Obama ‘voracious’ in studying national security issues

WOW! Great idea: spend your entire life posturing to run for President, then spend your Senate career being a professional Presidential candidate instead of a senator, and when you finally get the job…

THEN READ UP ON IT

Don’t get me wrong, I’m thrilled that Senator Obama is finally getting national security briefings, reading up on the dangers in the world by reading 4yr old books about 20yr old subjects. I’m really thrilled. I’d of course prefer he read MY BOOKS, but maybe he’ll get around to it. More than anything, I really would have loved-I MEAN LOVED(!!!!) to have been a fly on the wall at the first NatSec briefing of his cabinet appointees. Oh MAN that had to be a conundrum!

“We have to leave Iraq 18 months from now per the campaign pledge, but the DoD says they can’t do it logistically. Hillary Clinton at State says it’d ’cause chaos and force a third invasion of Iraq (OUCH, tough sell to the DNC base!). Intel guys are saying that 1) AQ was in Iraq before the invasion, 2) AQ chose to make Iraq the central front in the gwot (not Bush), 3) AQ is being decimated by Bush’s Surge so leaving now let’s AQ revive in an oil-rich/money rich country. They also tell me that Iran’s gonna be making 40+nukes a month starting in January, India is moving troops to border w Pakistan & both sides are on their bi-annual brink-of-nuclear-war escapade. Oh, and despite the speech in Germany…ain’t nobody in the world gonna stop the anarchy in Africa or SE Asia.”

WELCOME TO THE JUNGLE!

Suggestion: Appoint Dennis Kucinich to form a Dept of Peace and abolish the DoD. Yeah, that’s the ticket!

Poor Obama. He honestly had no clue & actually believed the leftist rhetoric. He followed Kos and Huffpo instead of the Milblogs and Flopping Aces. If he HAD been reading FA, then he wouldn’t need to be such a “voracious” reader of dated books. I’m only shocked he’s not skipping to the Cliff’s Notes.

So Scott, you think that George W Bush did a better job preparing to be Commander in Chief, or was he pretty much a case of on the job training, also?

Bush campaigned on a promise to avoid getting involved in nation-building wars; so there is little reason to believe that he did a better job preparing for his role of supreme military commander.

I think that Obama’s preparation to be Commander in Chief compares favorably with that of Bush 43, Clinton, Reagan, Roosevelt, Wilson, and Lincoln, among others.

Lincoln, recall, had a background resume no more impressive than that of Obama. Lincoln had even been an outspoken pacifist, condemning US “aggression” in the Mexican-American war, which led to the US annexation of Texas and California.

In contrast, US Grant was highly qualified to be Commander in Chief, but was one of the worst Presidents in history.

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach, CA

Scott,

your books appear to be out of date.

Larry the war hadn’t happened when Bush was running for President. 911 HAS HAPPENED. So to read up on it while you are spending 2 years running for President might have been a good idea. If Obama had done due diligence while running he wouldn’t have waisted so many words pretending that the real war was in Afghanistan blah, blah, on day one I’ll call the Joint Chiefs together and tell them to get out as carefully as we got in recklessly, you know the story.

Scott,

President Bush said this week AQ wasn’t in Iraq prior to the war. Maybe he’s not paying attention during his briefings.

I’d be willing to bet that The Vapid One’s scrotum was so far up he could feel it in his stomach by the time the first briefing was over.
Welcome to the real world, Barry.

Oh no! A president interested in the world around him! This kind of petty nastiness will do nothing but make you all look like dicks. So far, obama has done nothing but show solid judgement in the people he’s picking for this advisors and cabinet – far better before he’s out of the gate than the loser who’s now leaving – as he ducks shoes from the folks he “liberated.” Most folsk would be pleased that their president is trying to be as informed as possible before taking office – we know that Bush was a moron completely unprepared for the job – a moron – like Palin – who never read a newspaper – much less a book. Keep up the good support – it’s why your party is SO popular!

Larry, there you go again defending that corrupted fraud Obama. Bush had the privilege of having a father that was once President and could advice him wisely. And Bush is an honnest man, Obama is not. Those are main differences. Bush had a plan, read the book of Guy Millière: “What Bush Wants”; the Remaking of the World (written in May 2003). His strategy was to get an alliance with Iraq to change the picture of the Arab world and he succeeded. Bush loves his country and he is proud of it. Obama hates America and wants to change it to a communist country. Bush was probably the greatest President of the USA after Reagan. He had guts, took all sort of crap from people like you (leftists) and he din’t wink and kept going because he knew he was right. This is not a flip-flop man like Obama. Bush cares, Obama only cares about himself. Open your eyes Larry you are living an obsessive illusion. Obama brainwashed you completely. I feel sorry for you, you got fooled.

Doesn’t this presuppose that Obama thinks our country actually has security issues? I thought his election alone was supposed to usher in a new era of eternal peace and love, since aggrieved peace-lovers like Hamas and Iran had already given him a big thumbs up. And besides, I have it on good authority from the C- GPA freshman students valiantly manning my local Starbucks that everything violent that happens in the world is America’s fault anyway. Unless by security issues he means anyone who voted Republican and is out there right now clinging bitterly to things, like capitalism and the U.S. Constitution.

Ms. Warp’ed continues to expose the deficiently of her current events knowledge…

So far, obama has done nothing but show solid judgement in the people he’s picking for this advisors and cabinet – far better before he’s out of the gate than the loser who’s now leaving – as he ducks shoes from the folks he “liberated.”

By gawd, girl.. you just keep coming up with the dumbest things to type here. Wish you’d quit and some of my friends would stop jokingly telling me that the world went to hell and a handbasket when they gave women the right to vote. You’re giving us all a bad name.

No maam… Sadr’s and Saddam’s Ba’athists have been working together since not long after the US coalition went into Iraq to depose Saddam. Again, you miss the point both Mike’sA and I told you, and went headlong into the Sunni/bad – Shia/good simplistic argument. We’ve both told you that jihad transcends sects for a common goal. The US coalition entry into Iraq was to help citizens elect a pan-Arab democracy of their own construction.

This is against what Sadr and his followers want.

So your statement that Bush was ducking shoes from the Sadr’ist who was “liberated” – based solely on the fact he was Shia – reveals you really ought to stick to some simple subjects…. basket weaving perhaps?

As far as Obama’s “judgment” in the appointees… a little premature to get excited, don’t you think? You might want to wait until you see how they use the power they are given. Afterall, Saddam was once the darling of the Iraqis.

We have learned a few things about Odummer during the Blago affair, Odummer isn’t very smart, Odummer lies, and Odummer isn’t very good at lying.

Would you trust anything Odummer told you?

fitfit, if you’d like a free, complimentary pdf of one of my books, just send me an email at smalensek-at-neo.rr.com, and I’ll be happy to send you one so that you can be informed. Much as we need the moola now that the wife’s been laid off, I’m still more interested in information than cash (not that I object to cash!!!!).

Seriously, my Sam Pender books are chronologies; history books. They’re meant to be informative…

…there’s been enough political spin. Let’s cut past it and view the 1990-present war in Iraq for what it is rather than for a D vs an R.

I was just going to comment that learning history has no end date, Scott. Your offer to Fit is gracious. If he does not take you up on it, he is just demonstrating partisan tendancies and a refusal to gain some extra knowledge about history where he is obviously not well versed.

So Fit, I do hope you take Scott up on his offer. And perhaps, in a genuine effort to “spread the wealth”, offer to pay him the price of the book after reading.

Wardouche, you again show how mentally ill you are. The left falsley accused Sara of being ignorant about the world, yet claim obama isn’t– when it’s proven he is.
If I wasn’t a citizen of this country I could laugh about the economic and Constitutional train wreck obama and his administration will inflict upon it.

“…Oh no! A president interested in the world around him! This kind of petty nastiness will do nothing but make you all look like dicks. So far, obama has done nothing but show solid judgement in the people he’s picking for this advisors and cabinet…”

Wall to wall retread white guys.

BECAUSE OF TEH CHANGINESSS!!!!!

So far, obama has done nothing but show solid judgement in the people he’s picking for this advisors and cabinet…

Like Rahmbo for instance?

He had at least 21 wiretapped conversations with Blagosoontobesomeone’sbitchovitch.

He’s been in hiatus for seven plus days now.

I would wager that he’ll be under the bus before Inauguration Day.

Heh.

So far, obama has done nothing but show solid judgement in the people he’s picking for this advisors and cabinet…

Oh yeah, A La Raza racist, a moonbat physicist tree sitter, a female protege of Al Gore, a Soros stooge, a guy who prolonged the economic slump under Carter, a guy in charge of education that is responsible for the worst schools in Chicago (cronyism), a guy that wants NATO troops in Israel, a guy who is against drilling in ANWAR and against oil shale developement… there is more but you get the point.

Rush is right. BO is “playing President” right now and he himself knows it. I see it more today than ever as he ‘cuts off’ reporters asking about Blago and Rahm. He’s trying very hard not to be self- conscience. My fav piece on BO is

“Obama: Man of the World” by Nicholas Kristof at the NYT.

I just laugh and laugh. Way to go, President-Elect Jakarta Street Kid Wisdom.

I just got finished watching the Lehrer News Hour on PBS. They had a pair of co-authors, of a book called “Grand New Party.” One was named Ross Douthat. I don’t remember the name of the other. Both are conservative Republicans.

They said that John McCain lost the election because his main theme was “Obama is a socialist.” And the voters tuned that out. They were worried because GOP Monday morning quarterbacks are saying “McCain lost because he’s not conservative enough.” They think that’s dead wrong. They say that the GOP base is bellowing in an echo chamber. What the GOP base says resonates among the GOP echo chamber, but nowhere else. They say that the GOP can’t win national elections without winning a greater percentage of the Hispanic vote. They say that the GOP is doing nothing which makes this increasingly important voting sector want to vote for the GOP.

I’ll tell you a few more things which also won’t resonate.

“Obama is corrupt.”

“Obama is a liar”

“Obama is a Muslim sympathizer”

“Obama is soft on national defense”

“Obama wants to kill babies”

“Obama wants to confiscate guns”

etc.

Those are all echo chamber catch phrases.

Repeat after me

echo chamber

So much of this blog is a big echo chamber. A GOP base mutual support group.

I can’t imagine that an independent voter would tune into this blog and be convinced about anything. On the other hand, this blog is much better than the Daily Kos, which wouldn’t convince an independent about anything, either.

This blog is very anti-Mainstream media. But, the trouble is, the MSM has much more credibility than talk radio, Fox TV, or blogs like this to independent voters.

Modest proposal:

I’m very impressed by the acumen of the Flopping Aces writers. But you guys write as if you were writing for an echo chamber, with few exceptions (whom I’m speaking of are obvious).

I want to congratulate Curt on getting 4,000,000 visitors. It’s a huge achievement. Congratulations. I suppose that one could say, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

But I wonder. If Curt wants to take this to the next level, perhaps he would write the same sort of articles, but write them as if he were not preaching to the choir (which is how most of the posts on this blog are pitched).

Why not write to CONVINCE centrist voters (and also Hispanics) that conservative values are superior to the values espoused by the opposition?

This blog so reminds me of an old Beatles song, called “Revolution.”

“If you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao,
You ain’t gonna make it with anyone anyhow.”

No one buys this “socialist” B.S., except for the GOP base.

No one buys this “corrupt” B.S., except for the GOP base.

It’s so easy to call someone a “socialist,” a “liar,” “corrupt.”

That stuff is echo chamber stuff.

It’s much more of a challenge to actually criticize one’s opponent on the basis of specific issues. A couple Flopping Aces contributors try to do the latter. Too many of you confine yourselves to the easy (and cheap) “echo chamber” stuff.

– Larry Weisenthal/Huntington Beach CA

Goddammit, Larry……

….I actually think that was rather constructive criticism.

I do want to influence those voters outside of preaching to the amen choir “echo chamber”.

I look at some of Scott’s old al-Qaeda/Saddam connection posts for reference, and see they only have a few hundred or a thousand views and not 500 thousand or million+ that they deserve.

If Curt wants to take this to the next level, perhaps he would write the same sort of articles, but write them as if he were not preaching to the choir

The tone of an article can turn readers off, or make people pause, and listen. I, for one, would like to turn more voters on to conservative ideology. We need more converts, and I think sometimes, the tone that is set can either alienate and turn people off, or make people think beyond partisan lines.

Thanks for choosing to remain here as a reader, Larry, and challenging us.

-wordsmith/not really from Nantucket

“Obama is corrupt.”= Rezko-Blago, on and on, more to come.

“Obama is a liar”= No contact with Blago, bla bla bal. (over twenty recordings)

“Obama is a Muslim sympathizer” = See his own words in his own book.

“Obama is soft on national defense” = Lets run now, get out now, over and over. Cut the military by 25%.

“Obama wants to kill babies” = Check his support and vote for the Born Alive act. That is actually murdering babies, way past abortion.

“Obama wants to confiscate guns” = Check the anti-gun votes in his past. Telling truth.

Obama’s approval rating is 79%. Americans like him that and think he has done a good job on his appointments. 21% don’t, that is approaching the “elite” status

Larry: Like so many of the so-called Republicans who the news media have sought out following the election I’ve never heard of the two conservatives you cite.

I have however worked for, been on the same podium with and met many of the founding members of the conservative movmement. You might recognize their names: Reagan, Goldwater, Buckley and Ashbrook.

I don’t think that I need to be lectured on how to win by people who either: A. Don’t really want us to win or B. Have never actually won anything.

If you think it’s an echo chamber for the GOP to return to it’s succesful conservative principles and rebuild upon that then I’m all for the echo.

McCain’s critical message about Obama wasn’t “tuned out” as you say. It was never heard. Go review the video of the Obama voters if you are fuzzy on that score. They had heard every negative thing about Sarah Palin but didn’t even know who Bill Ayers was. This was the same bunch who thought the Republicans controlled congress.

Are you not yourself just responding from the echo chamber of your own prejudices and self indulgent perceptions?

Thank you for your advice, but as I have said before: only a fool takes advice on how to win from people who want them to lose.

Woof… pixie dust still in the air, eh?

He hasn’t done anything yet, John Ryan, except (to borrow N. O’brain’s fab phrasing) appoint “wall to wall [Clinton] retread white guys…” LOL Thanks for the smile there, N. O’Brain… I really needed it.

This guy’s not even taken office, and you’re raving about some approval poll numbers? Pardon me, but approval of what? Appointing people that most of the poll responders are clueless to? Or need I remind you of those post election voter tests…. you know, the ones who didn’t know which veep or policy went with whom? Never heard of Pelosi or Reid? Other embarrassingly simple questions?

Yeah… approval ratings by the amazingly stupid public for Obama and those guys he picked … whoever they are… are high. Got it. Okay… zzzzzzzzz This would be the same bunch who can’t tell you how long a Senator serves, but can recite every item on the McDonald’s value meal menu.

Not being much of a herd critter, I think I’ll bypass these “public opinion” polls, and reserve my applause and/or criticisms until I see what these people actually *DO* with the power they are acquiring *enmasse*. At this moment, count me among the 21% that aren’t bowled over by Obama’s political wire balancing act…

So get back to me when he’s done something besides reading books I’ve already read. Like maybe after he’s started the job?

Off planet please.

Obama is CORRUPTED
Rezko, Ayers, Farrakan, Wright, Auchi, Khalidi, Odinga, Manley, Alexi Giannoulias, Blago, etc. Acorn, Freddie May, Anneberg, all his Chicago associations, the way he won his Senate seat, the way he got his house, the salary of his wife doubling when he became Senator, etc. When you have one or two of those around you, it can be a coincidence, when you have so many, it is a fact.

Obama is a LIAR:
I don’t have the courage to list all of his lies.

Obama is a MUSLIM sympathizer:

In his book: The Audacity of hope, he said:
“I will stand with the Muslims should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.”

On February 27th, 2007 Barack Hussein Obama said the Muslim call to prayer is “one of the prettiest sounds on Earth.”

In an interview with Nicholas Kristof, published in The New York Times, Obama recited the Muslim call to prayer, the Adhan, “with a first-class [Arabic] accent.”

The opening lines of the Adhan (Azaan) is the Shahada:
“Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
Allah is Supreme! Allah is Supreme!
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that there is no god but Allah
I witness that Muhammad is his prophet… ”

Quote from Barack Obama’s book, Dreams Of My Father:
“In Indonesia, I had spent two years at a Muslim school, I studied the Koran..”

“The person who made me proudest of all, though, was [half brother] Roy .. He converted to Islam.”

From Dreams… AND I QUOTE ” The only way for the white man to reconcile with the black man is for us to become brothers in Islam.”

P.S.: And not to mention that within the first 100 days of his presidency, he wants to make a big speech in one of the terrorist countries.

By the way Larry W., McCain lost because he is a Rino, a moderate/bi-partisan, and a good guy. Without Sarah Palin, who is a true conservative, McCain would have lost in a landslide.

And you know what? I don’t even think that Obama won. He is so corrupted that I am sure he won because of Acorn and hijacking the voter machines. They are very easy to hijack. I had a video of an expert on it, I will try to find it and post it.

Mata: As we all know, what goes up WILL come down. President Bush’s approval rating hit 87% shortly after Sept. 11th.

Obama’s approval will go up and down. But we all know the only real poll approval rating is the one given every two and four years in November. And in case anyone has forgotten, Republicans did pretty well in all but the last two of those since 2000 (inclusive).

Now that the Dems have finally won the whole enchilada they may at last be held accountable for results (that is unless their typical voter still believes the GOP is in charge). If they don’t produce results, and quick, the American people will be right to throw the bums out.

Starting in 2003 Dems basically gave Bush 16 months to win the Iraq war, and totally remake the Middle East. I figure we should hold Obama accountable for all his promises to totally remake this country on the same timetable.

It’s only fair isn’t it? Or did we just chage the rules again? Larry?

He will not make 16 months, Mike. He will be kicked out before. Rezko is singning and Obama is sweating…. lol

Rezko, Obama and Blago… all in the same bag.

Echo Chamber, Larry W? You are kidding right? You are still here and so are the moonbats. Conservative values? Why are you redondant? You mean “VALUES” alone, not conservatives values, there is no such thing. Values are for everyone, they do not belong to a Party. Conservatives have values, Liberals have none.

Larry W., just for you:

Fitzerald Watch: 5046 S. Greenwood Avenue. (You have a nice picture of Obama’s house in this article)

This comment comes from the same site:
“GUESS WHO The REALTOR that handled Rezo’s house, Obama’s house, and the strip of land Obama bought from Rezco was:
None other than GOVERNOR Blegojevich’s WIFE!!!!!!!!
The bank has the file and I suspect the bank may hold the mortgage.”

P.S.: Oh, and BTW Larry, Texasdarlin is a DEMOCRAT BLOG… would you call it an echo chamber?

I love John Ryan’s posts. I truly do.
🙂

Curious, in December 2006 when dems took Congress, what was their approval, and what was it in April 2007 when their laundry list of campaign promises turned out to be rhetoric, and their impotence was proven?

Larry, the only people who refuse to believe the points you posted AREN’T true about obama are delusional people like you and moonbats.

His voting record PROVES he does not support the 2nd Amend.
His appointments PROVE this as well.

His voting record PROVES he is for letting babies that survive an abortion DIE.

Everyone BUT obama from the Chicago machine is corrupt?
I recently saw that the owner of obama’s hous is still listed as Rezko.

Yes, obama is a liar. He lied about voting to let babies die.
He lied about his support of the 2nd Amend.
He lied about his relationship to Bill Ayers.
He lied about Wright’s racist sermons.

Why should anyone listen to you when you refuse to face the facts?

“Afterall, Saddam was once the darling of the Iraqis.”

Not to mention Ronald Reagan and George Bush! That’s the huge disconnect between the wingnuts and the rest of the universe. Where the wingnuts see Bush as a hero for “liberating” Iraq – the rest of the world – and particularly the Arab world, see the Iraq invasion as America – at BEST, cleaning up the mess it made for many years leading up to our invasion – and at worse, ignoring it’s own hubris and pretending to be the champion of the free. Bush the liberator? he can’t even visit the countries he liberated save for under secrecy and extreme security – and just this year, The president of Iran was given a RED CARPET welcome and waltzed through the streets of Baghdad. The Shoe Thrower is already FAR MORE A HERO to the Arabs than Bush – who is DESPISED. I don’t blame the wingnuts for their efforts – after all, Clinton – the churlish one – would still beat Bush II in an election – whether in America or most any other nation in the world – and it drives you all nuts. Bush – a failure in every way, JUST CAN’T GET NO RESPECT – even Muslim losers spit at him (or rather throw shoes, a grave insult in that part of the world) – he’s shit undernaeth their shoes – and Clinton? He’s still loved. And now HILLARY is secretary of state (HILLARY!!!)- while a MUSLIM MARXIST WHIPPED your Vietnam WAR HERO – a few points shy of a LANDSLIDE – and all YOU CAN DO is blame the media! And who’s your hero now? A dense, undereducated fop from ALASKA – who – when put in front of a camera, COULDN’T EVEN TELL US WHAT NEWSPAPERS she reads! Couldn’t articulate Bush’s foreing policy. COuldn’t really do anything except for wink at the wingnut masterbators like Rich Lowery! You guys can’t get no respect….

and you know why?

you don’t deserve any…

Obama will keep beating you because he’s better at this game than you are. he might be a sneaky, MUSLIM Marxist, he may be corrupt and a liar – but he’s brilliant at his game and – unlike Bush – who may’ve just been a decent guy stuck in WAY OVER HIS HEAD, Obama will keep making the right wing look small and petty – so small and petty that two of your biggest name brands – McCain and Newt – are begging you to tone it donw before you wind up a minority for many years to come…

I’m split Hard Right. Part of me sees the rationality of your point. It’s just hard to argue with history. The other part of me sees Larry’s point which is that the lesson or perspective of Obama’s history is more demonstrative of his being an opportunist willing to say and do whatever’s needed to get power rather than the perspective that he holds some sort of ideology-ANY sort of ideology. The same historical record that can be used to demonstrate he’s an ideologue can be expanded upon, shown with more detail, and all of a sudden he looks like he swings both ways on anything and everything. In general, my opinion remains closer to Larry’s: Obama is a shrewd and skilled politician who is pragmatic not about what needs to be done for the people he represents, but pragmatic about what needs to be done for him. Take this Blago thing of late. Can we all agree that Rham Emanuel has been silent since it broke? He’s not even on MSNBC deflecting accusations and incriminations for his man. Nope. He’s in hiding. Why? Seems we can all agree it’s ’cause Rahm darn well knows he spoke repeatedly to Blago, and Obama MUST KNOW what his Chief of Staff was doing otherwise it looks like his Admin is literally out of Obama’s control. Emanuel’s gonna go under the bus soon. We know it. Why? Because it’s politically expedient for Obama. Forget what it does for his admin or the country, or who’s the best Chief of staff…it’s all about the O.

I think his voting record bears that out too. If he were to rise to power in a conservative region, he’d be woohooin’ guns rather than dancing around the issue. The guy is a panderer first and foremost.

Problem that creates is bigger than any other. That problem-as we’ve all said for months now (both sides of the debate here at FA have said this)-now Obama and Democrats have power, and this time that means responsibility and accountability. They’ve promised the sun, the moon, and the stars, and even Obama and others have said they can’t do it all. Pressed during the campaign, Obama would never say what would be cut from his list of pandered promises due to the economic crisis. Well gosh…guess what? EVERYTHING is gonna be cut. There’s no money for domestic stuff, and his foreign policy agenda is creeping more and more to complete parity with the vaunted neocons’.

Forget ideology for a moment. It’s reality. It’s the fact that while people like him now…as he breaks more and more promises and looks more and more like Bush III, his popularity is gonna parallel the Democrats’ Congressional popularity of 06-07.

Well Scott, you may be right to a point. Obama is a survivior who will do whatever is needed to protect himself. However it’s hard for me to believe he doesn’t have some core ideology. I’m not so sure he needed to vote so far left while in office. He was worse than Hillary Clinton, and that is saying something.
Granted, people can change direction later in life, but his admin. picks are not telling me that he is doing so. I really, really hope I am wrong about obama, but it doesn’t seem so. Not to mention if he is only out for himself, that does not bode well for us. Clinton goverened by polls and look where that ultimately got us.

I think Obama is in over his head and is dependant on his handlers. I found it interesting during the press conference when he was with Gore the other day. He didn’t have an opportunity to rehearse a response for the breaking Blago scandal and the real hemming and hawing Obama came through.

Now everyone is focused on who is in his cabinet and COS, what they aren’t looking at is who he has surrounding him behind the scenes, Chicago people that came out of Daley’s office. Big baggage folks.

“Clinton goverened by polls and look where that ultimately got us.”

George Bush!

“I think Obama is in over his head and is dependant on his handlers.”

yeah – we’ve been hearing that from you guys since he started running – even as he whipped one of the most “experienced” debaters in three consecutive debates – and even after he disposed of Hillary Clinton. Keep telling yourself that this man can’t handle his business – you keep confusing him with Bush – who was a lap puppet for Cheney! Underestimating Obama has been the most boneheaded of right-wing mistakes…

This may remind you of Barack Hussein Obama:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/7787654.stm.

No license, no birth certificate? No job.

I really am looking forward to Obama’s inability to pay individual mortgages and fill gas tanks. These people will go beserk. They really believe he can do all he said he would do. Just shows how some people should never vote. But, then, they are so used to getting hand outs from the government why not believe him.

I don’t think Obama is that smart. I think he wears an earlpiece when out in public at all times. I think he is a stooge of his puppet master who tells him what to say. Witness when he flubbed, cut his eyes toward his ear and said “that’s what I said” like a clueless idiot. It may be that Emanuel and his masters are the puppet masters and they don’t know which way to jump now. They don’t know what Fitzgerald has. Probably there are tons of stuff he COULD have since Chicago is so corrupt and Fitzgerald has been working on this for years. After all, Obama came up through this sewer and associated with the creatures in this cesspool. If Obama was smart he would not act so arrogant and put peoples’ backs up. That is part of the act though to appear omnicient and above everyone else.

Hey wardouche, the election of Bush was a good thing.
For clinton I meant an unchecked rise in terrorism, the castrating of our military and intelligence services, and 9/11.

I see Ms. Warp’ed is still running off at the keyboard, giving women a bad name. Whatsamatter, Warp’ed? Can’t do basket weaving either? I originally thought you just tend to stray out of your knowledge element. Now I’m wondering if you have *any* element of knowledge.

Bush the liberator? he can’t even visit the countries he liberated save for under secrecy and extreme security – and just this year

Any POTUS/Great Satan… including your hero, Obama… must visit foreign countries under secrecy and extreme security. And Bush has made several trips to the ME. Obama only showed up under a challenge, and for a photo op. He preferred to talk to Ahmadinejad, and refused to speak with Petraeus when he was in Washington. I have every right and reason to question Obama’s judgment on meetings and visits. He has not shown good judgment prior to this.

The president of Iran was given a RED CARPET welcome and waltzed through the streets of Baghdad.

That you can be this dense is amazing. Of course Iran and Iraq should interface. They are neighbors. Their citizens have friends and relatives across the borders. You want Obama to “talk” to Ahmadinejad, despite his professed hostilities, but you don’t want Iraq to talk to their next door neighbor? A tad hypocritical, don’t you think?

But before you revise history too much more in that pea brain of yours, yes Ahmadinejad was given the honors of a visiting dignitary, as he should. However the street level view of the visit was entirely different.

For all the kisses and compliments at the highest levels in Baghdad, Ahmadinejad’s visit was seen very differently at the street level. Ahmmad Fouzi, a 23-year-old from Baghdad who is in the antiquities business, gave a typical reaction.

“Each person has his own view, and a person who is benefiting from this visit would certainly defend it,” he said. “But the Iraqi people, many of them, three-quarters or 99 percent of Iraqi people, do not like this Ahmadinejad visit.”

He said that Iranian support of insurgents and militias in Iraq made Ahmadinejad an unwelcome guest.

Indeed, for many Iraqi Sunnis, the visit seems to provide further evidence of Iran’s influence over Iraq’s largely Shiite government. There were demonstrations across the country. In the Sunni stronghold of Fallujah, placards called the Iranian president a serial killer for his support of Shiite militias in Iraq that have targeted Sunnis.

In the Karada neighborhood of Baghdad, fliers warned Iraqis not to be naive about Ahmadinejad. Today a visit, one said, tomorrow they will take control.

The above from NPR. From the New York Post, and more pointed account of the cold shoulder reception by the Iraqis.

IT had been billed as a “tri umph” for the Islamic Re public and “a slap in the face of the American Great Satan.” However, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s two-day state visit to Iraq last weekend showed the limits of Iranian influence in the newly liberated country.

Weeks of hard work by Iranian emissaries and pro-Iran elements in Iraq were supposed to ensure massive crowds thronging the streets of Baghdad and throwing flowers on the path of the visiting Iranian leader. Instead, no more than a handful of Iraqis turned up for the occasion. The numbers were so low that the state-owned TV channels in Iran decided not to use the footage at all.

Instead, much larger crowds gathered to protest Ahmadinejad’s visit. In the Adhamiya district of Baghdad, several thousand poured into the streets with cries of “Iranian aggressor, go home!”

In fact, Ahmadinejad had planned a visit to the mausoleums of Imam Hussein and Imam Ali. However the visit had to be cancelled because of huge protests at his presence there. Ah yes… the love was flowing, but only in your delusions.

I don’t blame the wingnuts for their efforts – after all, Clinton – the churlish one – would still beat Bush II in an election – whether in America or most any other nation in the world – and it drives you all nuts.

Really? So you’ve gone from master basket weaver to master psychic? Speculation. Had you any credibility on any issue, I might have at least honored your speculation. Such is not the case.

…while a MUSLIM MARXIST WHIPPED your Vietnam WAR HERO – a few points shy of a LANDSLIDE

I see… 52.8% of the population is a “landslide” in your view? Let’s see… Obama 311 electoral votes (approx 67%), McCain 157.

Hummm… try this one for size…Bill Clinton vs Bob Dole, 1996. Clinton 70.4% of the electoral votes totalling 379. (… to Obama’s 311…oops) Clinton’s popular vote? 49.23 % In Clinton’s first 1992 election, he still had more electoral college votes than Obama at 370. Any landslide there? Nope… but you think Obama’s win is a landslide?

Bush 41 was elected with 53.7% of the popular vote, and 426 electoral votes. Hailed as a landslide? Nope… Because it wasn’t. But using your criteria, he blew Obama’s win away…

Let’s look at the genuine landslide in recent history (at least mine, obviously not yours…) Reagan’s re’election v Mondale. Reagan, 97.6% of the electoral votes totalling 525. Even with those numbers, Reagan’s popular vote was only 58.77%. That still means that almost 42% of the nation – not a shoddy number – did *not* vote for Reagan in what is really a landslide.

Reagan didn’t do so badly on his first run in 1980 against Carter either… He had 90.9% of the electoral votes with 489… (what was Obama’s number again? 311???) Even with that large number of electoral college votes, the popular vote was still only 50.75%…. meaning 49.25% of the nation did *not* vote for him.

Now that we’ve seen your math is as deplorable as your Constitutional knowledge and Middle East current events, I cannot stress more that you hone your basket weaving skills…

Obama will keep making the right wing look small and petty …

Again, the guy and his admin haven’t taken office yet. Your devotion flows ad nauseum thick and heavy for one you know little about, and hasn’t done anything but make broken promises via “just words”. As one who watched with horror at what absolute power did to the other party – and knowing that the corruption crosses party lines – you should be very worried about just how this power will be handled… for they have no one to blame for their failures now. Not that they won’t try.

But you must always remember, over 47% of the voting public does not agree with you. You have no strong mandate. And those that are siding with you now because they didn’t like McCain’s wishy-washy version of conservatism will abandon you as fast as they abandoned the GOP in mid-terms.

Watching history takes patience… and is not comprised of frivolous predictions and taunts. I suggest you hold your cyber tongue least your foolish and emotional rantings come back to haunt you sooner than you think.

Mata, they are already trying to blame the Reps. The failure of the auto bailout was blamed on Reps by the MSM. Forget that the dems have the numbers to overide any Rep uprising. It was dem defectors that caused it not to pass.
Expect this small group of Republicans to suddenly have a more power than ever per the MSM covering for the dems.

Oh and Mata, while I admire the way you expose War as an ignorant moonbat (redundant), you are wasting your time as far as she is concerned. It does help those who want to learn see through the lunacy that war spews.

“Obama is a shrewd and skilled politician who is pragmatic not about what needs to be done for the people he represents, but pragmatic about what needs to be done for him.! (Scott Malensek)

LOL! You mean like Sadam Hussein, Hitler and all the radicals in the World? I hope you do not admire him for that like Larry W. does. “Shrewd, skilled, pragmatic”? I would rather say: “Vicious, crook and sneaky”. What a despicable person! I see NO quality in this guy, he can’t even speak without a teleprompter… ug…ug…ug. Did you see him lately? He looks like a loser… he is scared to death that everythinmg will be revealed about him. Fitz is working on Rezko these days and Obama will be indicted for the crooked deal of his house with Rezko and Blago’s wife. I have no respect for this corrupted bum and I hope he will end up in jail where he belongs. I pray for that day to come so the USA can survive to this evil man.

“But you must always remember, over 47% of the voting public does not agree with you.”

And so? No one’s asking their opinion….I don’t recall anyone on the right caring that Gore won the popular vote.

As to landslide:

“Ed Rollins, who helped engineer Reagan’s 1984 runaway, defines a landslide as “any time you get over 300 or 320 electoral votes.”

BTW – i said a few points SHY of a landslide – but still – face the fact – the skinny black marxist Muslim WHIPPED the great WAR HERO – the Vietnam Vet – the man who lived in a cage… as well as the famous HOCKEY Mom…

As to your apolgy for the Iranian visit to Iraq – BECAUSE THEY’RE neighbors – when do you expect Israel to get the red carpet treatment?

“Watching history takes patience… and is not comprised of frivolous predictions and taunts. I suggest you hold your cyber tongue least your foolish and emotional rantings come back to haunt you sooner than you think.”

Ummm – I’d suggest you read this site to see who rants – in fact, see Craig’s post above…

One point Scott. The country is not just Republicans and Democrats. Bush’s failure was not just with “Dems”, there are nearly as many independents as people who identify with either party.

Scott are you the same person as Scott Malesenk? I am confused here.

I do not agree with you and the charisma and facility to explain all that. Obama has the contrary of charisma in my eyes and he sure cannot speak without a teleprompter. Bush has charisma and can explain things very well. NO, people just hates the conservative Republicans Party, period.

I gave an explanation on another thread, I will repost it here so you can follow my thoughts on this matter:

“It would be like trying a democrat in Washington, DC. He would get off no matter what the evidence is. A republican would be convicted no matter if their was no real evidence (Scooter Libby).” (Barbara S) from another thread.

Yeap! You are right. And why would that be? I have been thinking about this for a while. I came to the conclusion that the word “Democrat” and “liberal” are misleading. Word matters.

“Democrats” comes from the word “democratic”. So people think that Democrats have to be democratic, which supposes: almost perfect. “Liberals” comes from the word «liberty”. So Liberals thinks they are for freedom. These two words are very confusing and misleading. Hell, everyone wants to be for freedom and democracy, so they think that being a Democrat liberal is COOL. WRONG, because these two words are far away from what they are supposed to mean.

THE SOLUTION? Change these two words. Instead of saying “liberal”, just say LEFTIST. And change the name of the Democratic Party who is everything but democratic. Find another name for it. Like the “Corrupted Party” for instance would be more representative.

As for the word “conservative”, it doesn’t sounds good… it looks like people with old mentalities who are too stubborn to change their views. I would just call them “people with values”. The name of the “Republican Party” is OK, since you are a Republic, that means that this Party is really for your country. Just don’t juxtapose it with the word “conservative” that doesn’t sound good to the idiots.

And so? No one’s asking their opinion….I don’t recall anyone on the right caring that Gore won the popular vote.

Ms. Warp’ed, one doesn’t even to leave a hole for you to saunter in. You not only fall in easily, but dig the dang hole yourself.

Of course no one cares that Gore won the popular vote because, per our US Constitution … which you demonstrate repeatedly to have so little knowledge of… the POTUS is selected via the Electoral College. This is done to make sure that LA, NY, Chicago, Miami, Dallas, Atlanta, Seattle, and other large urban areas are not the only votes that count in a national election. … of which the POTUS election also is not.

But I can see that you’re the type when you are in the 40%ers, you demand your minority voice be heard and respected. But if you’re just over the 50% mark, the others be damned and are dirt beneath your toes. Typical self-centered ‘tude that earns points for depicting the lows of humanity.

Nowhere did I apologize for Ahmadinejad’s visit to Iran. Frankly, any workable and pacifist relations between those two countries are not subject my approval…. nor yours. However the two being at odds that may erupt in violence is a concern of the world. You remain hypocritical…. not to mention incapable of parsing sentences adeptly.

So according to your quintessential expert Ed Rollins, 6 out of the last 8 POTUS elections have been “landslides”. Gosh darn… wonder how the media has missed so many notable events? Especially that a nation which has always been historically divided down the middle has so many “landslides” to boast of, merely so you can claim “landslide” for Obama. Pathetic how those goal posts move as to lift up “that one”.
