I’m beyond excited that Trump will probably run and win both the nomination of the Republican Party and then go on to defeat Obama.
I mean just listen to him! Not a politically correct bone in his body. He’s beyond refreshing with his candor and straight-shooting. Compare that with the likes of the political “Hacks” like Huckabee (oh Lord, save me from that buffoon), Romney (socialist-and he looks like a used-car salesman), Newt (give it up, preacher) or the half-governor from the only penal colony the US has.
Go Trump!!!
Agreed Ivan. As far as I can see Trump is the only one that has “the spark” and the recognition to do it. He also has imagination.
That picture is just plain wrong. I used to like pie.
I was waiting to hear from Bohner when Harry Reid started explaining why he opposes the latest CR.
It is that no women, not his wife, his daughters or even his 9 grand daughters can get their blood pressure checked, their cholesterol level checked or even their mammograms IF the CR is passed and signed by Obama!
WHAT????
Turns out Reid’s referring to the de-funding of Planned Parenthood through ”Title Ten.”
But I wonder who told Reid that Planned Parenthood is the only place all women can go for free to get their blood pressure checked, their cholesterol level checked or even their mammograms?
Planned Parenthood doesn’t do ANY of those things!
Women mostly go to Planned Parenthood for abortions.
90% of what they do at Planned Parenthood are abortions.
Most women do not go to Planned Parenthood for anything.
It only gets ~$300 million from the US taxpayer annually.
If all women went there is would need a bit more, don’t you think?
PS, Planned Parenthood donates money to Democrats. [PDF]
The call for ”Moderate Muslims” to speak out against the violence of jihad in Islam is so rarely answered.
Ever wonder why?
Here’s a story about one such moderate Muslim.
The chief of Jamiat-e-Ahlihadith, 55, Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah, a liberal voice who termed stone-pelting protests un-Islamic ……………….
………………
………………
………………
has been killed in Srinagar blast.
Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah was a vocal opponent of violence.
He was targeted by both separatists and political leaders.
Twice before his opponents tried to kill him and failed.
This time militants planted their IED in a bicycle outside his mosque ahead of Friday prayers in Maisuma area adjacent to Lal Chowk, in the heart of Srinagar city.
Moulvi Showkat Ahmad Shah was already dead when his body arrived at the hospital.
To Curt and Others who read FA:
I just wanted to point out a part of the picture that is left out, but which some of our liberal friends are discussing. Namely, the tax cuts for the “rich”. Do you see that little portion of the pie labeled “GOP Proposed Cuts”? It is around $60Billion. $60Billion is also the average amount “spent”(liberal term, not mine) on the tax cuts for the “rich”, that were just extended. Now, see how that little $60Billion or so would fit in the empty portion of the pie plate? Remember, the empty portion is the deficit, estimated, for 2011. Without the extension of those tax cuts, our deficit would go from $1.65Trillion to $1.6Trillion or so. Now you can see why it is so outrageous that the liberals continue to discuss taxation over spending cuts, to reduce the deficit.
Another item of interest. One of Obama’s main pledges during his campaign was that he would cut the deficit in half by the end of his first term. In fiscal 2008, the last full federal budget under Bush, the deficit was $438 Billion, or $455 Billion, depending on where you are looking. Half of that is roughly $225 Billion. With this year’s deficit, and in order to cut the deficit to half of Bush’s last year, Obama needs combined spending cuts and revenue increases totaling $1.375 Trillion or so dollars. With the squawking by the democrats over measely $60Billion cuts this year, who thinks Obama will reach his pledge amount next year?
@johngalt:
Great comment, JohnGalt.
Talk of this sort makes sense only if you assume that all money belongs to the government, which then spreads the wealth around in whatever manner it deems appropriate.
The same assumption explains how pundits can speak of tax cuts “costing” X or Y billion dollars.
From the perspective of the taxpayer, tax cuts do not cost money — they save money.
Those who speak of tax cuts costing money reveal whose side they are on.
There is no such thing as “the nation’s wealth.”
Wealth is not collectively owned, nor should it be.
Look for the Left to claim that Rep Paul Ryan’s plan will transfer wealth to the wealthy.
Here’s one recent illustration I heard:
If Paul pays $100 in tax and Peter pays Zero but collects $25 from Paul’s taxes, it is fatuous to say that, by lowering Paul’s tax to $75 and Peter’s benefit check to $10, the government is ”taking money away from Peter and giving it to Paul.” The government is still doing what it was doing before: taking money from Paul and giving it to Peter……only to a lesser degree.

Actually, @johngalt, we went thru the pittance of tax cuts for the rich being “heinous”, yet the over $460 bil of tax cuts for the “middle class” being “good” argument during the lame duck session and the GOP caving in during Curt’s Dec post. It’s also one of those posts that Ivan says doesn’t exist on FA… taking the GOP to task for their failings.
But you know the lib/progs have short memories and little grey matter to absorb reality. So pointing out the “rich” savings over and over is likely necessary, and oh so good!
Who ”wants” a gov’t shutdown?
Obviously the Democrats do.
This is a PDF of a memo from the Whitehouse.gov.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/sites/default/files/omb/memoranda/2011/m11-13.pdf
Page two has this:
[O]ne federal employee with a high GS-13 ranking at a major federal department was told the shutdown would be immediate, widespread and tough. She was informed by a supervisor that “if they discovered you’re working at home, you could go to jail. It’s against the law.” She agreed to be interviewed by Pajamas Media on the grounds her identity was not revealed.
@plainjane:
A perfect example of why liberals hate the use of “illegal” when referring to thieves of this class. How can anyone sane assume that these actions serve the citizens. Reading this little gem brought my blood pressure high into blowout territory
Are the rich in such a wealthy state so desperate for yard boys that they will pass such a law? Encourage the influx of millions more catholic peasants whose masters won’t let them use birth control! To what conceiveable end?
@MataHarley:
I just related the average yearly “costs”(not accurate though, due to the real amount dependent upon the economy) of the total tax cut extensions. It is around $100Billion dollars a year. When taken off of the deficit, that still leaves $1.5 Trillion dollars the federal government is short. That is why any talk of tax hikes fixing the deficit problem is asinine. We have a spending problem, not a taxation problem. Until the democrats start discussing real and meaningful spending cuts, including to many of their favorite “programs”, there shouldn’t be any discussions about the tax rates.
Exactly our argument with the now banned Billy Bob/B-Rob back in December, johngalt. It ain’t a question of tax increases on any segment of American, but cutting spending to be below anticipated revenue income. And that needs to be based on anticipated economic recovery that isn’t happening.
You could tax every working American 100% of their taxes, and it still wouldn’t take care of the deficit and debt… not to mention 100% taxation would kill any tax revenues for future years.
I must have missed that argument with him then. Was probably more interested in watching college football then, lol.
As for that argument, when one looks at it that way, it makes no sense whatsoever to continue to discuss taxation policy, like Greg, and now Larry, have done.

Way to Go IDF!
I have a great deal of respect for Israel, they hold their own.
@johngalt… BINGO! Of course, that doesn’t stop either of them from attempting to reframe the economic reality of not spending more than you take in, and reducing spending by a functional percentage under to whittle away at the debt.
I’m sure you saw or read the stories of GE not paying taxes for 2010. It’s not true. It paid about $2.7 billion around the world for its 2010 income.
@Gregory_Dittman #18:
That’s pretty disingenuous Greg. That point is that most Americans give less than a rat’s butt what GE paid to other countries around the world. It is an American company with large domestic profits, yet paid nothing in taxes IN AMERICA! The country is serious economic decline, in case you haven’t noticed and the ghetto shuck and jive of slick accountants just makes me want to get medieval in their boardroom. We provide them with huge benefits, including prestige and protection, around the world but they can somehow avoid bearing any support for America, even shipping jobs to some third world crap hole where they get the double benefit of paying less wages AND lower taxes.
