Will it be by American soldiers, Delta Force, CIA Special Activities Division, Afghan warlords, allies,
OR
Will the FBI need to go along on the mission?
Will those sent after Bin Laden be sent as assassins?
Will those sent after Bin Laden go with the intent to capture?
Will they have to read him Miranda rights in the cave?
If Osama Bin Laden is captured today, and he is not read his Miranda rights immediately by Delta Force commandos (for example), can he still be tried? Will he get a criminal trial, a military tribunal (which President Obama just halted), will he have the right to a speedy trial, or does he have to wait the 4 months for President Obama’s cessation of military tribunals to end? If he is not read his Miranda rights, can any court still put him on trial, or does he automatically go free if he’s not read those rights by American commandos?

Can he be interrogated by being put in an air conditioned cell in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba? Where would he go within a year since that facility is to be closed? Should he go to Joliet or some supermax prison in Colorado, California, or perhaps New York? Can he be forced to listen to loud rap music? Can he be fed

If he is captured today he’ll be tried, convicted and executed for his crimes. Heck, he has a greatest hit video collection admitting everything he’s ever done.
What I think will actually happen: we’ll continue to pay for the missteps in the early part of the bush administration and will never find bin laden alive, nor will we find his remains if he is dead.
He will join Sheikh Obama’s cabinet.
I could only hope for a battlefield execution (after a summary trial) by a ballsy military commander on the scene. The uproar would be incredible, but I’m sure he’d be in line for presidential candidate in a few years if he would escape prosecution.
I think he should be treated like the terrorist (enemy non-combatant) that he is. Geneva protocols do not apply to him (or his followers in Gitmo), consequently he should be brought here and summarily executed. Period. He will end up a martyr to some no matter what his fate and I see no sense in keeping him alive.
On the other hand I expect if he’s captured during an Obama administration he will eventually end up on Oprah touting his biography, of course the Oprah will have to wear a burkha!
i think osama would look great in his orange jump suit as he walks off into the sunset. Hand in hand with obama, skipping, laughing, only to eventually make-out and play seventy-two minutes in heaven in a cozy little cave that osama set up just for them.

I OBL were captured today, the first thing that would happen is a chorus of Bush/Cheney bashing, with a little conspiratorial claptrap thrown in for good measure. (Regardless of the fact that the time for an “October surprise” would have been…October!)
Barack would probably contribute a pair of Michelle’s fur-lined handcuffs, so that OBL’s wrists wouldn’t chafe in captivity! Heh.
He should be taken by whatever commando unit that captures him to the top of the tallest nearby cliff. He should be forced to confess on video tape to organizing and funding the WTC and Pentagon hits. He should be summarily convicted and given the death sentence. They should surround him with flame throwers and run him in circles before forcing him to jump from the top of the cliff. The cliff should be at least 100 stories tall.

If Bin Laden were captured today all the deaths and destruction that he has committed will be blamed on Bush and Party. That’s what the liberals and the ACLU are currently doing with every ex-Gitmo terrorists who goes out and kills again. The same old story. No one is repsonsible for their own actions anymore. But if he was captured he would not even make trial for years. The ACLU would have a field day. He would have just about every movie star there is out on the streets thumping for him. The trial if it ever happened would be a circus. No one has actually see him kill anyone would be the first hurdle to clear. High profile lawyers would out talk and out act the government lawyers. And some where along the line it would emerge that he had been “denied his rights, and or abused ” while in custody. Pictures would show up on the net. that showed him be degraded while in hand cuffs, etc… The possibilities are endless. I have always hoped and still do that the GI and or agent that happpens upon Bin Laden will do us all and the world a favor, and just shoot him dead. Otherwise we will have one long nightmare to endure. And don’t forget about his medical condition! He would not be able to attend the trial for that reason alone.
You guys have it all wrong. He hates western culture so we should force him to consume the worst that we have to offer: First, play nothing but Coolio and Britiny Spears music, and all of the tv channels play nothing except the Ricky Lake Show. Then we can force him to eat McDonalds and just when he thinks it can’t get any worse…
we dress him in flourescent leggings, spandex pants and bring in Manilli Vanilli to perform… EVERY DAY!!!

Gary, I want him dead as well, but reality is that he’s infinitely more valuable alive. The intel he could provide makes him priceless….that’s why they’re trying to get him w hellfire missiles and not commandos. He knows the names, the places, the countries, and the deeds. Think of it this way, he could be captured, brought to the US, put on 60Minutes in an orange jumpsuit, and he could just spew away all the details of how President A, B, C, D, and E each fubar’d. He could name the people AQ’s worked with in the US, in Pakistan, in Iran, Saudi, and Iraq to name a few. This man has crossed the line from where knowledge is power and has value to where it actually makes him a target; to where knowledge is a liability that makes him better off dead for everyone except you and me.
Great insight Scott. I agree with you 100%. I would love for him to die a long death in a cage here in the USA. It would be way worse than death for him, but ultimately (and unfortunately) I bet he dies in a quick and violent way and his body disappears. If his body does pop up somewhere, we should not allow it to be interred as a shrine.
I don’t think you will have to worry about Delta Force reading him Miranda rights. You can’t read to a dead man. The FBI might read him the Miranda, but he really does not have these rights because he is not a US citizen, but who knows under Obama maybe he will get a green card. As for the prison in the US, I suggest general population at the Penitentiary of New Mexico.
You know Scott, I have to agree with you on all your points. But for the sake of debate then I really do not believe that he would ever be captured alive. Or if he would be, we would wake up to read where he had slipped in the shower and broken his neck. But then what if he was captured and lived, can you imagine the leaks? The headlines? Since you pointed out, I cannot see where he would be left alive. And then you have all of his “suspected Saudi, and Yemeni” backers, and other Arab nations too. And who else has he gotten money from?
Its all ways amazed me that this lowlife one of the most recognizable people in history has avoided capture. And especially with his life threateningcondition that requires medical attention.
Yet he is always one step ahead of Johnny Law. Really makes one stop and think does it not?
If I were a defense attorney for these scum and my case had not gone to trial, I would not consent to a four month adjournment but would immediately make a motion to throw out the case and have my clients immediately released because the government just threw out the entire basis for my clients’ prosecution, with Obama’s Executive Order that revoked all prior legal opinions and foundation for the WoT. Mr. Obama can’t continue to hold anyone at Guantanamo, since there is no legal basis anymore for such detention due to his arrogant publicity stunt. I’d file leave in some California district court knowing the odds are high that there is some ACLU transplant on the bench looking to make a name for himself/herself.
I’d analogize this situation as if the Highest Court of the Country had just ruled that there was no legal basis anymore for the detention and call attention to how that Court called everything that was done against my clients torture and illegal and against the very principles our country holds dear. And given that these judges had voted for the man who espoused such nonsense, they could not but agree to dismiss the case and release my innocent harmless clients into American soil, because the country of origin of my clients are too brutal to be able to be trusted with the wellbeing of my clients. Or to put it another way, Guilty as Sin, Free as A Bird, America what a country under douchebag liberals.
My only problem with capturing or killing OBL is that libs would then declare the WoT over (they have already without his capture) cut all funding to the Defense Department and transfer everything to their ill conceived social programs.
