Bowe Bergdahl walked away from his post during a war. That is not in doubt. A local radio host today said his dad told him that had that happened during WWII on a Navy ship that person would not ever see home again. My father, a WWII combat vet, would have said the same thing.
On 2010 the Daily Mail reported that a “captured” US soldier had converted to Islam and was abetting the enemy, teaching ambush skills and bomb making techniques to the Taliban.
That dovetails rather well with the account of one of Bergdahl’s fellow soldiers:
Fuller, who stated that Bergdahl pretty much kept to himself and didn’t socialize with other soldiers, said that attacks on the base increased after Army sergeant left.
“Whenever he went and walked off the base, only stuff that we know, that we trained for, that the sports that we know on vehicles, how are moves are, stuff like that, they were getting hit very precisely,” Fuller explained to Fox News.
“And the ambushes we used, the certain tactics that we used, the Taliban was picking up on those things and the Haqqani network started using the same things as well.
“So they were very precise and very accurate. You could tell it was somebody on the inside that had that info.”
Multiple soldiers have confirmed Bergdahl’s desertion. They knew Bergdahl deserted. They heard the chatter:
Within days of his disappearance, says Buetow, teams monitoring radio chatter and cell phone communications intercepted an alarming message: The American is in Yahya Khel (a village two miles away). He’s looking for someone who speaks English so he can talk to the Taliban.

Obama violated the law he signed into being by not advising Congress of his intentions.
Top members of Congress were briefed more than two years ago about the possibility of exchanging an American soldier held captive by the Taliban for five terror suspects at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, senior Democrats and Republicans said Tuesday.
In a statement, House Speaker John Boehner said lawmakers raised serious concerns that were never satisfactorily answered about the potential swap involving Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl and received assurances from the Obama administration that if a deal were more likely, Congress would be contacted.
Lawmakers weren’t informed until word came this past Saturday of the exchange.
Obama lied. Again, that is.
Obama bypassed Congress because he knew that once they knew all the details they would veto the trade. Twice Congress rejected the swap and without a doubt Obama didn’t tell Congress that Bergdahl was a deserter.
The Pentagon warned against the trade for Bergdahl.
Hillary promised that they’d abide by the law:
Secretary Clinton in a January 13, 2012, letter to the leadership of the House and Senate Intelligence Committees stated: “I want also to make clear that any transfer from Guantanamo will be undertaken after consultation with Congress and pursuant to all legal requirements for transfers, including those spelled out in the FY2012 Defense Authorization Act.”
The outpouring of idiocy from the Obama regime is mindboggling.
Bowe Bergdahl deserted his post. He said “The horror that is America is disgusting” and was promoted for doing so.
Susan Rice said he deserted his post with served with “honor and distinction.”
At least six soldiers died looking for the deserter and secretary of Defense Hagel doesn’t know a thing about that.
State Department spokesperons Marie Hanf claims the soldiers who served with Bergdahl and were witness to the his desertion weren’t qualified to opine on it.
Those who were abandoned by Bergdahl are accused by the White House of “swiftboating” Bergdahl.
It is distressing but not unexpected that Barack Obama would crap on those American soldiers who did not abandon their posts and did not abet the enemy in favor of the deserter who did. This country has no obligation to “rescue” anyone who walks away as Bergdahl did.

Much less make him a hero and trash those who didn’t shame their country. I’ve never seen anything like this.

Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, Brandon Friedman, has been tweeting that Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl may deserve “sympathy” because of the possibility that “his platoon was long on psychopaths and short on leadership.”
If that were the case, he argues, “the soldiers in his platoon would have all the more reason to smear him publicly now.”

Let me address the swift boating allegation. Bergdahl is being swift boated. That is fact. Swift boating refers to the actions of the servicemen who served with John F’n Kerry in Vietnam. For the four months and 22 days of his deployment there, that is. We have never heard Kerry’s side of the story, as he will not sign the release allowing his military records to be made public. The veterans who spoke out about Kerry did so during his Presidential campaign, as they believed he was not fit to serve. Their evidence: 1) his posturing (making videos of himself); 2) his purple hearts (being nicked by a splinter); 3) his inability to follow orders; 4) his inability to lead his command; 5) his Silver Star with V for Valor (no such award exists), given to him for shooting an unarmed teenager in the back; 6) his unlawful negotiations with the Vietcong; 7) his blatantly false testimony before Congress; I could go on.
The swift boat veterans spoke out because we were lied to. The Bergdahl servicemen are similarly speaking out because we are being lied to. Bergdahl is at best a deserter and at worst a traitor. That much is clear. He did not serve with either honor or distinction. The earlier investigation is still sealed (like Kerry’s records). We don’t know who ordered the search for him when he deserted, nor why, after EIGHT servicemen lost their lives, the search was called off. We do not know who classified the earlier investigation. Michelle Malkin as as good an idea as anyone about this, since she followed the story in 2009.
I expect Bergdahl to return to the United States, given the Medal of Honor, and appointed as a speechwriter for the President. Bergdahl is the reification of Obama’s policies, as set forth in his apology tour.

The left is synonymous with being anti-military therefore it is no surprise that they would not respect the opinions of Bergdahl’s battle buddies whom he left. As I stated on another thread, the left really doesn’t care about Bergdahl. What really irks them is that the Soldiers who are speaking out have caused grief for Obama and that is the real issue to them. Sticking up for Bergdahl is just another means to an end for them. The minute he outlives his usefulness as a propaganda tool, they will throw him to the wayside just like all the women and children that were gassed in Syria were.
Benefit of the doubt. I am more than willing to extend that to Bergdahl in this case because I am so grateful to all our military men and women that I think they deserve over and above the usual leeway.
So, that being said, until hearings are held (by the military specifically on charges of desertion) I presume Bergdahl to be innocent, but at the very least somewhat mentally unstable; SOMETHING happened that night that caused him to become in the possession of the Taliban.
Which means that only stupidity or dishonesty can explain the administration presenting Bergdahl as anything but an American soldier retrieved from the enemy. Not honorable, not distinctive, not anything but back in our possession.
This itself is enough to, based on this administration’s history of deceit, enough to raise all sorts of legitimate doubt. Then there is all the secrecy from Congress, the doubtful ill health (he has been dangerously sick for 6 months; Congress could not be brought into the loop in that period?) and serious doubts about Bergdahl’s dedication to his Army, his platoon, his fellow soldiers and his country.

It is quite obvious he left his post. The hard part will be proving intent/mental state. They will have to prove that he intended to stay away from his unit permanently. Of course, only he knows that. If he says his intentions were to leave and come back but was captured first or that he originally intended to permanently leave but changed his mind and was then captured coming back, then they will have to find evidence showing that was not the case. He knows what the stakes are and he will have the political backing of the WH making the case for desertion even more difficult to prove. My early gut feeling is that he gets a less than honorable discharge for being AWOL. As you said, we’ll have to let the legal process to work itself out.

Based on what is out there now, the evidence supports he intended to desert. He either took off on some sort of a personal soul finding mission and was captured or he went to seek out the Taliban. The hard part is proving mental state. The reason why it will be difficult for justice to be served is that the WH has already publicly stated its position on this matter which is that he served with honor and distinction. Any 15-6 that proves otherwise makes the WH look like buffoons. In addition, if it contradicts the original 15-6 there will be those in the Army who will want their asses covered as well. There will no doubt be unwritten pressure applied to the 15-6 officer(s) and to the Court Martialing authority, if it comes to that, to come to a conclusion that does not make the WH look like buffoons. The WH has already started their smear campaign against those who have spoken up and contradicted their claims.

If the better part of open mindedness is an allowance that he may be totally innocent, it also holds true that an intelligent person with an intellect would hold open the possibility that he indeed DID take a big steamer on all his fellow soldiers, since there is ample evidence indicating it is so. “Bssh’s” (I’ll assume you mean Bush) body bags? More have died, and for less purpose, under Obama’s direction than under Bush. But, we still had soldiers being killed. As to the VA, while Obama happily used the situation at the VA (which Bush brought to Obama’s attention) as a campaign speech topic, repeatedly, he chose to ignore the veterans (except when he was locking them out of their memorial) and the VA, with obvious results.

On Glenn Beck’s The Blaze, he told how someone in the obama administration (I don’t remember the name) said that they were going to release the five anyway, and that they thought they should get something for it. The statement was made for the record. obama was going to release the TOP FIVE enemy members from Gitmo, without congressional approval. Since not ONE republican has done ANYTHING about this, this tells me that they are in on it. Why do you members of the republican party keep putting these people back in charge of the USA, when they are proving that they are either letting obama bring down the country, or are helping him do it?
