Remember, Sen. Mary Landrieu (D-La.), talked about prostituting herself for $100 million to vote for the health care package of Dingy Harry, well in the same breath, she said it was actually $300 million. Hell, it’s just money, not Obama is calling the Democratic caucus onto the carpet tomorrow to get off their butts and push this thing through. After seeing the goodies Landrieu got for her state, the other Democrats figure to do the same for themselves, but this time we won’t hear about it. They will keep it quite, when you running a deficit upwards into the additional trillions, what’s a few $3 or $4 hundred million going to hurt. The printing presses will simply run a little overtime.
Now it comes out that Landrieu is also holding a fundraiser for Reid in New Orleans next month.
Why? The man doesn’t even represent that state! Politicians like Landrieu and Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Neb.) have misrepresented themselves to their constituents for far too long, and they will pay in full come November 2010. They’ll be filthy rich by that time, if I were them I would simply dump it all and head for Tahiti.
WASHINGTON – President Barack Obama will meet with Senate Democrats at the White House Tuesday to press for action at a make-or-break moment for his health care overhaul.
All 60 members of the Democratic caucus have been invited, according to three Democratic officials. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the announcement was not yet public.
The meeting comes as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid works to round up votes to get a sweeping health bill passed before Christmas. The outcome is uncertain with moderates in danger of defecting on issues including abortion and a proposed expansion of Medicare
With Obama down around 44%, obviously he is getting close to hitting the panic button. The pollsters are keeping the percentage as high they can but are fighting a losing battle. The buyers remorse is getting more severe every week and there is simply not much that can be done. Obama certainly is helpless to do anything as he doesn’t seem to know whether to fish or cut bait.
We’ve got those telling us the recession has ended and all we have to do now is dream just how high the Dow will go, but before he can even finish his tirade, another in the Obama camp comes out and pops his bubble. Report comes out that jobless claims are down a ‘convincing’ 6,500 from the last but they forget to mention that ‘expiration of benefits’ does not suggest someone ‘went back to work.’
It will be interesting to see if ol’ Harry can manage those 60 because payoffs, nonetheless, many Dems rightfully worry that they will be giving up the trimmings of power come 2010 if they continue this nonsense.
Ben Nelson will be paid off as well. Up to 500 million in open-ended pork. They also threatened him with closing down every military base in Nebraska if he doesn’t accept…

Obama and his cronies did not get enough money for the stimulus to pay all of them. So, Obamacare is going nowhere because these politicians are asking for ‘too much’ money for their vote. Gosh, just like a Third World country. What a disgrace. They have no morals!
Patvann, the only Active Military Base in Nebraska is STRATCOM HQ in Omaha as I recall. A lot of very important National Security functions are conducted there. Some are not duplicated anywhere else. It evolved from SAC AFB and the old Strategic Air Command. “Looking Glass”, the doomsday Command & Control missions were flown from there during the Cold War.
It would be infinitely stupid to threaten closure of that Base or Scott AFB in Illinois where Airlift Command as US TRANSCOM are located. I believe that Gates will intervene if necessary.
From where I sit, the TARP Funds are the Big Cookie Jar and that is the Big Carrot. The rest of this is just a bundle of Sticks to beat compliance out of those that listen to their constituency. The way I hear it Reid is on his way out in the next election.

Steve Rowland, the last BRAC list published was in 2005. By 2013 the current Congress and squatting President will will be a different mixture of folks. The “Threat” is not going away and the STRATCOM function is necessary to National Security.
Idle threats are just that. I look to see considerable resistance to closing Offutt AFB from DOD as well as other Agencies. Relocation of those well established assets and the function is a very remote possibility. The Socialists are struggling to buy votes for the Obama Care package and will most likely not get 60 until the Legislation is affordable which in it’s present state is not. It would be Political Suicide to support that bill in many districts.

Hello from Omaha. As a retired Navy guy I can definitely tell you all that if the Dems even say the words “close Offutt” out loud, there will be the largest Republican victory in 2010 in Nebraska Ever. Offutt is the largest employer in Omaha (about 13,000 I believe) and to even suggest losing it is beyond the pale. Whoever leaked this idea probably thought that it would scare Nelson and Nebraskans into supporting the Health Care bill. What they’ll get is just the opposite. Payback time is coming. It’s almost 2010. Goodbye Ben, Goodbye Harry, Goodbye Ms Speaker.
