The Senate immigration bill codifies into law everything that’s wrong now

Loading

The Senate finally unveiled the text of its latest piece of garbage. It is a Trojan horse. It is the hill to die on. It takes everything that is wrong with the current crisis and codifies it into law.

Here’s Bill Melugin’s summary:

But as always, the devil is in the details.

NBC put it this way:

Senators unveil bipartisan bill to impose tougher asylum and border laws

That’s complete bullsh*t.  The monstrosity is chock full of liberal wet dreams.  I’m going to highlight some of the most egregious of them.

The bill allots $3.5 billion to promote illegal immigration to the US

It provides another $2.3 billion to NGOs that facilitate illegal immigration

The following are THE WORST.

The bill would take away states’ (like Texas) rights to sue in Federal Court and it puts all decisions into the far-left DC District Court.

The bill would strip the power of Texas and other states to challenge some of its provisions in their local federal court.

Conservative commentators were quick to denounce the provision, contained on page 221 of the bill. Bill Shipley, who was a federal prosecutor for over 20 years, decried the its court provisions on X, formerly Twitter, on Sunday.

“This would prevent plaintiffs – like the State of Texas – from filing suit in Texas federal courts. This is corrupt,” he wrote.

After outlining the provisions under which immigrants can seek judicial review of a deportation order, the bill states:

“The United States District Court for the District of Columbia shall have sole and original jurisdiction to hear challenges, whether constitutional or otherwise, to the validity of this section or any written policy directive, written policy guideline, written procedure, or the implementation thereof.”

It creates “Asylum officers”.

It demeans Border Patrol officers

And the cherry on top is this. If an “Asylum Officer” has a negative finding for an illegal there are unlimited avenues of recourse. Judges are no longer needed. The adversarial system is demolished. In its place is installed the USCIS, the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. You know who ran the USCIS from 2009-2013? This guy:

Who do you think he’s going to turn away?

No. Body.

The USCIS would be a rubber stamp for all illegals. This bill is the trap liberals set for the likes of James Lankford and Mitch McConnell. Don’t listen to liberal morons who claim the GOP hasn’t done anything or doesn’t want immigration reform. HR2 was passed last year but the Senate refuses to entertain it, favoring this trash instead. Also remember this:

At 7 day rolling average of 5,000 encounters per day, or 8,500 encounters in a single day, DHS is *required* to shut the border down, and turn away anyone who crosses.

In 2019 former DHS Secretary Jeh Johnson said 1,000 per day constituted a crisis. Now we have to wait for 5,000?

It’s craptastic.

I wish we could see a televised hearing on just what Schumer and his Dems think they compromised on in this sham of an immigration bill. I want them to show their work. Also, have them explain why they think that the things they left in that the House Republicans don’t like now are such a great idea. Why are they in there at all?

It is very simple. Those who qualify under present law, can. Those who don’t,can’t. Those here unlawfully should be prosecuted stringently and deported with their imprisonment suspended for life. If they qualify for RICO case status, then, they should face those consequences, and then be deported with lifetime bans. We should build special holding facilities in disadvantaged subsaharan jurisdictions where the facilities could be much like consulates and provide well paying employment to local labor. That way, when the inmates are set free with a one-way ticket to their homeland, they should return home. Also, if the border is overwhelmed, close it to human traffic. You’ll see Mexico fold when cross-border tourism collapses.

Also, if the border is overwhelmed, close it to human traffic. You’ll see Mexico fold when cross-border tourism collapses.

That’s what Trump threatened and Mexico folded up. Robin Ware/Robert L. Peters/JRB Ware/Pedo Peter/idiot Biden let Mexico make him dance to their tune. It’s the simple difference between Trump, a leader that sincerely cares about his country and Robin Ware/Robert L. Peters/JRB Ware/Pedo Peter/idiot Biden, a corrupt, lying thief that only cares about squeezing everything out of the nation and the people for his own benefit.

Augusto, you pretty much hit the nail on the head. Mexico should be declared a hostile nation (as it really has never been a friend to the U.S.) and the border closed for a month. See how happy Mexico is then and if they decide to cooperate with the U.S.

Tourism accounts for less than 8% of Mexico’s economy. Manufacturing represent over 89%.

Declaring them an adversarial country and sanctioning them is an easy fix for non compliance. Stopping all money transfers from illegals here to cartels or family wouldnt help their economy.
Lets see if they can buy all their own products.

Even a while back, those remittances back home accounted for Mexico’s 2nd largest export income, after oil.

And oil is 2%?

I have a hard time understanding the $400 million for attorneys for illegal immigrants. They KNEW they were coming to our border for the sole purpose of breaking our immigration laws. Maybe they should bring their own attorney.

Robin Ware/Robert L. Peters/JRB Ware/Pedo Peter/idiot Biden made this disaster and crisis himself. He did it intentionally and the entire Democrat party (with a few exceptions later when the devastating effects became too much to bear) has been all for it. Now they foist a bill upon the American people hoping to nail the border wide open forever more.

Democrats hate this country and the taxpaying citizens.

02/05/24 – Mike Johnson Faces Rebellion From America’s Largest Lobbying Group

America’s largest lobbying group has thrown its weight behind a bipartisan bill that would reimagine the nation’s immigration laws while providing aid to Israel and Ukraine in a broadside to conservative House Speaker Mike Johnson.

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which represents and advocates for businesses, said on Monday that it was “pleased to see desperately needed border security, asylum, and immigration reforms included in the emergency supplemental funding proposal before the U.S. Senate.”

In a statement, executive vice president and chief policy officer for the group, Neil Bradley, wrote: “The economic disruption and human suffering wrought by our border crisis have become so severe that Congress cannot afford to ignore these problems any longer.

“We look forward to working with Members of Congress to pass these commonsense measures that will improve America’s security by addressing our southern border and supporting Ukraine and Israel.”

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce isn’t exactly a far-left lobbying group, is it?

Trump has led the GOP so far off course that they’ve completely lost touch with mainstream American reality.

02/05/24 – Chamber of Commerce calls for immediate passage of border bill

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce called on Congress to pass a bipartisan immigration and defense deal on Monday after negotiators unveiled the text of the long-awaited agreement on border security and funding for Ukraine and Israel.

“The U.S. Chamber of Commerce is pleased to see desperately needed border security, asylum, and immigration reforms included in the emergency supplemental funding proposal before the U.S. Senate,” said Neil Bradley, executive vice president and chief policy officer of the Chamber of Commerce, in a statement.

“The economic disruption and human suffering wrought by our border crisis have become so severe that Congress cannot afford to ignore these problems any longer,” Bradley continued. “We look forward to working with Members of Congress to pass these commonsense measures that will improve America’s security by addressing our southern border and supporting Ukraine and Israel.”

The $118 billion deal includes about $60 billion to support Ukraine in its nearly two-year war with Russia, as well as $20 billion in border funding, $14 billion in security assistance for Israel and $10 billion in humanitarian aid.

The endorsement from the business lobbying giant comes as the deal faces pushback from hard-line conservatives and allies of former President Trump.

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) declared the deal “dead on arrival” in the House, shortly after the 370-page bill was unveiled Sunday night.

“I’ve seen enough,” Johnson said in a post on X, formerly Twitter. “This bill is even worse than we expected, and won’t come close to ending the border catastrophe the President has created. As the lead Democrat negotiator proclaimed: Under this legislation, ‘the border never closes.’”

House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) similarly vowed the bill would not receive a vote in the lower chamber, and House Republican Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.) slammed the deal as an “absolute non-starter.”

Trump also weighed in on the newly unveiled bill text Monday, dismissing it as a “great gift to the Democrats” and a “Death Wish for the Republican Party.”

“It takes the HORRIBLE JOB the Democrats have done on Immigration and the Border, absolves them, and puts it all squarely on the shoulders of Republicans,” the former president said in a post on Truth Social.

Trump has all but destroyed the Republican Party as a vehicle for the traditional conservative principles it once embodied. If he tells them to drink the poisoned Kool Aid, they’ll drink the poisoned Kool Aid.

Oooh, the Chamber of Commerce? Who the hell do you think cares about that?

You put a teaspoon of sewage into a vat of the finest wine, you still have a vat of sewage.

Trump has been the only — ONLY — GOP politician since Reagan to deliver on those principles. All others have given merely lip service. You don’t give a shit about them. Stop pretending you do.

HR2.

So, the way the government should work, in your view, is to be controlled by lobbyists? I can remember when you leftists thought that was a bad thing.

Yeah, the US CofC wants cheap labor, just like the Democrats want slaves that can vote. In both cases, to HELL with the American people.

Knowing full well you don’t give a half a shit about actual border security and restraining illegal immigration one bit, what is it you are actually clamoring for in this waste of time and effort?

The U.S. Chamber of Commerce isn’t exactly a far-left lobbying group, is it?

It is when it comes to illegal immigration. Those illegals provide low wage workers for the members of the Chamber of Commerce and the CofC has been pro illegal immigration for years.

If Barry was right 62 years ago; and Ronny was right from 1947 ( first utterance of ” … THE GOVERNMENT IS THE PROBLEM!”) to 1989 – then Chamber has been left since 2000.

Chamber has been left for decades!

Deb Fischer (R-NE)Under current law, the president already has the power to shutdown the border, there’s no need to pass a new bill. This isn’t about the border at all, this bill is about the 60.06 billion support for Ukraine, that’s what they’re really after. What they have allotted for the border will most likely be spent giving the illegals more free stuff and not securing the border, you can almost bank on it.

This is from page 150 of the “Invasion Authorization Act.”

7(6) REVIEW OF PROTECTION DETERMINA8 TIONS.—Except for reviews of constitutional claims,
9 no court shall have jurisdiction to review a protec
10 tion determination issued by U.S. Citizenship and
11 Immigration Services under this section.
12 ‘‘(7) FINAL REMOVAL ORDERS.—No court shall

14 issued under this section.
15 ‘‘(j) JUDICIAL REVIEW.—Notwithstanding any other
16 provision of this Act, judicial review of any decision or ac

18 States District Court for the District of Columbia, which
19 shall have sole and original jurisdiction to hear challenges,

21 section or any written policy directive, written policy
22 guideline, written procedure, or the implementation there
23 of, issued by or under the authority of the Secretary to
24 implement this section.

Let that sink in, the only place where judicial review can occur is in the DC district court.

…..which is itself spectacularly undemocratic and unconstitutional.

But it’s OK if you’re a Democrat!

the only place where judicial review can occur is in the DC district court.
Since when does Congress rule the Judicial branch?

Until this proposed bill, all bills had to have transparency regarding a bill’s cost to legislators and the President.
But this bill states:

(a) STATUTORY PAYGO SCORECARDS.—The budgetary effects of this division shall not be entered on either PAYGO scorecard maintained pursuant to section 4(d) of the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010.

It goes on to state

(b) SENATE PAYGO SCORECARDS.—The budgetary effects of this division shall not be entered on any PAYGO scorecard maintained for purposes of section 4106 of H. Con. Res. 71 (115th Congress).

(c) CLASSIFICATION OF BUDGETARY EFFECTS.— Notwithstanding Rule 3 of the Budget Scorekeeping Guidelines set forth in the joint explanatory statement of the committee of conference accompanying Conference Report 105–217 and section 250(c)(8) of the Balanced Budget and Emergency Deficit Control Act of 1985, the budgetary effects of this division shall not be estimated—

(1) for purposes of section 251 of such Act;

(2) for purposes of an allocation to the Committee on Appropriations pursuant to section 302(a) of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974; and

(3) for purposes of paragraph (4)(C) of section 3 of the Statutory Pay-As-You-Go Act of 2010 as being included in an appropriation Act.

This means we never get an estimate of what this monster costs.

And, has anyone recently explained to greg the difference between Main Street Chambers of Commerce VS the national Chamber of Commerce?
I know I have at least three times in the past.

joe was just on the news saying “we need to take care of the needs of these people,” meaning of illegals.

Um, no, we don’t.
We have plenty of needy people joe ignores.
We have laws that, if followed by joe, would have sent them back or never let them in in the first place.
The country is broke, the states are broke, the counties are broke and the cities are broke.

All joe is up to is vote buying.

BTW For those <80 because of the broad reduction in crime related costs the feds had a budget surplus 3 of the next 5 years. Inflation was NEGATIVE- deflation =. ALL WORKING AMERICANS GOT A BIG , TAX FREE PAY RAISE! Pay check bought more things!

Deporting not only worked; BUT WORKED VERY WELL FOR WORKING AMERICANS; other than the UNIPARTY.

HERE! HERE! WELL DONE!

joe is nationalizing the Alaskan National Guard to support the federal government’s U.S.-Mexico border control efforts,” which is to say joe’s opening up of the Southern Border to the illegal invasion.
BUT only AFTER the election!
And only IF the Alaskan National Guard will police his open border policy.

So, instead of securing the border, Robin Ware/Robert L. Peters/JRB Ware/Pedo Peter/idiot Biden will send troops to UN-SECURE what Abbott has totally secured. He’ll wait, of course, until AFTER the election so he can continue to lie about wanting to secure the border after he destroyed all the border security. Destruction and disaster is all Democrats can produce.

Biden: Who do you serve?

Republicans haven’t won a popular national election in two decades.

About the time electronic machines were widely adopted. Hmmmm
“The Help America Vote Act assumed that touch screen technology was going to be the future of voting,” says Jones, “and in the early 2000s, there was a big wave of adoption of touch screen voting machines, and then a big backlash.”

There’s no such thing as a “popular national election,” you dipshit.

Rand Paul Blasts Mitch McConnell: “This Has Been a Ruse – He’s Working with Biden and Schumer to Funnel Your Money to Ukraine- He’s Using Minority of Big Government Republicans to Work with Democrats” (VIDEO)

Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) went off on the House Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) following the embarrassing defeat today of the Democrats’ open borders bill and funding bonanza for Ukraine.
Senator Paul joined Laura Ingraham for a recap of today’s vote on the Ukraine funding – open border monstrosity.
Rand Paul accused McConnell of working with Biden and Schumer to send your tax dollars to Ukraine!

Sen. Rand Paul: From the beginning I think this has been a ruse. It hasn’t ever really been about the border. That was a token, that was a bone that was going to be thrown to conservatives. But they were always worried that if conservatives got wind that it was a ruse, that it wasn’t a real border reform, if people like Laura Ingraham or Hannity somehow got wind of this, that you would discuss the bill, look at the bill, and that it would be destroyed. So the game all along long was to keep this in secret from us, but also in the secret from anybody that might look at it and might criticize it. This was an organized plan from the very beginning from our leadership to keep this out of the hands of any conservatives that might criticize it.

Laura Ingraham: Well, we got our hands on it. And then they said it was Internet rumors. Langford kept saying these are Internet rumors. And then you open up the bill, it says 5000 people.

Sen. Rand Paul: Yeah, it’s going to be an emergency after 5000. What about an emergency after 700,000 people already came in the past two months?

Laura Ingraham: Senator, moving on. Senator McConnell was asked about the criticism that he’s faced over this disaster of a bill. He told Politico, I’ve had a small group of persistent critics this whole time I’ve been in the job. The reason we’ve been talking about the border is because the persistent critics wanted to. You can’t pass a bill without dealing with a democratic president and democratic senate. What of that? I mean, Democrats seem to get a lot done when they have a republican president or republican senate?

Sen. Rand Paul: He’s completely out of touch with Kentucky Republicans, with conservative Republicans advocating for all this money to go to Ukraine. We’re not for that. I mean, nobody in Kentucky is for that. His approval ratings in Kentucky are almost below zero. They are the lowest of any elected official in the United States. He is working with Biden and Schumer to funnel your money to Ukraine, but he’s not working with conservatives. So he is in the minority of his caucus. There’s maybe ten of them that will vote with all of the Democrats. He is using the minority of the big government Republicans up here to work with Democrats to send your money to Ukraine.
