Even Congress Is Confused About ObamaCare

Loading

These nimrods signed this POS before they even knew what was in it…..incredible:

The law apparently bars members of Congress from the federal employees health program, on the assumption that lawmakers should join many of their constituents in getting coverage through new state-based markets known as insurance exchanges.

But the research service found that this provision was written in an imprecise, confusing way, so it is not clear when it takes effect.

The new exchanges do not have to be in operation until 2014. But because of a possible “drafting error,” the report says, Congress did not specify an effective date for the section excluding lawmakers from the existing program.

Under well-established canons of statutory interpretation, the report said, “a law takes effect on the date of its enactment” unless Congress clearly specifies otherwise. And Congress did not specify any other effective date for this part of the health care law. The law was enacted when President Obama signed it three weeks ago.

This was all discovered because the members of Congress went to the Congressional Research Service with questions. CRS is a arm of the Library of Congress that does research for members and staff…..lucky them.

Now if only every other American had a research service they could go to and get their questions answered. Of course, we won’t like the answers. The damage this bill will do to our country will be huge….and more Americans are figuring it out.

I would say they have reading comprehension problems, but that would imply the a holes read the bill or better yet they are capable of reading..

OT, very important:

This needs to be spread far and wide and fast.

And hope if it goes viral, that the act of beating conservatives will not also go viral.

The more subtle point, we as a nation were promised that we would be able to keep the plans we were happy with. That isn’t even true for the congress critters.

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The irony of this! It is too priceless. Congress screws themselves.

Pelosi promised them grand things if they would only sign first and then they can read it. The devil is always in the details.

Who knows? Maybe the GOP won’t have to do a thing to repeal this. I am kind of wondering how long it will take the DEMS to realize they majorly screwed themselves and for them to go back and repeal this bill on the grounds that they need to fix it up.

LOL. This is too hilarious!

@Tammy:

“LOL. This is too hilarious!”

Indeed! Priceless!

They had better start checking the finer fine print to see if Obama now owns their souls, as well. Buaaaahhhhhaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaa!

Oh, wait, their Democrats. They “sold their souls” long ago, …..so this is just a second mortgage? Talk about grossly overvalued.

Curt,
It was the same with the stimulus bill. The politicians signed it before they read it. What surprised me is that no politicians wrote the stimulus bill. It was written by a company that I don’t remember their name. The author of the article mentioned that the company could have written stuff in the bill for themselves.

Bills should have to go through a non-politician committee to reduce it down to its simplest form and use easy to read English, not the long winded and complicated stuff they do now to make it purposely hard to understand the bills. There should also be a MANDATORY waiting time of at least two weeks for politicians to read the bill plus extra time added for how long the bill is. The longer the bill, the long the time to study it.

@Flyovercountry: Can you name one promise King Obama kept? Did you expect ANY of his ObamaCare promises to be true?
