I don’t have the paid service for Rasmussen so can’t check the breakdown from this poll but Don Surber does, and the results are typical:
It was a simple, straightforward question from the Rasmussen Poll: “Whose Judgment You Trust More on Economic Issues?”
The choices were yourself or President Obama.
From mainstream America came the reply: 77% of likely voters said themselves. Only 16% are weenies.
But among the political class — our moral and intellectual superiors — only 5% trust their own judgment over the president’s.
92% said Obama.
92% lub Obama so much they trust HIS judgment over their own.
Incredible.
The unemployment national rate is at 9.6%
Unemployment has now topped 9.5 percent for 14 months in a row, the longest stretch since the Great Depression of the 1930s.
And millions are now on food stamps:
FDR feared this self-reliant people might come to depend permanently upon government for the necessities of their daily lives. Like narcotics, such a dependency would destroy the fiber and spirit of the nation.
What brings his words to mind is news that 41.8 million Americans are on food stamps, and the White House estimates 43 million will soon be getting food stamps every month.
What exactly has Obama done other than ruin this economy, and promoting policies that will only further destroy this economy? But 92% of Obama lovers think he has the answers.
Just crazy.
But at least someone is golfing eh?
See author page
I have said for a long time that the question on Obama should be phrased thusly: What kind of rabbit does he have to pull out of his…hat in order to reverse this precipitous decline in support? In other words – what special quality has he been hiding, what capability has he been holding in abeyance, the release of which will enable him to reverse the decline and regain some political support? And after some pause to really try and imagine something – you find that there is nothing that will accomplish that trick. It will be a long and ugly road to January 20, 2013, but we’ll get there.
Moral and intellectual superiors?? That’s a laugh if I ever heard one. Think old Teddy and quite a few more besides.
I bet a goodly proportion of that 77% would have seen to the prosecution of New York for it’s disenfranchisement of 320,000 military men and women based from there but overseas.
According to the 2009 MOVE Act the state had to send all 320,000 absentee ballots out by 45 days before the election on Nov. 2nd.
But they have not sent even one…..yet.
Of course the election can be shifted by this dereliction in duty.
But what has Obama done?
Given them an extended deadline….which they have also missed.
Something tells me Obama will not punish any state where the Dems win AND the MOVE Act was ignored.
On Looking ‘Bad’
http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/249297/looking-bad-victor-davis-hanson
I know who inspires my trust and quite frankly he is not one of them.
Only 77%? Have the rest of the been out of the country for the last year and a half?
@ Old Trooper 2,
Good find.
Narcissism has long been known to be an irreversible condition. The world now has a front row seat to that disorder, because it is a mental disorder. It’s unfortunate that that disorder is today looking down from the most powerful podium in the world.
Doesn’t this mean American judgement and not Kenyan?
Is there still anybody who doesn’t know what Obama is doing is on purpose? Payback.
@ Nan G, http://www.fvap.gov/?ref=home-spot1-img
This does not amount to a hill of beans if the States don’t send the absentee ballots though.
If the VAOs request the goods, the Law States that they must be sent.

I have never in my life thought that I would make a better president than the person holding office. If I were president, I would be a lousy president, but I’d be better than this clown.
The worst peace time commanders were those who always needed to change things. The new guy would come into an organization and before fully understanding all of the reasons for the aspects of organizational culture, they changed things! Tried and true processes were trashed. Moral and unit competency suffered. The only saving grace was most commands were for only 2 years. The NCOs usually could stall long enough to see the new guy head off to a new assignment.
@John: #9 I would qualify to be your vice-president.
When Obama said, “We gotta have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded,” (referring to the military) during his campaign to be the democratic nominee for president, I knew then what his agenda was, and still is. Anyone who hasn’t figured out what HIS agenda is must be “Stuck on stupid” or a part of the “destroy America” politicians and civilians.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt2yGzHfy7s
Anyone who thinks that Obama’s judgment is better than theirs just proved themselves correct.
@DAve: #13 You will have to explain that for the liberals who read it or they will think it is a compliment. Wait a minute………….. I guess that would be a waste of time, so forget it.
I put your comment in my “Funny Stuff” list and put your name with it. It was great. I’m still laughing at it.
The so called “political class” in this country are two bricks short of a load and/or the domestic enemies described in the oath I swore.
#15 I figured out a long time ago which one it is. We need non-politicians in office.
St. Joseph was the only county in Indiana that missed the MOVE Act deadline this year, according to the MVP Project, but violations were also found in
California,
Connecticut,
Nevada and
New Mexico,
along with possible violations in
Alabama and
Arkansas.
Eric Eversole, executive director of the MVP Project, wrote a letter to the U.S. Department of Justice on Monday asking it to enforce the MOVE Act.
Brad King, co-director of the Indiana Election Division, told Fox News he was concerned and disappointed to hear St. Joseph County missed the deadline by more than a week.

Maybe it would just be easier to list places that DID get military serving overseas their ballots on time.
I answer this by posing a question:
Conservatives (especially those from Southern auto producing states) opposed the GM and Chrysler bailouts. OK. So please explain how America would have been BETTER OFF of the bailouts had not occurred and GM and Chrylser went into a normal bankruptcy. We would have had higher unemployment than we do now. Of course it would have been higher because GM and Chrysler would have not paid suppliers, closed more dealerships and plants, etc. Unemployment has three distinct negative elements: people have less money to spend, so the ; people demand MORE government benefits from unemployment and Medicaid, etc.; and people cannot pay their real estate taxes so municipalities get lower tax revenues. In addition, a shuttered GM pays no income taxes, provides no employee benefits, etc. These natural outcomes would, obviously, be bad for America. So explain why it would have been GOOD for America if we had not bailed out GM and Chrysler as you cons demanded.
On the stimulus — It had tax cuts of about a third, infrastructure related spending of about a third, and job aid to states of about a third. The total bill was about $700 billion and about $500 billion has been spent so far. So please explain how we would have been better off without the additional $500 billion in spending injected into the recessionary economy. How would we be better off with more layoffs at the state levels? How would we have been better off without the middle class tax cuts that were included in the stimulus? How would we be better off without the COBRA subsidy, which cut laid off employees’s COBRA costs to 35% of the full bill, with the remaining 65% paid for from a tax credit to their former employers?
This is but two examples of Obama policies that conservatives oppose, but for which they provide no RATIONAL opposition, as opposed to a reflexive rejection of the two policies as “bad” or “wrong” or “socialism.” I await a rational explanation as to why we would have been better off without them . . . but I won’t hold my breath.
And another thing — the Obama deficit reduction commission report will come out in December. If you actually oppose deficit spending and believe that we should only run deficits in the smallest amounts possible, and under only the most desperate of circumstances, then this would be the third big initiative that you cons should support.
So a question, cons, are you in favor of balancing the budget or not?
From all the shucking and jiving I see from GOPer politicians when asked what spending they would cut to pay for re-initiating the Bush tax cuts, I am convinced that conservatives are only against deficits when they are not in control of the deficit spending. Obama will propose to do what Bush never did — balance the f-ing budget. And I predict cons will oppose him on it, thus ensuring his second term.
Actually, had GM and Chrylser gone into a normal bankruptcy they would have been freed from their union contracts.
Then they could have re-emerged, leaner and meaner and non-union, like those non-union auto plants in the South.
All across the country we are seeing unions play hardball with their employers, whether the employer is an auto industry or a city, county, state or federal entity.
Up until recently these games of chicken ended with taxpayers relenting and handing more over to keep police, fire, librarians, teachers and others on the job.
But not anymore.
That gravy train is over.
Even my uber-liberal city laid off both fire and police personnel after letting them decide between that or pay cuts and an end to unnecessary overtime.*
Other places are doing the same.
Obama made sure his union buddies in the UAW got taken care of even illegally before other investors did.
But I think that might have been the union’s last hurrah.
@B-Rob: #18 I don’t belong to a political party, so I don’t have any loyalty to defend any.
What you are suggesting is that all big businesses should be protected from failure. If that is the case, then ALL businesses should be protected.
The first step is to file for bankruptcy protection, then the company can try to restructure itself. If it fails, then others will pick up the business. The jobs lost would be transferred to other manufacturers like they always are. Troubled companies usually ask the employees to take a wage cut or not pay as much of their medial insurance, but the unions wouldn’t go for that.
Do you like your tax money going to keep the union wages and medical care as high as they are? That is the main reason GM and Chrysler were in financial trouble, besides the people not buying their cars.
The banks got their billions to help people keep their houses. So far I have only heard of one person who kept their house because of the bank bailout. Have you heard of any? Most of it went for corporate bonuses and to banks oversees. It was another payback for the millions the banks donated to Obama and others. Chrysler closed a lot of dealerships. It turns out the ones they closed were the ones who didn’t donate to Obama:
http://www.upgrade.redstate.com/josh_painter/2009/06/05/dealergate-7-why-were-top-performing-dealers-closed/
http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=99325
One of the best ways to stay in business is to make products the people will buy. Why are Americans buying more foreign made cars than American made? Quality. Ford is the first American car company that has a car in the top 10 for many years.
Obama also forced the General Motors head to resign before he would approve a loan:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2009/03/29/AR2009032900708.html
This kind of stuff in supposed to be done by congress. It is illegal for the Federal government to own or partly own a private business. Obama is acting like the king that he wants to be. He needs congressional approval to do the stuff he is doing.
The stimulus money went mostly to areas that donated to Obama:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2009-07-08-redblue_N.htm
State congressional districts that don’t exist got stimulus money:
http://johnboehner.house.gov/Blog/?postid=155609
Put in whatever state you want instead of Ohio and check it out (stimulus money going to ohio congressional districts that don’t exist). There are many. Nobody can tell where the money went or who got it.
Obama didn’t save the companies: He saved the unions who have donated millions of dollars to high ranking democrats such as himself. If they loose their jobs, there will be less money to donate to Obama.
Wait until your taxes go up after the Bush tax cuts expire and let us know if you still go along with the stimulus and bailouts. Wait until ObamaCare kicks in and you find out you will have to pay more for your care. Obama has already taken a breast cancer pain killer off of the list of medicines that will be paid for. One person in the entire USA decides that a drug won’t be paid for. THINK ABOUT THAT!
You won’t be able to keep your company insurance because your company couldn’t afford the insurance AND the ObamaCare tax they will still have to pay. The unions get to keep theirs, why can’t others keep theirs.
Many insurance companies have already raised their rates in anticipation of the extra expenses they will have to cover that ObamaCare won’t cover any more. Many doctors are refusing to take on more Medicaid patients because of the reduced amount that ObamaCare will pay. Good luck finding a doctor who will accept you. I might be in that situation in a few months, and it scares me.
These are just Obama and other liberals using whatever crisis there is to their best advantage and creating some of their own to get more money and more power. Remember Rahm Emanuel’s “You never want a serious crisis to go to waste?”
Did you know that Obama is going after your 401(k) account now?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2509978/posts
It sounds like you would be willing to give up your 401(k) money to help fund the Social Security shortage, wouldn’t you?
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-bloggers/2509978/posts
Be sure to read the last paragraph where it ends with Geithner saying, “Most people are ill-qualified to make these choices. Those who choose unwisely will fare worse than others. If we put all of the contributions into one fund managed by the government we can guarantee uniformity of outcome and eliminate the risks inherent in the current program.”
He and the other politicians know how to manage your money better than you do. After all, look how well they run the United States Postal Service, Social Security, Medicaid, Foreign aid, etc. We should just turn our paychecks over to them and let them take care of us the rest of our lives. Life would be sweet then.
I see that Mr. ParaLegal2 has, once again, graced us with his presence.
He’s still sniveling about the supposed GM and Chrysler extinction that was magically avoided.
The only problem is, there would have been no extinction. GM and Chrysler, like any other company, would have gone through bankruptcy and would have emerged stronger on the other side, restructuring in the process.
Of course, Billy Bob has been told all of this before but, because he is a remarkably slow learner, he insists on setting up the same false premises for his arguments.
Just to separate facts from opinion, here are the deficits/surpluses for the last 21 years. I did not include figures for everything adjusted to today’s dollars:
1989 152.5 Billion Dollar Deficit
1990 221.2 Billion Dollar Deficit
1991 269.3 Billion Dollar Deficit
1992 290.4 Billion Dollar Deficit
1993 255.1 Billion Dollar Deficit
1994 203.2 Billion Dollar Deficit
1995 164 Billion Dollar Deficit
1996 107.5 Billion Dollar Deficit
1997 22 Billion Dollar Deficit
1998 69.2 Billion Dollar Surplus
1999 125.6 Billion Dollar Surplus
2000 236.4 Billion Dollar Surplus
2001 127.3 Billion Dollar Surplus
2002 157.8 Billion Dollar Deficit
2003 374 Billion Dollar Deficit
2004 413 Billion Dollar Deficit
2005 319 Billion Dollar Deficit
2006 248 Billion Dollar Deficit
2007 162 Billion Dollar Deficit
2008 455 Billion Dollar Deficit
2009 1400 Billion Dollar Deficit
2010 1350 Billion Dollar Deficit
If one were to go back to 1980 (30 years) here is what you would find:
Number of years Republicans controlled Congress: 10; number of surpluses/balanced budgets: 4.
Number of years Democrats controlled Congress: 20; number of surpluses/balanced budgets: 0.
Total deficits produced by Republicans in 10 years controlling Congress: 1.244 trillion dollars.
Total deficits produced by Democrats in the last 3 years: 3.205 trillion dollars; total the last 10 years controlling Congress: 4.76 trillion.
No doubt there is room for improvement from both parties but it’s quite obvious which needs the most work by far.
Obama and Co. keep touting the ”European way” of going green, socializing health care and so on.
Just this week Obama said
Not true!
Obama is seeking to fundamentally transform America, using failed, expensive policies of Europe’s social democracies as his models. Toward his political end, he is rebranding central planning as the ‘green economy,’ and he and his doppelgangers make claims that simply do not survive scrutiny. They’re not only unsupportable, but what he and his enablers claim has time and again proven to be the opposite of reality.
Saves Money!
Nan G Germany does have the best beer! I spent a lot of time discussing environment and other issues with German people while I was there. One of the images they have is that the American Indian only killed what he ate. I described the massive kills that occured on the buffalo jumps. They refuse to believe me even with photos and archaeological documentation.
What happened to Greg and Rich? Did they move over to the Huffington Post where they can wallow in liberalism?
@another vet: #23 I like to write the whole number out to make it easier to understand just how much the number is. In doing so I found out that you missed a zero in the 2010 amount. Since Obama and Geithner are using up the zeroes very quickly I can understand why you ran out. I saw it coming and saved a few and am LOANING you some. Your 2010 amount would only be:
$1,350,000,000,000
2008——-$455,000,000,000
2009—-$1,400,000,000,000
2010–$13,615,674,949,267.91 (As of 10-07-2010 on the Fed’s National Debt Clock) http://www.treasurydirect.gov/NP/BPDLogin?application=np
Looks pretty scary this way doesn’t it?
@Randy: #26 Now that you asked, I am guessing they will come.
Maybe they are actually going to some of the links they were given in response to what they said. Some of the links have a lot of information to read and absorb, and have links to other stories.
Remember when you found out that something you did or said turned out to be pretty stupid and you didn’t want to be around the people involved? Maybe they have seen the light and think the way they USED to think is stupid now. Don’t burst my bubble! Let it float around until it pops itself.

A Lesson in Liberal Finance
D.L. Hammack
Last week I had the opportunity to speak with a small businessman who devised a simple lesson in the liberal thought process as it relates to redistribution of wealth.
This entrepreneur has a very small company and hires seasonal help as his work load increases. During the summer, he hired an energetic 21-year old. This lad was a good worker and always showed up on time. One morning the worker had to meet his employer at the job site, so he drove his own car. There, on the back bumper was an Obama/Biden bumper sticker from the 2008 election.
Later that afternoon, the conversation turned to politics and the boss asked his temporary employee why he supported Obama.
“I just think that there are too many people with too much money” he said. He went on to detail how the Obama mantra of redistribution was good for poor people. The boss then asked him “Who gets to decide when you’ve made enough money and where that money should go?” The employee responded with a shrug and said “the government.” After two hours of back and forth, the boss gave up trying to educate the employee and opted for another form of teaching.
The Friday of that same week, the boss handed his employee a paycheck. Anxious to see and spend his first paycheck, the employee opened the envelope. His smile quickly turned to a saddened frown. He quietly walked over to the boss. “Sir, I thought that you said I would be making $10 an hour, right?”
“Yup” came the reply. “You’re getting $10 per hour.”
“But I worked 30 hours this week and my paycheck isn’t anywhere near $300”
“Yup, you did work 30 hours. Your gross would’ve been $300, but I figured that you live at home with your parents, so you don’t need rent money. Your mom has a garden, so you don’t need food money. When you’re working, we drive in the work van, so you don’t need any gas money. You got me to thinking this week about the Obama plan to redistribute wealth. I thought I would put it to work here in my little business. I took your advice and took some of those earnings that you don’t need. I’m going to find a family whose dad has decided that he doesn’t want to work and he needs money for cigarettes. Basically, I’ll find someone who needs it more than you do.”
The employee stood there shell-shocked for a full minute. The boss gently grabbed the paycheck from the employee and tore it up. “Here’s your real check” he said as he extended his hand with another envelope. “You might want to rethink this whole idea of taking money from working people and giving it to others. Whether it’s taken out in taxes or taken directly from you, the bottom line is that it is taken from you. Whether it’s taken by the government or taken by force at the end of a gun barrel…should they not both be considered theft?”
Why is it that they don’t teach this in school?

Thanks for the catch. I probably accidently took it out when I was taking out the column that had the deficits in today’s dollars. Anyone is free to cut and paste the figures for future disputes as I’m sure the lefties will raise the issue again as to who is most to blame for the deficits and will then state opinion as fact. Just as a follow up, when computing the deficits under the Republicans, I subtracted the surpluses from the deficits. Even not doing so, the dems will have still run up far more in a comparable amount of time.
Hey, what is a decimal place or three when you are the government and using other people’s money!
BREAKING: DSCC Sending Reinforcements to Delaware for Coons
Posted by Erick Erickson (Profile)
Monday, October 11th at 9:45PM EDT
Is the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee a bit concerned about the potential impact of the Tea Party in Delaware or have the Democrats completely written off Carol Shea-Porter running for New Hampshire’s 1st Congressional District?
I ask because the Democrats have sent the lady who was on the ground running operations for Carol Shea-Porter’s congressional bid to Delaware to be the Field Director for Chris Coons canvassing operation.
That’s a mighty odd expenditure to be making in shifting resources around if the Democrats are so sure of Chris Coons’ victory.
It also seems certain the Democrats are now writing off NH-1.
http://www.redstate.com/erick/2010/10/11/breaking-dscc-sending-reinforcements-to-delaware-for-coons/
We should have sent Skookums if there was a coon hunt.
B-Rob: hi,THE AMERICANS ARE now living on the distinctive negative element of
unemployment and without BAIL out even after the government pinpoint the UNIONS to
GIVE them bail out of some of the money they took from the americans pocket,so
remember? the government are elected to SERVE the people, not their favorite causes too which are many; COMPARE to what they should be spending on, what concern the people of AMERICA,
NOT some people within the WORLD who hate AMERICA,and demand a share for
staying appease.
furthermore, recessionnery economy has not been fix with those trillions of spendings.
SO don’t say that the CONSERVATIVES ARE talking , YES SR they are and all AMERICANS are talking
to find the solution soon.
@ Randy, growing up in the wilds of Montana, my Grand Dad (Lakota Sioux )always told me that
the White Man gave Us indoor plumbing because he realized that they always crapped too close to their tipi.
Off to Qatar for round 6 of FUGAWI part two. A month of AD that I did not want.
Back on topic,
*If Congress cannot balance the Nation’s Checkbook, what use are they?
* If the Borders are not secure, are We Sovereign or just the dust bin offering
free ice cream until the Chinese cash in their chips and call our bluff?
* OPM (Other Peoples Money) will run out before 2012. What then?
So, there are quite a few Americans who admit to not having good judgment.
Count Andrea Fleytas as one of them.
“Who is Andrea Fleytas?” you might ask yourself.
Andrea Fleytas had one responsibility on the deepwater drilling rig Deepwater Horizon the day it exploded killing 11 men.
Her only job was to PUSH A BUTTON if more than ONE emergency light went lit on her indicator panel.
So why didn’t she hit the button when over a dozen lights all lit at the same time on her panel?
So eleven men died.
Maybe needlessly.
Definitely one of those 23% ‘ers.
OLD TROOPER 2: hi, I just read on the banner that NEW YORK HAVE NOT SENT THE BALLOTS FOR MILITARYS TO VOTE, and they had an extension on top of that;
IT seems like they will supress that very important action, it said [the banner blog] that
they have 50000 military from their states, and it could affect the NOVEMBER outcome.
TO my mind it’s a fraud done on purpuse to get their guy in.the [blog moonbat…,] said when you see the MILITARYS risking their life and being denied their right to vote,
I say, this is UNAMERICAN, and with the amount of MUSLIMS in that STATE.
Randy: hi, on 26, I think that they cant take it anymore, or THEY have to rest and learn more ways to disrupt FA; what they try don’t seem to work for them so B-Rob is giving them a break. bye
@another vet: Even not doing so, the dems will have still run up far more in a comparable amount of time.
It’s much worse than most people realize. King Obama has run up more national debt than the combined debts from George Washington to George W. Bush!! Remember how the propaganda media complained about George Bush’s debt? Where are they now?
I think that some of these propaganda idiots have finally figured out that THEY AND THEIR ANCESTORS are going to be paying off the debt and don’t like how much will be coming out of their paychecks.
They were so focused on spreading the king’s agenda they didn’t stop to think about how his agenda would effect THEM. But then, liberals are taught not to think for themselves.
It seems that some of the propaganda media are starting to report the TRUTH about Obama. That must be hard for them to do. Maybe they figured out that conservatives aren’t going to buy their papers or listen to their broadcasts when there are other sources for the TRUTH. Maybe they asked their accounting department to figure up how much ObamaCare and other Obama programs will cost them. Maybe when Obama decided not to pay for a breast cancer pain medication any more they started thinking that, later on in life, some of their medication won’t be paid for any more.
Maybe they want to climb out of the muck they have been wallowing in for years. Anyone who has been in stuff like that knows it is hard to get out of. If you sink in it deep enough you can’t get out without help. That puts a picture in my brain of some of the muck mired media trying to get out but can’t, and Fox News is helping pull them out.
@Randy: #31 As I have said before, “As long as we have trees we will never run out of money.”
@ilovebeeswarzone: #36 If it is a blue state, odds are that they didn’t send out the military ballots at all. Many states haven’t. They know that most of the military votes republican and they also know that with King Obama in charge they won’t be prosecuted. This proves they will do ANYTHING to get their trash elected.
Smorgasbord #38,
The ones who complained about the debt under Bush probably disappeared to the same place the war protesters under Bush did. My investor, who predicted the housing failure back in the late ’90’s when all this insanity started with the bad loans and inflated housing prices, told me to start investing in gold and silver because of what’s coming down the pipe with our huge debt that no one seems to want to address. Along with food, water, guns, and ammo they’re probably a wise choice. It’s funny how his party doesn’t seem to be campaigning on their two legislative “acheivements”- healthcare and the stimulus package.
