Herman Cain Makes It Official…

Loading

On this slow news day here is some red meat for ya. Herman Cain making it official:

Charles Krauthammer believes he doesn’t stand a chance:

And that might very well be so but the man has always come out on top when no one believed he could:

People who say that Herman Cain has no chance of winning the nomination for the Republican Party, or win the in presidency, I simply say “Thank you.” Because all my life, I have been in situations where I wasn’t supposed to become VP of Pillsbury, I wasn’t supposed to be able to turn Godfather’s Pizza around. I wasn’t supposed to succeed in climbing the corporate ladder in corporate America. So to the people who say I don’t have a chance, I say “Thank you.” Because that inspires me.

Way to early to call him a loser in this race before it really even starts.

At this point, I have no opinion as to his comparative worth as a candidate or whether I would vote for him. I do think however that he could have a significant impact on the process that hopefully will end up with a viable, electable Republican candidate. It will be very difficult for the media to paint his criticisms of Obama as racist as they will certainly do to any White candidate and have already done to Palin and others. That means that criticism from the White candidates that mirrors Cain’s criticisms will gain some immunity from that charge.

On the Republican side, he will force the other candidates to be true to their conservative roots. I agree with the characterization that he is the most conservative candidate in the pack and he will stand in stark contrast to the kinds of Gingrich explosions that we recently witnessed. He will have to refine his positions and get up to speed on foreign policy. However, he is obviously a smart man and he has a strong resume. I would love to see him debate Obama.

I am glad he is in the race. He will do us all some good.

Disturber

I’ll second on this one. He’ll stir the pot quite nicely. I’m personally hoping that Sarah jumps in but then I’m a bit biased. I just love a woman that can shoot and looks hot doing it. Yeah call me a sexist but I’m male, over 60 and not dead yet. Of course she loves this country and believes in it and that doesn’t hurt one bit.

I have a good feeling about Cain, I feel he is a man of character.

I think Herman Cain may just be our black version of Ronald Reagan…. and I agree, he is a man of good Character, and so was Ronald Reagan….It’s early in the run – yes, anything can happen. I think Herman Cain’s flood gates opened up after the Fox debates a few weeks back… He came out of the debates very well… I am going to continue watching Herman Cain… There are some very good interviews out there with him, he is very articulate and how refreshing – he doesn’t use a teleprompter….

How about West and Cain together?

American Thinker has a nice article up:
Top Ten Reasons to Support Herman Cain for President

It is a really good read.
Gets you thinking more politically and less Marquis de Queensbury Rules.
Part of #5:

A Cain candidacy would be in lockstep with what the country told Congress it wanted in November 2010. It will be an extension of the 2010 campaign, and that’s preferable to a presidential election that will distract from the 2010 results.

The almost 100 comments are interesting reading as well.
Cain, it appears, is FOR the FairTax.

Its going to take a West or Cain to beat the incumbent and this filth (sic) column. This is just awesome news for the G.O.P. West strikes me as a man that keeps his promises, which complicates things for him to be a 2012 contender. He strikes me as a modern day George Washington. I actually believe it in his character to obtain permission from his constituents (His current CO) before considering a 2012 presidential run. In Cain, I detect a Lincoln! When this republic was so divided 150 years ago, we needed a Lincoln; And, we were granted one! Here we are again. The mission: To preserve the Republic. Decisions, decisions!

I like Cain, either as the front man, with Bachmann or Palin as VP, or with Bachmann or Palin as the Presidential candidate, with Cain as the VP.

No like for Romney.
No confidence that Newt is conservative enough.
No doubt that either of these two, assuming they could actually win, which I highly doubt, would make a marked change in direction from the liberal progressiveness of Obama.

“You kids today, you don’t know how good you’ve got it. Why, back in 1979 inflation was so bad that nickels cost fifty cents, the Dow was minus a million, they were giving out food stamps as stock dividends and you couldn’t walk to your garage without getting held hostage by Iranians.”

-PJ O’rourke (1991)

I would love to see a Cain/Bachmann ticket. They both have good character, they both are honest people, and they both love this great country and will continue to inspire us. Both of them are leaders. They would make a dynamic ticket.

I like Cain a lot. I was hoping he would run. And I think that he can win the ticket. I would like to see Palin as his VP, and or Palin and Cain. But I really favor Cain more. Its way past time that we have a leader like Cain. All the Naysayers are your typical parties hacks. They can’t stand the idea of an individual like Cain winning the bid for the Whitehouse. They all fear that they may actually have to make it clear where they stand on an issue. Every post I read here sound just like what I and many others are thinking now in America.
The Hacks pull out their old and worn out excueses that he has never held political office! What to do! What an affront to the Gods! Thats exactly why we need a man/woman like Cain. And yes its will be nice to have Cain set the standard at the debates for how to answer a question, state the problem and then give the solution. Instead of your typical mandy pandy beat around the bush answer that your average politican gives today. I was excited about Trump just because it was so nice to hear someone tell it like it is. But we have not been this excited about a contender since old Ronnie. And he is Black! That fact alone will drive the liberals insane. I can here it already, “hes an oreo, and uncle Tom, etc..” It want surprise me at all to see Cain take the lead and keep it once he gets more name recognition.

The one thing I like about Cain is that he, unlike most politicians, can and will make ” a long story short”, meaning that he won’t beat around the bush with an answer. I like that in a person- someone who won’t waste my time making verbal love to the TOTUSES (or is it TOTI? I never know-)

I’ve been Pro-Cain for several months. He is one of the few candidates I would actually be excited about. I’d love to see a Cain/West or a Cain/Bachmann ticket.

Besides his philosophical superiority over Obama, Cain understands the idea of authority and hiring good people under you–obviously a president cannot do it all by himself–so a man who has run a large organization is ideal, in my opinion.

Batman: Liked your post. This serves also as a test with my new browser.

What I really want to see is the Republican party return to its “Roots.” I want them to regain ownership of those very same issues that caused them to split away from these “Wascally Democwats” in the first place. True belief in the Founder’s exceptional principles: “That with a firm reliance on Divine providence..”: That, a Free people is capable of self-governance. The mission needs to be to expose the omnipresent yearning of the quintessential Democrat to establish our nation instead, as a plutocracy. This predisposition was evident, even at the time of the founding. When a weary Ben Franklin emerged from the first constitutional convention in Philadelphia in 1787, he was asked by a lady, what form of government we had. His reply: “A Republic, if you can keep it. ” Indeed, if we can keep it. It was tough, but that very first battle of this radical American idea was won. Two years later, George Washington couldn’t have nailed this situation anymore succinctly then he did in that letter to James McHenry about the goals of the seditious nature of the insidious “Profest Democrat.” . It’s time for
The GOP needs to take back Human rights, That said, it is also time that Sarah to be first, the vice President. Thus, paving the way to finally have happen here, what simultaneously happened in England as Ronald Reagan was president. Margaret Thatcher.

@Nan G:
Thanks for the link.

My ONLY problem with the fair tax is the “pre-bate.” The less confusing the better. No pre-bate or no taxes on unprocessed food (yes, I know that is social engineering), dairy products, meats, and cereals where sugar or corn syrup is not the 1-3 ingredient.

In any case, the less interaction with the government the better.

@Gary Kukis: West won’t accept the V-P, and for good reason- he is needed there, and he needs more seasoning. You can easily see what having a raw rookie in the WH has done- I mean, yea he is a Dem., butthe smartest thing he’s done was to choose Biden as his V-P- I mean, THAT’S JOB SECURITY, and Biden can make a fencepost look smart.
I think a Cain/Paul or Cain/ Santorum ticket would work.
Just have Sarah out there as the stalking horse for now- she can raise incredible sums of money- Bachman also.

CAIN, IS A WOW, I see the SPIRIT of AMERICA COUNTAIN IN HIS SOUL, HIS LOGIC HIS POWER,
he can deliver and show the sweath of his CONVICTIONS,
I see the revival of AMERICA the REAL AMERICA, HE WILL BE SUPPORTED
WITH A BEST CREW OF AMERICA, SARAH PALIN , ALLEN WEST AND THE OTHERS,
WHICH ARE THE BEST, HERMAN CAIN, WONT PLAY SECOND, HE IS THE TOP,
THEY ALL BETTER JOIN IN TO GET HIM THERE, IN A UNITY,NEVER ENCOUNTERD BECAUSE IT’S A LIFE OR DEATH ISSUE FOR AMERICA.
