Democrat Armageddon [Reader Post]

Democrats were positively joyous when they passed health care. It was as much a victory over America as anything else. Democrats did not listen to America. They didn’t care what America wanted. Instead of worrying about the needs of the country they used their supermajority to ram down our throats their personal agenda.

Now the hubris bill comes due. And you know what they say about payback.

Democrats are in absolute full blown panic as the election looms near and the prospects are dim:

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – Frustrated, discouraged and just plain mad, a lot of people who have lost jobs – or know someone who has – now want to see the names of Democrats on pink slips. And that’s jeopardizing the party’s chances in Ohio and all across the country in November’s elections.

The stimulus is a failure. All Democrats know is how to do is spend more and that leaves them with few options:

With another tepid jobs report in the books Friday, Democrats desperate for quick policy action to boost the economy face an excruciating dilemma, experts say.

Note the key words: “quick policy action.” Two months away from the election and all of sudden Democrats need action. If Democrats wanted a better way to tell you that they really couldn’t give a damn about America it could not be found. Their utter disingenuousness is palpable:

The few things that might pass Congress — such as a payroll tax holiday or extended research-and-development tax credits — won’t work, or at least not before November’s midterm elections, when Democrats face potentially devastating losses.

Thus for them it’s not about helping the economy, it’s about doing something to help Democrats before the election.

Politico opines:

And the few things that might work — such as an aggressive new infrastructure spending bill — can’t pass, uniformly viewed as politically impossible at a time of trillion-dollar-plus deficits.

And there’s the rub- in the original stimulus only $62 billion was targeted for infrastructure spending. The bulk of the money went to subsidize welfare and help states promote unemployment. They had their chance to do “the few things that might work” and they screwed us instead.

As the sand runs out of the hourglass, Barack Obama makes a new pledge:

“All economy all the time,” is how one White House official described the president’s week ahead.

If it doesn’t interfere with golf, presumably. And we know about the value of Obama pledges.

All Barack Obama Statements Come With an Expiration Date. All Of Them.

Obama’s plan is bipolar in nature, hopefully complete with meds. On the one hand, Obama will try to sell us on how wonderful the economy is doing:

Obama will travel to two battleground states next week to tout the economy,

And yet convince us that he’s working hard to fix something that’s working well:

and also plans on introducing a package of new ideas to bolster a weak recovery that is hampering his party’s hopes for retaining the House and Senate.

Does Obama really care? I don’t believe it for a second and here’s why:

President Obama is turning his focus squarely toward the economy as the traditional campaign season begins.

“Turning his focus squarely toward the economy as the campaign season begins.”

Only because the election draws near and he’s in trouble. It’d be nice if Obama gave the US economy the attention he gives to suing Joe Arpaio and the state of Arizona because Arpaio is protecting this country better than Obama and Arizona is doing what Obama won’t.

Democrats are running for their political lives and the level of their desperation is on full display.

Some House Dems Run TV Ads Heralding Opposition to President Obama, Democratic Leaders and Their Policies

Some Democrats who weren’t in Congress at the time are claiming to have voted against the TARP bailout.

Well, it’s not surprising to learn that Democrats haven’t abandoned lying as a platform.

Some Democrats are highlighting their opposition to health care:

A handful of House Democrats are making health care reform an election-year issue — by running against it.

At least five of the 34 House Democrats who voted against their party’s health care reform bill are highlighting their “no” votes in ads back home. By contrast, party officials in Washington can’t identify a single House member who’s running an ad boasting of a “yes” vote — despite the fact that 219 House Democrats voted in favor of final passage in March.

And the #1 sign of Democrat desperation?

Running on fiscal austerity:

Faced with a potential wipeout in November’s midterm elections, candidates such as Bennet are embracing budget cuts with the enthusiasm of Reagan Republicans.

As if that was even possible for a Democrat.

And to compound the schadenfreudethey can’t blame Bush.

While the trifecta of stimulus/bailouts/ObamaCare is what is mostly touted as the explanation for the waning Democratic political fortunes, ObamaCare is the mother-lode of straws that broke the camel’s back and crushed it. Democrats know this, but can’t acknowledge it. Why? Because they can’t blame ObamaCare on George W. Bush. And that leaves them with nothing, and nowhere to hide.

The new Democrat slogan ought to come from Walt Kelly:

Correct on all counts. I suspect the pretender-n-theif, you know the “won” they have been waiting for, the one and only marxist wannabe tyrant known to all demonrat’s as obama, yo mamma, has his ass in a political bundle about to get handed back to his sweet lyin, decietful, frabricating, smugness, look its all about me, ass self.

Yeah payback is gonna be sweet, but a real bitch for him and the wannabe tryants known as the demonrat party members. You know when a hard leaning demonrat party member starts to scheme to lower taxes and such, he knows his days in the house are numbered and for good reason. The We the People are about as pissed off at their lies, bribery, scandleous self absorbed bullshit that a good cleansing is in the waiting. Too bad for the losers, can’t say we did not try and warm them, because we did, i.e., the Taxes Enough Already parties throughout this Country for the past year. Did they listen to the “feelings” of their constituents, not a no but, a HELL no we are going to do as we please no. It must “suck to be you” Have fun in joining your fellow travelers in the no-more-employment-for-you lines. You deserve it and We the People are going to gladely hand it to you. Semper Fi.

As pleasurable as it is to see the Rats in full panic mode, partly because of ObamaCare, a Republican majority in the House will be a temporary victory unless they find the where with all to repeal it. Or at least make a full court press to attempt it, or find ways to block its implementation.

@ Greg, no mystery here. Don’t fund it. Congress controls the checkbook.

Refuse to Fund Any or All of it if You can regain the seats in the House.
Executive Order cannot fund the Program.

The democrats are becoming desperate, be wary of the “October Surprise.”

Old Trooper is right! If you can’t repeal ObamaCare, starve it to death!

Obama’s solutions to the problem he says does not exists is throwing more money on it.

Why now? Why not six months or a year ago. Could it be that Obama’s down-and-out poll numbers are having an effect?

Why offer relief to those who are facing foreclosure now? Didn’t he already have a plan? Did it fail? Yes it did. Why? Because banks and Obama don’t care. As a matter of fact, banks consider foreclosures a harvest time. But why is Obama offering foreclosure relief now when millions have already lost their homes — and probably will NOT vote for Obama or democrats of any color.

Here’s what’s happening. Obama lacks what it takes to be an effective leader let alone a president or even “commander-in-chief”. So what do people get. Nothing. Despite having many, many advisers, Obama still has to call the shots. And, having NO experience at what he’s doing, Obama can NOT nor is he capable of making complex, interrelated decisions.

Obama has utterly failed. It’s time for him to be removed.

The best part of a November Victory will be Nancy Pelosi surrendering her croquet mallet
and having to fly coach on commercial aircraft as she will no longer be the Squeaker of
the House.

A repeal of “O” Care will come as soon as the Democrats realize that they cannot fund it and
the Nation cannot afford it.

Average, don’t hold back now. 😆 Love your way with words.

They are proposing…more spending. Even better, they are again wanting to use the increased spending to pay off their union buddies.
When they finally propose a tax cut, it’s a joke. Tax cuts are like a cross to a vampire when it comes to dems.
They even want to remove a tax credit for the oil and energy industry. Do those f**king morons not understand basic economics? By doing that they will stick EVERYONE with higher costs.
I know some are just detatched from reality, but others are following the Cloward-Pivens strategy.

Old Trooper 2

Sure, we can refuse to fund it. What I question is the will of a Republican majority in the House to do it. This is going to have to be a very different bunch from past congresses.

And I hear some of them have been dropping hints they won’t push very hard.

Fortunately the Senate can take a leap on this, it has nothing to say about funding.

Anyway, when it comes to Republicans playing principled hard ball, I’ll believe in it *after* it happens. They’re like a bunch of alcoholics. Remorse and promises last until the next drink. Or in their case, until several months after the election.

@Old Trooper 2:

There are two problems with the don’t fund it solution. One is that it is temporary at best. In 15 to 20 years, there will be another GOP base temper tantrum which will lead to these idiots having full control again. The mechanism will still be in place, and this time forgotten about. Secondly, as an independent business owner, I can tell you that even unfunded, this sinkhole of a law is doing plenty of damage to my bottom line, and more importantly, my desire to hire anybody. This monstrosity needs to be repealed, period.

Greg,

I guess your statement that Republicans cannot play principled hardball does not jive with the current stupid Democrat mantra that they are the party of NO. So what you mean to say is after taking a stand against Obamacare and the failed Stimulus legislation, they won’t play hardball? Hasn’t Mr. Obama called them the party full of ‘obstructionalists’? They stood up to a popular President during both of those fiascos pretty damn well. ( and I don’t think the R candidates that will be swept into office in 2011 could be called moderates. )

Personally, I love them as the party of NO. I think they should RUN on the party of NO.

And BTW, I can tell you that the R candidate in Northern California has told me face to face that his plan is to support any and all efforts to repeal or not fund Obamacare.

Poor Pogo the Possum, my namesake for those of you with my email address: he was dropped from the New York Times for calling Castro a Communist before Fidel thought it was safe to admit he was a Communist. Maybe they did him a favor; none the less, he was my first hero.

When will people learn?? The stimulus was a roaring SUCCESS!!! For it was never designed as anything but a THANK YOU slush fund for labor unions and every other leftist, democrat supporting institution. Its purpose was to contribute to unemployment, to economic destruction and to create nationwide despair and, with luck, PANIC!!

OldPuppy

Its even more criminal than that. It is a money laundering scheme wrought big time. Unions support democratic candidates with millions of dollars. Union pension funds are in trouble. Congress under control of the democrats votes to fund stimulus programs that help shore up the union pensions. That frees up money for the unions to continue to support democratic politicians.

It is TAXPAYER MONEY being used to fund democratic political campaigns. Chicago corruption and patronage politics on a national scale. It is corrupt and it is criminal.

Anyone who voted for Obama Care or the stimulus needs to be ushered to the unemployment line come Nov 2. We have early voting in Texas. Will be casting my anti-democrat vote on the first day.
