly everyone loses their plans, and that is why the employer mandate was delayed. So Obama could lie through another election cycle.

I just want to note something here and please folks, correct me if my memory of this is incorrect.
As we now know, less than a month after the bill was signed, “the Obama administration implemented rules specifically designed to ensure that millions of people”. I’m almost positive before this bill was voted on, those few who dared actually investigate and report noted that the “implementation of the bill laid in the hands of the head of HHS. I’m almost certain it was also being reported that the head of HHS would also have the right to “change the rules as they went as needed” (sorry here. morning brain freeze and I just can’t the exact words out. :-). We know they wrote the rules to in effect dismantle the grandfather clause. But here is the real kicker that no one is mentioning.
It was pointed out years ago this would happen, and I don’t just mean the loos of policies! It was reported that a few people would have the right to make up the rules as they went, that in effect all control of health care and all decisions pertaining to it would be made by in effect one person! Death panels for an example? Id it isn’t there, it can be inserted. They have that right under this law. Rationing of care to the elderly? It’s coming because this bill gives them the right! And if it’s not there now, they can insert rules to make it so.
It was there for all to see, but the slime that is the MSM as well as the bald faced lying entrenched political scum refused to report on or tell us the truth! The brilliant guy in the White Souse didn’t know? States like Nazi Germany, the old USSR, Cuba, China and so many others were built on lies! In my lifetime we have seen many leaders all over the world of the same lying ilk. But the blatant openness with which this clown in the White House lies to his teeth amazes me.

I really have to dig back into stuff to be sure, but I’m positive on at least the gist of it. I seem to remember someone actually reporting and reading the clause that gave them the right to “rework it” as it went. They pointed out the fact that all power of control would be in the hands of a very few and the administration charged them with creating a false picture of what was to be.

I question the validity of the underlying assumption. I believe the goal really is to make healthcare services available to Americans who have been denied access, to get a handle on skyrocketing costs, and to increase emphasis on preventive healthcare to that end. I don’t believe that failure to continuously repeat the right’s negative memes necessarily indicates that the “mainstream media” is far to the left.
I consider FOX News to be little more than a propaganda outlet. MSNBC might be characterized in the same fashion, but they at least don’t pretend to be a straight news outlet. CNN strikes me as being somewhere in the middle, a bit left of center.

The cost of the Iraq war has nothing to do with your question or the article. What it has to do with is the right’s conveniently inconsistent definition of the word lie. The $50 billion to $60 billion amount that the Bush administration asserted regarding the cost of the war in Iraq was off by a factor of 30, and “weeks or months” turned out to be a decade. The degree of Obama’s inaccuracy pales in comparison. Have we got one standard of truth for democrats and another for republicans?
Since Mr. Romney declined to release tax records for the years people had the most suspicion about, it isn’t known with certainty what was done in those years. I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt. My guess is that there was nothing illegal, but that voters would have been outraged by what had been done while still remaining within the letter of the law. The issue would have become the preferential treatment that our tax laws show to the upper 1 percent.

Reading this discussion I find it informative as it proves something I thought was true. The hard cord lefties who visit here cannot admit the truth. In others words Obama didn’t lie about if you like your plan you can keep your plan. PERIOD. If that isn’t a lie then I don’t know the definition of the word. We were also told we’d have 5 days to look at any law before it was voted on. The health care reform debate would be broadcast on CSPAN. Also these are LIES. Except in a liberal world they are just known as not clear enough or misunderstood. This is why most of these lefties have no credibility. How are we supposed to find common ground when we can’t even agree on what a lie is? We were also promised choice and competition, which isn’t happening since many companies are pulling out of the health insurance market and people are left with fewer options and losing a hospital and doctor they like. Also since president Pinocchio claims only about 5 per cent are affected by this misunderstanding of clarity, which is about 12 to 15 million people and the original estimate of those he was trying to help who were supposedly locked out of the health insurance market was around 30 million, that comes out to a bit more than 10 per cent or so of the population. Then your amazing skills of analysis should be able to explain why despite the lofty, repeated and videotaped (lying) claims about “bending the cost curve down”, lowering the cost of healthcare, allowing people to keep their plans and doctors if they liked them are failing so miserably.
Explain just how adding layers and layers of outrageously expensive government bureaucracy but not one single additional physician can possibly lower the cost of medical care.
And with a group of leftist bureaucrats who spend over $600 MILLION to build a website – using a foreign computer company during a time of high US unemployment…said company having a history of cost overruns and incompetence in their own country- then have such a grossly incompetent rollout of their national socialist health insurance system that the government flacks won’t give out enrollment numbers for their dismal website…please explain upon what basis anyone should trust these progressive clowns to manage the delivery of medical care – moreover to actually lower costs!

Here is the methodological essence of the evil of leftists. They will absolutely blow smoke, twist and further lie to avoid admitting that they have been lying all along. It is Clinton’s “It depends on what the definition of ‘is’ is” obfuscation. The ends (national socialist takeover of medicine, illegal alien amnesty, gay pseudo-marriage, gun confiscation, erasure of any Judeo-Christian philosophy from public venues) always justify the leftist means.
The end goal, of course, is them ruling over the rest of us as slaves. This is why you cannot ever trust a leftist. Greg – again – if obamacare is so great, and the stated goal of having the cost of providing health care to the poor is so monumentally important that everyone should happily pay their “fair share” – then please enlighten us as to how you personally fared enrolling in obamacare online. Surely someone as devoted to socialist ideology as you are has already joyfully signed up to pay higher insurance premiums, happily glowing in the warm knowledge that you are helping pay for someone else to get “free” birth control, unusable male mammogram and maternity care, unneeded drug and alcohol rehab coverage, and of course prostate exam coverage for women, right? I mean – having employer provided health insurance is no excuse with the devotion you have repeatedly expressed here at FA on the topic. If you had any sense of integrity at all you will have cancelled your health insurance and signed up for your obamacare bronze plan the first day it was available, right?

And you think these alleged parallels outweigh details like, say, one attempted to conquer Europe by force? or say, one murdered 60 million people in an attempted genocide? Did Hitler offer apologies for the adverse effects his policies had upon those impacted?
It’s tough for me to answer that, considering it’s not true. What is he waiting for? When is it going to be setup? Are the New Black Panthers going to be the generals?
