Which Biden do we believe?

Which Biden is it? Dementia Joe or Crafty joe?

Well, it’s been quite the interesting 24 hours.  Special Counsel Robert Hur spelled it out very clearly for the world. Joe Biden might not be mentally fit to be President but nearly everybody is missing the point. Determining the truth would be a very simple matter.

Perhaps the most entertaining during all of what’s happened is the mad scrambling by the left and its lackeys in the media to dismiss the truth. Many did as did Andrew Weissman – make the blanket assertion that Biden was completely exonerated and had committed no crime.

Absolutely false. SC Hur clearly stated that there is evidence Biden willfully took, retained and shared classified information. Then reporters, including Peter Doocy, would state that Biden was described as a “well meaning elderly man with a poor memory.” That’s not what he said. Hur said that should Biden be charged and face trial, that “Mr. Biden would likely present himself to a jury, as he did during our interview of him, as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory.” And THAT is why he chose not to bring charges.

In other words, he’d fake it if he wasn’t really gone by then. But given the phony umbrage of the left, Hur probably should have just forwarded his recommendation for prosecution. But I suspect that Hur had been “advised” by Garland that Biden was going to get the Comey/Hillary treatment. Once again, the ugly specter of the two-tiered justice system arises again. Biden stole classified information from a SCIF. He had no authority to do so. As President, Trump has a reasonable argument to take his papers. Biden’s alleged cooperation in returning them is akin to a bank robber cooperating with the cops after the fact. He still committed the crime. There does not appear to be an effort to destroy evidence as Hillary did. But this gives Trump a real hook. Biden stole the materials and then disclosed them and is not charged with anything. Trump took papers and is charged with taking them. It doesn’t get clearer than that. Julie Kelly:

Trump charged with willfully retaining 21 documents with “TOP SECRET” markings. Biden, according to a chart at the end of Hur’s report, retained 18 files with “TOP SECRET” markings. Trump charged with willfully retaining 9 files with “SECRET” markings. Biden had 36 papers with “SECRET” markings.

Watching Biden in his indignation might be sad in another world but given his nastiness I have no sympathy. Biden came out angry last night and intended to prove he still had some acuity and it didn’t go well. He referred to al-Sisi as the President of Mexico. al-Sisi is the President of Egypt. Then he vented about the accusation that he could not remember when his son died. He argued that it wasn’t true and then lost his train of thought describing the rosary he says he wears every day.

Some of us remember that Biden has more than once claimed that his son perished in Iraq.

Let’s be clear. Biden was not “exonerated.” Hur declined to recommend charges because Biden could not remember key events, such as how these materials even came into his possession. He claimed he told his ghost writer that he “just found all the classified stuff downstairs.” Consistent with his total inability to accept responsibility for anything, Biden blamed his staff.

“I take responsibility for not having seen exactly what my staff was doing…things that appeared in my garage, that came out of my home, were moved not by me but my staff. “

If his staff stole the classified materials why are they not being investigated and charged?

The bottom line is that Hur found evidence that Biden willfully took, retained and disclosed information but declined to prosecute because of Biden’s “diminished faculties.” If Biden is intact mentally as he argues, then he should be charged under the espionage act.

It was during Hur’s investigation that Biden’s memory really went south

One need not be very cynical to easily see the plot at work here. During the SC interviews Biden portrayed himself as a feeble old man with a failing memory but in public demands to be seen the opposite. Either way Biden is lying. He either lied to Hur and the ghost writer, or he’s lying to the country. There is a way to ferret out the truth. There are transcripts and recordings. Biden’s ghost writer compiled both written transcripts and recorded interviews.

Biden’s alleged lack of guilt hinges entirely on his being of diminished faculties. This could all be cleared up with the release of the recordings with his ghost writer and of Hur’s interview with Biden.  Mark Zwonitzer, the ghost writer, had compiled transcripts and made audio recordings of his interviews with Biden in 2017 for Biden’s book, which he deleted when he learned of the investigation:

Special Counsel Robert Hur’s Thursday report, in which he concluded Biden, 81, “willfully retained and disclosed classified materials,” also revealed that Zwonitzer expunged audio of the commander-in-chef that had “significant evidentiary value.”

Zwonitzer made the recordings while talking to Biden to gather material for the now-president’s 2017 memoir “Promise Me, Dad,” the second collaboration between the ghostwriter and the chief executive.

The 61-year-old told investigators he “was aware that there was an investigation” at the time he scrubbed the material, and replied, “I’m not going to say how much of the percentage it was of my motivation.”

“When asked whether he deleted the recordings to try and prevent investigators from obtaining them, Zwonitzer said that he did not,” the report explained, noting that the author claimed he didn’t think investigators would approach him for information.

But Hur’s investigators were able to retrieve them

Biden should be demanding that the recordings and interviews be released and prove his assertions. Or not. Either way we have the answer.
