I’m With Sarah! [Reader Post]

Millions of liberals rejoiced and thousands of Republicans heaved a sigh of relief Friday as Sarah Palin announced her decision to resign as Alaska’s governor. In her usual forthright manner, Gov. Palin made clear that she was not content to squander her time on ‘politics as usual’. Here, here.

Sarah Palin has withdrawn from the arena she describes as “superficial wasteful political blood sport.” She, like millions of Americans, is tired of ‘politics as usual’.

On Saturday, Palin issued a message on social networking site Facebook saying, “I am now looking ahead to how we can advance this country together with our values of less government intervention, greater energy independence, stronger national security, and much-needed fiscal restraint.”

Palin has made the same choice many conservatives are starting to make, opting to “effect positive change outside of government.” Politics as usual no longer represents the 62 million Americans who didn’t vote for Obama. Disenfranchised citizens now have no say on the the takeover of our country by radical forces and, like Sara, they are starting to seek solutions outside the political realm. Many are coming to the realization that election to public office may no longer be the best way to serve our country.

Any effective leader on the right, any conservative with the guts to stand on the principles long since abandoned by the GOP, can expect election to public office to be a waste of time and effort. A lot of sound and fury, signifying nothing. Where political ambitions trump sound policy. Where the ability to lie convincingly is mandatory and misleading the public is essential to re-election.

Our political system has become a no holds barred PR battle, with muckraking as its main theme and form over substance as its governing philosophy. Essential time must necessarily be spent fighting fires instead of getting things done. Time that could be better spent “keeping an eye on the ball.”

The “ball” is representing and protecting the system of government our founding fathers bequeathed to us. Many conservatives believe this is no longer possible in the political realm, where our elected officials are more concerned with amassing power and retaining their offices than with protecting and defending the rights of all Americans.

Like Sarah, I believe politics works best from the ground up. At a recent gathering of my state representatives, I implored them to stand up and yell ‘STOP’ to the unconstitutional and unprecedented devolution of power to the federal government. As one, their answer was the same as its been for decades, “Re-elect me and I will.” My answer: NO.

I, for one, withdraw my support from the business as usual GOP. From now on, I will search for solutions, like Sarah, outside of the political realm. As Palin quoted, “I am not retreating, I am advancing in another direction.” I leave the entrenched politicians to play their increasingly destructive games by themselves. They will no longer be enabled or supported by me.

America’s strength has always come from ‘we the people’, not ‘we the politicians.’ It is time for all Americans to remember that and quit relying on government and/or politicians for solutions. Just as Sarah Palin has.

Hey Nancy. Great post. It has been a great 4th of July — Alaska will be in good hands with the lieutenant governor and Governor Palin will be free from the constraints placed on her. If taken the time to read and browse the internet, this decision was really well reasoned. Though I didn’t follow all 15 ethics complaints (they were so ridiculous there was no reason to), the debt to her family, her inability to leave the state without another ethics complaint and decision of Alaska based dems and libs to ruin her, has cut the governor’s tenure.

America will be better off having the governor as a private citizen. She has met many of her goals for Alaska and Sean Parnell will work out just fine. I am tired of politicians and “business as usual” too.

This weekend was truly Independence day. Independence for Sarah Palin.

jainphx, are you proud of the last administration? cuz alot of your right wing tv host shied away real quick from george w’s work.

have you guys ever heard the saying ” you can’t polish a terd” Palin is dan quayle’s equal. enough said!

Ghost Guru
I can’t take it any more! Having recently read Ben Franklins autobiography as published in the Harvard Classics copyright 1937 pg 90.

“…having mentioned a great and extensive project which I had conceived, it seems proper that some account should be here given of that project and its object. …Observations on my reading history, in Library, May 19th, 1731. That the great affairs of the world, the wars, revolutions, etc., are carried on and affected by parties.

That the view of these parties is their present general interest, or what they take to be such.

That the different views of these different parties occasion all confusion.

That while a party is carrying on a general design, each man has his particular private interest in view.

That as soon as a party has gained its general point, each member become intent upon his particular interest; which, thwarting others, breaks that party into divisions, and occasions more confusion.

That few in public affairs act from a meer view of the good of their country, whatever they may pretend; and, tho’ their actings bring real good to their country, yet men primarily considered that their own and their country’s interest was untied, and did not act from a principle of benevolence.

That fewer still, in public affairs, act with a view to the good of mankind.

There seems to me at present to be great occasion for raising a United Party for Virtue, by forming the virtuous and good men of all nations into a regular body, to be governed by suitable good and wise rules, which good and wise men may probably be more unanimous in their obedience to, than common people are to common laws.

I at present think that whoever attempts this aright, and is well qualified, can not fail of pleasing God, and of meeting with success.”

Ben Franklin goes on to lament his inability to devote enough time to get his “great and extensive” project started, he goes on quote out of his notes about it…

“the substance of an intended creed, containing, as I thought, the essentials of every known religion, and being free of every thing that might shock the professors of any religion. It is expressed in these words:
That there is one God, who made all things.
That he governs the world by his Providence.
That he ought to be worshiped by adoration, prayer and thanksgiving.
But that the most acceptable service of God is doing good to man.
That the soul is immortal.
And that God will certainly reward virtue and punish vice, either here or hereafter.”

Does this sound like a man not bound by a book of faith? Where do you think his idea came from? Within himself? NO – Ben Franklin was a man very familiar with the bible – experimenting in many religions, but ultimately believing in the one true God and reading His words. I don’t assume to know this, Franklin himself relates it in his autobiography. Maybe its time someone again considered starting this “great and extensive project” as Ben Franklin outlined it – if ever there was a time it was needed, that time is NOW!

@Ghost guru

she doesn’t even teach conservative values in her own home. What are you talking about jason? do you approve of minors having babies out of wedlock

I’m no Palin fan but I think your comment is unfair. Parents may have and teach their children certain values BUT doesn’t mean their children will automatically obey. Teenagers – right or wrong – have their own opinions and should be – to a degree – responsible for their own actions. If your kids grew up and started to believe in Adam & Eve, talking snakes etc – then does that mean you have failed?

ghost, john boy and herman, blast, RAP and that TJ punk, out for courtesy and respect for FA posters that have sensitivities and a sense of civility, I will reserve my comments, not out of respect for you that deserve none from me. ghost, if you really want a “taker” go elsewhere.

Anonymous internet snipers get away with anything if not banned. FA has permitted you to post your crap here. Pretty damned generous on the part of the moderators here. Don’t abuse that.

The tripe that you post here defines you lack of character and will not be dignified by a response from me. Like my Father taught me many years ago, arguing with Fools is never a fruitful endeavor.

As long as FA permits you to post your crap here, you are just pissing in the wind. I will not waste my time replying to your delusional mental masturbation. You got your 5 seconds from me. Use it wisely.

What does she think she will accomplish by abandoning the arena where policy is set, and retiring to a distance where one can only prevail if one has friends actually in the arena? I really hope she knows what she is doing.

Regardless, she is a good person, and I wish her well in whatever good she pusures. It’s hard to imagine someone like her not making a positive contribution, whatever she does.

Oh … THIS is gettin’ good …

And she can shoot too.

And field-dress a donkey—er, caribou …

NOW can we start the re-revolution?

Dude can’t even spell “turd”

I don’t disagree with anything Benjamin Franklin said in his autobiography page 90. I to feel the same way. Yet he makes no mention of a particular book that he subscribes to. And he was very well versed in different religious philosophies. “the substance of an intended creed, containing, as I thought, the essentials of every known religion, and being free of every thing that might shock the professors of any religion. why doe s he make a point to say he is free from every thing that might shock the professor of any religion. cause he is not bound by a book.
he is free with his mind.

ya got me karma!

Well I just glossed over the idoocy from the Leftist trolls that came by her.

This will only allow Palin to go on the offnsive of the ridiculous idotst that Soros is payign to defame Palin’s name. Why in the world would thousands of lawyers go to Alaska other that to dug up anything on her, and all they can come up with is “ethics violations” that all have been proven to be ridiculous.

Go Sarah Go. I love to see the Left squirm in their own bile of hate.

Just wanted to thank Sarah Palin for quitting. i would have never known about flopping aces with out her doing what she did!

C from Alaska, you have a pretty keen new Governor. My last visit to Alaska was in 86″ and at Ft Wainright in January. It was great training and the experience of landing by parachute into a 12 foot snowbank was a first for me. It took seconds from exiting the aircraft to take my first breath of -20 degree Alaskan air but you live in a very breathtaking place that is uniquely beautiful and I enjoyed it immensely. I live in Montana and and am retired now but greatly respect the character of those that deal with the weather extremes, are of uniquely rugged character and have had the experience of Sarah Palin as Governor.

The lower 48 residents need to go visit Alaska at least once in their lives. Most lower 48 folks are fat, lazy and too complacent to live in Alaska. Your former Governor has my full support for any office she chooses to pursue. She cleaned up some corruption there, was despicably attacked by folks that were corrupt, intimidated by a Woman in a position of Authority and I won’t apologize for those acts because I did not participate in them but would quite happily meet them face to face to settle their issues on a personal basis.

It is 20 hour daylight for you now. I hope your Independence Day was grand. In Montana we fired our fireworks off into a cloudless night sky. I pit roasted half a steer and had a house full of neighbors over but my thoughts were with those serving away from their hearth and homes and although my Daughter is to the Air Force Academy, I know that Freedom and Liberty is all celebrated in of Our 50 Great States. Not the 57 that our Pretender in Chief delusionally claimed.

My visit to Alaska has fond memories and although separated by distance, We are All Americans.

Take Care. I have a new foal to look after. Time better spent.

@yonason: Sarah is already scheduled for an appearance in Simi Valley, Reagan country, in a week or so…not sure of the date. She’s going to hit the ground running and build a pure conservative base to attack the economic mess we’re in now. As before, I doubt that she intends to impose her personal social values on anyone. But we need her and lots of others like her to dig in and get on with saving the country. It should be obvious to anyone that we are being sold down the river. To hell with what the social engineers on either side want to distract us with. The USA is sinking under the weight of the Left. Having been a 60’s liberal (before it became a bastardized word) myself, I can attest that what they are up to is textbook 60’s radical leftist agenda. And here I thought we’d outgrown all that…well, at least I have.

Part of the PDS we see displayed by leftists is not fear, but the need to replace Bush as a focal point of their derranged hate now that he is out of office.

Ghost, I see that what you lack in intelligence you make up for in the quantity of verbal diarrhea you spew from that sphincter you call a mouth.

ya, I forgot where did it start? oh under Bush… that’s right.

Interesting that on every site I’ve been to this weekend, there are Anti Palin posters spending HUGE amounts of time blasting Palin.

Most of these folks spend HOURS within those threads… and are NOT people who are there regularly…

“ghost guru
65 Just wanted to thank Sarah Palin for quitting. i would have never known about flopping aces with out her doing what she did!

July 5th, 2009 at 7:44 pm”

Interesting… so just who gave you your assignment to this site?

Romeo13 –

I’m guessing a huge shipment of crack came into the DNC and they are distributing via ACORN.

@AnnMonterey

Palin would be wise if she did what you say and concentrate on conservative economic issues. Thatcher has her own personal social values – but throughout her 11 years as PM she ‘mainly’ focused on economic issues. My concern is that the religious right always seem to be unable to this – and unwanted moralising and lecturing comes to the fore.

and hard right I see you avoiding your parties part in all this. call it what you want i call it factual. It was apparent to me back in 2000, sorry I was ahead of the curve on that one. and even now the right has no leader just like it was in 2000. If your party could find a real leader, I would be glad to vote for him/her.

romeo13, Hi how are you doing? i honestly just happened to be very bored today. I went for a bike ride at the beach, waited at the pier for the (way of the master goon squad to show and they did not today.) all my friends were ;ying low trying to recover from yesterdays festivities, so I went on msn and started to look at the news. typed Sarah Palins name on google search and low and behold flopping aces showed up. I liked the art on the web page ( cuz I’m a fan of westerns) and the top blog was this one. So here I am. Gods honest truth. I am a 36 year old man in socal recovering from back surgery. so all I have is time to deal with. that’s why I have been so happy to participate in this blog. I am not an atheist, and forgive my poor punctuation. I did not know i was getting a grade for this.

Thank goodness for Sarah Palin!

I think we can all see what the so called best educated Harvard bunch has done to our country.

I wish i was that interested in school again to be doing this for some grade! I really do!

I am pretty sure the people that run this site love the fact that I have gotten so many people to participate on this blog though!

Darn it….

We were out of town spending the 4th with our friends north of Charlotte, NC and just got back in an hour or so ago.

I do, really and truly, hope that ghost guru will stick around for awhile.

It’s gonna be great fun watching it beclown itself over and over and over here on FA.

I could help but laugh out loud when the “guru” told us that the Founders didn’t believe in the Bible.

Hey “guru” can you tell me who said this?

“The Bible is worth all other books which have ever been printed.”

“I have examined all religions, as well as my narrow sphere, my straightened means, and my busy life, would allow; and the result is that the Bible is the best Book in the world.” December 25, 1813

(No fair looking it up but I’ll give you a hint….they are quotes from two of the founders.)

The word guru is defined as follows:

1. Hinduism & Tibetan Buddhism. A personal spiritual teacher.
2.
1. A teacher and guide in spiritual and philosophical matters.
2. A trusted counselor and adviser; a mentor.
3.
1. A recognized leader in a field: the guru of high finance.
2. An acknowledged and influential advocate, as of a movement or idea: “In a culture that worships slimness, he was the Guru of Lean” (Erica Abeel).

I’d like to know precisely in what subject do you consider yourself to be an leader, mentor, counselor, or adviser.

We know it can’t be history.

We know it can’t be politics.

You’ve already exposed your shortcomings on both of those subjects.

So, what can it possibly be?

I’m looking forward to the answer.

I agree with a lot of the sentiment within this post to a degree.

I think given the untenable constraints on Sarah thanks to the leftists who abused the system to wreak havoc on Palin both professionally and personally, she really didn’t have a choice but to sacrifice her title.

But now, she’s free to do what she needs to do.

I’ve seen lots of speculation regarding what Palin might be planning. Here are my thoughts:

I think Palin will work with conservatives and do her part to win the house and perhaps the senate next year. There are a lot of people requesting her help…and given what she was able to do fro Chambliss…it’s no wonder.

I think she could in essence become kingmaker.

Afterwards, I believe she will be in a prime position to run for the Oval office. I think she sees the breakneck speed at which the left is destroying our country, I think she feels a call to duty…but of course she knows that it’s not enough to win the big chair…which is why she’d help get the right people elected, regardless of party.

I think it’s clear in reading her speech and her 4th of July letter that she is not shying away or quitting. She is actually taking on this challenge. She has accepted the mantel.

Also…please note that she will be speaking at the Reagan Library in early August. I’m sure those convinced she’s quitting to lick her wounds or whatever have a great reason for that.

I mean what kind of significance could there POSSIBLY be with her speaking at the REAGAN LIBRARY?
😉

tinkerthinker:

Thank goodness for Sarah Palin!

I think we can all see what the so called best educated Harvard bunch has done to our country.

B…but they’re just so CRAZYSMART! And Palin’s from *cringe* ALASKA!

@Aye Chihuahua: Just another troll to have fun with.

@Old Trooper: An old friend of mine, the late Jean Potter Chelnov wrote a wonderful history of the early bush pilots entitled “The Flying North”. She was there during WWII and met many of them in the flesh. They established the mail service for AK. Talk about courage and daring! Before she passed away at 83 in 1997, she was invited back by the University of Alaska for a new printing of the book. It’s a great read and I’ll bet you’d enjoy it.

@Mary Beth: Haha, I think you’re on to something there! Must we always have to translate for the boys? Well, some of the boys anyway.

You thinking folks are on much the same right track as anyone I have heard who has NOT thrown Gov. Palin under the bus.

But let me feed you a little food for thought from my blog piece about her decision:

[…]

Lastly, if I hear one more time how Palin has not finished her term I think I’ll puke. There are MANY reasons why she would chose to leave now … not the least of which is to set-up her LtGov. to be able to run for the Governor’s seat all on his own in the next election with enough time under his belt to be considered an “incumbent”. I am sure, with ALL Palin’s domestic energy experience she sees huge trouble for this country should cap and tax clear the Senate. And her staying in office and continually being the punching bag for the idiots in every media venue and the democrat party it would make electing into the governor’s seat nearly impossible for a republican … especially her Lt. Gov. In the many reasons for leaving I have a feeling this was one of the strongest … to see Alaska and it’s energy resources in the hands of a possible democrat governor who would be a puppet for the Marxist White House and Congress would have been horrific.

And let’s not forget two things in all this post-resignation bashing of the Governor:

1. Obama did not finish his Jr. Senate term (contrary to what he was on record promising he would do), and while in the Senate his only accomplishment was to vote “present’, oppose the war and our troops, and run for POTUS. Never a real and firm decision made during his tenure … just a lot of ‘clean and articulate’ posturing of pre-written words.

2. Gov. Palin has accomplished a lot in Alaska that will effect our country.

Sarah Palin has taken a huge and obviously critical step away from “politics as usual” … What will come of it is yet unknown. But I do know that the country is generally divided in their opinion of her. The country, however, is going through an awakening that those in the “politics as usual” elected class are pushing the people of this country off a plank into a drowning pool of government control and crippling taxes. This woman is dead set against both … Will she be our own Joan of Arc remains to be seen … But if she makes the right moves from her heart and soul she stands to be one of the leaders this nation is literally dying for … She’s already gotten the unlimted hate from the left, and the disdain from the RINOS in her own party.

Perhaps Sarah Palin has left her office to re-join us working monkeys to become the head of the Tea Party?

http://tinyurl.com/oqmkyy

It would be a wonderful thing if conservatives followed Sarah’s example and quit so-called “Politics” and just gave speeches and raised money for Tea Parties.

Let the Democrats have all elected offices. It will give conservatives that much more to complain about.

America loves Quitters and Whiners and Complainers, especially those who say they will not fight or compete because powerful ACORN and Soros rigged all the rules.

The only thing that can save America is Obama’s COLB and Quitting and Complaining and Whining.

Good work everyone!!!!!

aye chihuahua, Thomas Jefferson is the first quote , cause it’s brought the most control and money to the establishment. Why else would he feel the need to rewrite the new testament himself! cause it didn’t hold up in his own opinion. the second quote i am not sure about. but I have a question for you who wrote the age of reasoning and common sense? and what did he believe?as far as being a Guru, I guess I’ll stick my neck out and tell you what i think i know. I am an electronic guru, have had general motors engineers asking me for help, I am a technical music adviser to several bands in California, I have been a counselor at the first 3 harvest crusades, and and i am a Fishing guide of sorts to whoever wants to learn. and I debate the street preachers at Huntington Beach pier from time to time. try not to get to involved with that cause whenever I do. I can’t leave for at least an hour because of all the people that mob me afterward. I love to learn and am grateful you stumped me on the second quote. we all have something to learn from time to time. I am i no way saying that I am a fan of the left either.FYI. Are you trying to say you agree with everything that the right believes in? Cause I find that hard to believe! we all want decent moral views in this country for the most part. but all have very different ideas on what that actually is. I am just as tired of the left as well. I feel sad that so many Americans only care about what’s important to them as individuals. And that is my biggest gripe. but I also have to admit this has been fun blogging with everyone because you just wouldn’t have a conversation with strangers like this if you were in a room with them. It’s a wonderful format blogging. think I just got the bug!

sorry curt!

Some other problematical quotes:

(1). National Prayer

President Thomas Jefferson, March 4, 1805, offered A National Prayer for Peace:

“Almighty God, Who has given us this good land for our heritage; We humbly beseech Thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of Thy favor and glad to do Thy will. Bless our land with honorable ministry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion, from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitude brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues. Endow with Thy spirit of wisdom those to whom in Thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that through obedience to Thy law, we may show forth Thy praise among the nations of the earth. In time of prosperity fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in Thee to fail; all of which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen”

The problem with the above is that it isn’t true. March 4, 1805 was the date of Jefferson’s Second Inaugural Address and there is no such prayer included in it. This “prayer” shows up on a number of religious web sites on line, and is either attributed to Thomas Jefferson, with no other information or as above “Thomas Jefferson, March 4, 1805”. Nowhere is there a complete valid cite given. You can find his Second Inaugural Address at Thomas Jefferson, Second Inaugural Address, Monday, March 4, 1805

“[1]The God who gave us life gave us liberty. . . [2]Can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction. . . That these liberties are the gift of God? [3] The bible is the cornerstone for American liberty.” -Thomas Jefferson

This final phrase is totally imaginary! It does not appear in A Summary View of the Rights of British America, nor in Notes on The State of Virginia. A web search for the quotation shows it only as a part of this invalid quotation. It does not appear anywhere on the University of Virginia site on Jefferson’s works. Moreover, the phrase is completely inconsistent with Jefferson’s views about the Bible.

@ghost guru: “I also have to admit this has been fun blogging with everyone because you just wouldn’t have a conversation with strangers like this if you were in a room with them. It’s a wonderful format blogging. think I just got the bug!.”

You do sound like a newbie. If that is really so, you should learn some blogging etiquette…such as don’t monopolize the conversation, and do try to dial back that ego. Don’t constantly go off topic. One o/t is enough. If you want to talk about religion, wait for an open thread…

What the hell does this have to do with Sarah Palin?

Who cares about these quotes that you claim are imaginary.

This thread is about Sarah Palin.

thanks for the advice annmonterey. i will gladly take any advice you would like to offer.

Hmmm, not a single post on obama destroying the economy, supporting marxists, or ignoring the Constitution by ghost gimp.
What’s wrong gimpy, do strong women remind you of what a girly man you are?
Or if you’re a female (the dem version of a male), does Sara remind you of what a phony and traitor to your gender you are?

Hey ann, it’s here to disrupt and mock. Hence the mountain of posts and the massive compensation by being egotistical. Pearls before swine…

@AnnMonterey:

Thanks. If she’s resigned to devote all her time and energies to fighting back, that’s GREAT!

And, yes, I survived the 60’s, as well. We know what the “modern” Leftist is all about, because there’s nothing “modern” about him/her/it except that it is physically alive now, while it’s ideology is of the dead past.

Regards.

Hey Old Trooper. Thanks for the neat post about Alaska! The state is still beautiful and is a neat place to live and raise a family. Sounds like you have a pretty great place there in Montana as well.

Alaska does have a great governor and will be in good hands when the lieutenant governor takes over. She has done a terrific job cleaning things up. Too bad the wacko libs couldn’t leave her alone to complete her job. Alaska has benefitted from Governor Palin. And, I wish her all the best!

@yonason: I agree with all that…

Nite all.

“…and thousands of Republicans heaved a sigh of relief Friday as Sarah Palin announced her decision to resign as Alaska’s governor.”

This is one of the most ridiculous statement I have ever read. Palin’s quitting her elected position for some nebulous bs somehow has people sighing in relief? I guess true Palin supporters want to spin this as “good” that she is resigning. Normalizing her departure as what typically happens, a “relief”. SHE QUIT. I see it as another self inflicted wound and a big boost to Mitt Romney or some other dark horse candidate. Time will tell of course, and in the mean time I am laughing my tail off about the whole matter.

@Maggie

And how cynical and politically devious is that – the old trick of getting a new UNELECTED hand into the seat of power without bothering the electorate. In the UK Tony Blair won a third term and promised to serve a full term only to resign half way through to the incompetent Brown. I think if someone quits their seat then there should be a new election. Palin represents politics as usual.

Gaffa: And how cynical and politically devious is that – the old trick of getting a new UNELECTED hand into the seat of power without bothering the electorate.

State law, Gaffa. Nothing illegal for you to moan about.

Now why don’t you ponder something a little more akin to your fantasy crime… like installing 20+ czars with no oversight, and without bothering the electorate *or* Congress…

Didn’t say it was illegal now did I? If I had a dollar every moan on here about things that weren’t illegal – including yourself – I would be rolling in cash. So forget the tangent on legality – I talking what’s ethical. As for Czar – yes agree. Again 2 wrongs don’t make a right. Back to you…so you think’s it’s right politicians can hand over their roles without the electorate having a say in the matter?

@ghost guru:

Nope, not Jefferson on either of them.

There are lots of words attributed to the Founders which they never said. There are lots of quotes which actually belong to the Founders which are stripped out of any sort of context in order to give them a meaning that was not intended as well.

I am not quite sure what you point is in pointing out inaccurate quotes as being “problematic”. Those types of examples should be more accurately labeled “irrelevant”.

In order to honor Curt’s request, this will be my last post on the religion matter on this thread.

I will say in parting however, that you’re off on the wrong track when it comes to your understanding of the Founders and what their belief system was based on.

There were, without argument, one or two exceptions within the group of Founders. Blanket statements, like the ones you made in your earlier comments, are far too broad and all inclusive to be considered factually accurate.

@ghost guru

we are the leaders of the world and should be lead by putting our best and brightest in office. for the good of the country.

Really? Should they be Harvard and Yale educated? Dubya was. And just for the record, Dubya wasn’t my favorite president. Which astounds me about the left for the most part. The man spent money like a liberal. So what about him upset the left so much? Wait, it was his accent wasn’t it.
McCain? All everyone on the right ever heard about from the left was how easily republicans would win an election with McCain as the front man. The republican darling of the media.
Obama? Is that your man? Certainly educated. Best and brighest? You may make fun of the way Dubya spoke, or misspoke, but he didn’t use a teleprompter to order dinner.
Biden? Yeah, I’m not even going to go there.
The founders, who you keep referring to, thought it would be a good idea if we had a government of the people. We no longer have that.
