obama blames the Russians for hacking but all I can hear is “you can keep your doctor and your plan no matter what”- Updated

Rolling Stone magazine, no stranger to fake news, has its doubts about the obama regime’s assertion that the Russians are behind the “hacking” of the DNC.

The problem with this story is that, like the Iraq-WMD mess, it takes place in the middle of a highly politicized environment during which the motives of all the relevant actors are suspect. Nothing quite adds up.

If the American security agencies had smoking-gun evidence that the Russians had an organized campaign to derail the U.S. presidential election and deliver the White House to Trump, then expelling a few dozen diplomats after the election seems like an oddly weak and ill-timed response. Voices in both parties are saying this now.

As I said, Rolling Stone magazine is no stranger to fake news. It went off the rails with a a story about rape on campus:

While it is “impossible to say” what happened to Jackie, Reason’s Robbie Soave writes, the Rolling Stone article is clearly false.

“Not slightly false, or partly false, but false,” he says. “And if Rolling Stone had done its job, the magazine might well have determined that before such a journalistic catastrophe unfolded.”

Rolling Stone is not the only doubter:

“What they released doesn’t add anything to the discussion [about attribution],” said Rob Lee, founder of the critical infrastructure cybersecurity company Dragos.
The technical data in the report, security experts say, is a very basic footprint pointing to Russian intruders — and one that frequently turns out to be a false positive.

“What they released is what we would consider to be the lowest form of indicators of compromise,” Lee said.

Then Lee drops the hammer:

“Said more simply: the written portion of the report has little to nothing to do with the intended purpose or the technical data released,” Lee said in a blog post.

barack obama is the President who cried wolf. democrats are trying their best to find an excuse that will stick- a scapegoat- for why they lost the election. Even the Huffington Post recognizes that obama’s SJW attempt to lurch the country into leftward into socialism has lead to the destruction of the democrat party.

“You look at the destruction of the Democratic Party under Barack Obama’s leadership and you have to wonder, what was the political — what were the electoral benefits that he gave to the party?” Stein asked on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.

“He leaves them in a much worse position,” Stein continued. “The states are decimated, they lost control of the House and Senate, the governorships are decimated.”

What neither obama nor democrats ever mention is that John Podesta willingly handed over his password in a phishing scheme. Aside from obama already asserting that hackers did not sway the election, do you know a single person who was swayed by the Podesta emails?

I don’t.

Then we have the problem that pretty much everything obama says is a lie. So when I hear obama whining about the Russians, all I hear is “You can keep your doctor and your plan no matter what” and it seems likely that once again he is depending on the “stupidity of the American voter.”

To paraphrase that insurance commercial, “Lying. When you’re President obama it’s what you do”

UPDATE

Seems someone else has doubts about the obama fable:

Talk about disappointments. The US government’s much-anticipated analysis of Russian-sponsored hacking operations provides almost none of the promised evidence linking them to breaches that the Obama administration claims were orchestrated in an attempt to interfere with the 2016 presidential election.

The 13-page report, which was jointly published Thursday by the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI, billed itself as an indictment of sorts that would finally lay out the intelligence community’s case that Russian government operatives carried out hacks on the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and Clinton Campaign Chief John Podesta and leaked much of the resulting material. While security companies in the private sector have said for months the hacking campaign was the work of people working for the Russian government, anonymous people tied to the leaks have claimed they are lone wolves. Many independent security experts said there was little way to know the true origins of the attacks.

Sadly, the JAR, as the Joint Analysis Report is called, does little to end the debate. Instead of providing smoking guns that the Russian government was behind specific hacks, it largely restates previous private-sector claims without providing any support for their validity. Even worse, it provides an effective bait and switch by promising newly declassified intelligence into Russian hackers’ “tradecraft and techniques” and instead delivering generic methods carried out by just about all state-sponsored hacking groups.

Obama is about that level of honest in this.
His own FBI won’t back him up.
They say, a Russian-originated string of code was found on a laptop in some US gov’t facility.
(Or, was it a DNC office?)
Big deal.
I’m pretty sure we all have strands of codes from all over the planet on our computers.
It doesn’t make us Russian or in the employ of Russia.
Besides, the hack involved Podesta’s computer, not the voting machines all over which are not connected to the web.
Besides, as DrJ pointed out, who was swayed?
I only know of one Dem, a young woman, who went from tepid-for-Hillary to staying home because the weather was bad.

First, basing their conclusion on a weak response from Obama? Come on, Rolling Stone; what other kind of response IS there from Obama?

I found this, which says, basically, that the malware said to have been used to hack is not Russian and it is not of the type to do what was done. It’s all technical mumbo-jumbo, but the actual invasive software is included. Perhaps someone can make something of it.

Indeed, I have asked before, what is supposed to be the actual end result of this “hacking”? Whoever hacked or released emails, the actual question is, what was the result? What did they actually DO? No evidence of changing or creating votes has been found or accused. The corrupt left wing media did not exploit or even report on most of the revelations. What WAS the actual result of the released emails?

I didn’t need the emails to make up my mind; Hillary’s documented record of corruption and failure was what I based my opinion on. All the DNC and Podesta emails did was confirm what liberal hypocrisy already indicated. So, what did this nefarious attack on the poor, innocent Democrats accomplish? I say nothing.

The left has spent NO time trying to counter what the emails contain, which itself is corrosive. The emails reveal lying, racism, homophobia, anti-Semitism and a general disdain for the people they beg money and support from. I wonder, when will the people that support these charlatans realize they are lied to on a regular basis (including the hacking) and that there is always a REASON for the lies?

They lost the election because of what they promised and what they delivered.

DJ, I realize your hatred of Obama will take you to the lowest level in order for you to polish the knob on your Honest Don but your denial of being hacked along with you aceptance of it ( after all as you say “who did it sway?”) should disturb even the loonies of your cohorts here.

Even if your Honest Don doesn’t hand Putin the keys to the mint (which he probably will for a price-or profitable business deals, or forgiveness of his debts or such) it should be alarming that Putin can continue and sway the elections of our allies. Get it?

At least Obama is addressing it (albeit Honest Don will likely undermine it) much to the delight of members of both parties- even those that like you, despise the black guy in the WH.

@Ajay42302:

1. Can’t get through the first sentence without mentioning Trump even though the subject has nothing to do with him.

2. Uses the false “hacked” meme when there was no hacking, only reckless Democrats giving their communications away.

3. Makes up fantasies about imagined future Trump actions. (See No 1 above.)

4. My uncle, who was an intelligence research analyst for the State Dept, told me long ago: “If your communications are intercepted, that’s YOUR fault.”

5. If the emails had shown Hillary, Podesta and rest faithfully doing the business of the American people, Hillary would have looked great and might have even been elected. (See No 4 above).

6. Hillary was an idiot to use an unsecured server in a city where diplomatic vans from multiple countries roam constantly listening to everything they can pick up. As for Podesta, everyone one of us gets those phishing emails daily. We aren’t stupid enough to fall for them but he was.

7. From the comment by Ajay43202 right through the actions of Hillary and her staff, enjoy liberal genius on display.

Obama is as steright as a bolt of lightning lower then a snake in a wagon rut stinks worst then a roadkill skunk on the interstate in the middle of july and is as honest as a liberal politcian and is as ugly as they come his face you make vulture gag a slimey bottom dwelling muck sucker

In case some of you were duped into believing this was evidence that proved Russia hacked the US elections, John McAfee ( creator of McAfee, the first commercial antivirus software) said “if it looks like the Russians did it, then I can guarantee you it was not the Russians.”

Binney (the NSA executive who created the agency’s mass surveillance program for digital information, served as the senior technical director within the agency, managed six thousand NSA employees, the 36-year NSA veteran widely regarded as a “legend” within the agency and the NSA’s best-ever analyst and code-breaker, mapped out the Soviet command-and-control structure before anyone else knew how, and so predicted Soviet invasions before they happened) said

I expected to see the IP’s or other signatures of APT’s 28/29 [the entities which the U.S. claims hacked the Democratic emails] and where they were located and how/when the data got transferred to them from DNC/HRC [i.e. Hillary Rodham Clinton]/etc. They seem to have been following APT 28/29 since at least 2015, so, where are they?Further, how did they transfer that data to Wikileaks?….
They (Obama’s Admin) don’t have clear evidence.

All Obama has “evidence” of is that a Vermont state electric utility, Burlingont Electric, had found on one of its laptops not connected to the power grid a malware code the U.S. government says is used by Russian hackers. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2016-12-31/russian-hackers-said-penetrate-us-electricity-grid-using-outdated-ukrainian-malware

China’s real breach of the federal government’s network in 2015, which exposed the data of millions of government workers.
A White House statement wasn’t even issued. No action publicly was taken. Not one thing happened..
Cause actually breeching Government data bases is nothing compared to exposing the hypocrites at the DNC.

I have talked to several of my IT friends who work for the Federal Government after reading the “proof” about the Russian hacking Obama has put forth. They do not believe it. They all believe that the hacking was a result of inadequate precautions on the part of the people whose accounts were hacked. If this is so, I wonder how much more of the news put out by the White House is fake? I would hope there is some integrity left there?

@Randy #8 –
The lack of adequate precautions is the primary cause of hacks. A hack does not need to be sophisticated. Even a malware attack does not need to be sophisticated. A system, personal, business or government, becomes infected more often from someone introducing something from a dubious source. They old days, it was by way of the 3.5-in floppy disk. These days, much easier via thumb drive. Also, malware designers like to insert old code and dated identifiers to mislead security analysts (.cf Yahoo hack).

By the same token, I wouldn’t be quick to dismiss this entire matter as “fake”. The lack of substantial detail is not surprising – either certain tools are being used and/or certain nodes being accessed. But, it also says a report for public release was so rushed and giving indication that the process and personnel involved are inept.
