There is no excuse: child molestation is the murder of an innocent soul, for that soul will never be able to grow and mature into the adult that it was meant to be. We all know victims of childhood sexual molestation, whether they have told you or not, you know them. Some of them have a strong survival instinct and persevere through the shame and confusion to become productive adults: others are destroyed, they are the ones for whom the pain and humiliation were too much. They are often consumed by drugs and alcohol or they become prostitutes to complete their pain and be ground down into the gutters of life.
These broken birds were damaged and preyed upon so that some sick twisted bastard could have a few minutes of pleasure by compromising the life of a child. If there is a hierarchy of sick perverted bastards, this type of scum is among the lowest sickest human beings on the face of the earth.
Jerry Sandusky, the alleged serial rapist of boys, claims that he didn’t have sex with these boys; no, not at all, he just showered with them, touched their legs, and rough housed with them. There is something wrong with a man who defends his actions with such antics. He assumes it is perfectly natural for a middle aged man to shower with adolescent boys and to touch their legs in a non-sexual way. He said this in an interview to try and gain sympathy. The problem is, this constitutes sexual perversion to most of us and only a pervert would see it as normal behavior.
Sandusky claims that he likes children; perhaps, he is just a little too affectionate when he hugs them in the shower and touches their legs. Its all been a horrible mistake; he is just a soft pervert, not an utterly despicable sexual deviant.
It is time for all of us to realize these perverts are out there and they are always ready to attack. We must be ready to offer a helping and appropriate hand or to call the police. Be ready to offer assistance or a listening ear if necessary.
Once upon a time, I was able to provide assistance. It wasn’t dramatic and I should have done more. A young teenage girl rode up while I was working at a horse show and literally holding on to a horse. She said some men were following her and making inappropriate comments. I told her to stand next to me and they would not bother her. They suddenly lost interest and found other things to occupy their weak minds. I asked her where her parents were, it turned out her dad was the manager of the show. I told her we will go talk to him. We walked over the office and related the story to her father. The workers were promptly told to straighten up or ship out.
Perhaps, I should have called the cops immediately. I’m not sure. I was hopelessly outnumbered if the situate would haven turned ugly, but thankfully, my presence was enough to defuse the incident, sometimes just a little help can make a difference. Most perverts are cowards and facing an adult is more than they can handle.
I will promise to always be there to help a child. If everyone would make that commitment, our children would be much safer.

As you well know, those of us with a race track background in many parts of this country and in some cases probably deservedly so, are considered dregs of society or worse. So be it, However, in all of my years on the track, no matter who it was, no one would ever allow a child to be harmed or worse ever! Race trackers were and are many things, but at least when you and I were still there, race trackers had a certain honor and code. In my day” we would have done whatever was needed” to someone like Sandusky.
Maybe its the fact that any groom out there considers the horses under their care as “their children”. I don’t know, but I do know that the race tracker of old would never have allowed something like this to go on under their noses.
Using my above premise, I have to wonder. how screwed up has our society become when children are not protected and worse?

JoeT, now that you mention it, during my time on the track, I never heard of a such a case. On some of those tracks, an offender like Sandusky might meet an untimely end. Kids were special among people who cared for the horses.
It makes me wonder, how in the world are they even able to groom them, how could they gain trust like that? The reason I wonder is because of my son’s, grandson’s and now great-grandson’s built in modesty. With my boys it has shown up when they are about three years old and they start being bashful even with their mother, by the time they were all on their own, the doors were shut, their privacy was respected.
What do these predators do to break their modesty or get that close? Don’t answer, don’t want any how tos on the internet. It’s just been a wonder to me, if any pervert were to go after any one of mine, I’d find a way to make him pay dearly!
Missy, I have no direct knowledge of how they gain trust, but in this case, I think part of the problem is our over emphasis on sports and the players. Young boys grow up wanting access to the storied heroes and the locker rooms. It is similar to the worshiping of musicians by adolescents and many older people. Young people set themselves up to be abused by the hundreds by these “Rock Stars” and their fame.
Their is a flaw in our culture that needs to be identified and discussed to keep from ruining lives by predators and by those who enable the predation.

You know, a friend and I were talking about this the other day. Being a proud southerner I told him that if this had happened in the SEC, the guy would have committed suicide…..by shotgun from about 30′ away. All the forensics would have panned out and the Rocket City Rednecks would have gone on TV to show the physics of how such a thing could take place.

Now the damage will be worse, and for a longer time.
There was a case here in Louisiana back in 84. A 10 y/o boy, Jody Plauche, was kidnapped by his karate instructor and taken to California the police caught up to the perverted sodomite at The Soama Motel in Anehiem, CA–room 38 but not before he had sexually abused the boy more than once.
The boys father found out the perp, a Mr. Deucet, was being transported back to LA from the News channel covering his return. The Dad waited in the airport pretending to be on the phone and once the “suspect” passed him, handcuffed and escorted by law enforcement, the father, Gary Plauche, placed one well aimed round into the bastards brain housing group.
Mr Plauche pleaded no contest and recieved 5 years probation.

What really riles me about the whole incident Sandusky issue was Mike McQueary’s testimony
McQueary said he SAW Sandusky in the showers buggering a boy he thought to about10 years old, AND HE TURNED AROUND AND LEFT! After that he called his Dad? Then he waits till the next day to call Paterno? WTF?!
Now I realize that McQueary is now saying that he stopped the abuse and went straight to the police but that is not what he told the Grand Jury. In my opinion McQueary is lying and merely trying to cover his arse. He should be ashamed.
We should all be ashamed of the sad state our Nation has devolved into and swear an oath to ourselves and to God to do everything in our power to reverse this trend. I know that I am as guilty as most everyone else of enabling this to happen, I quit going to church and my kids don’t have the same foundation I had, I lived in sin (out of wedlock) before I got married and after my divorce I did it again, I allowed my children to be exposed this “lifestyle” and they now accept such behavior as normal. I tried to keep this one apolitical and my reference to BO was in commentary and devoid of the real subject at issue. It appears as if there is going to be serious fall out for anyone in a position of influence or power, who is taking advantage of children. If good comes out of this disaster, I hope it brings to light more of the predators. I know you are a team sports guy and I can picture you being disgusted with this sick behavior. As to what I would do if I were accused of sexual abuse as an officer in a corporation by multiple women. That’s a good question, because many women and maybe men who are near the pint of being canned from a job may see this as an option to getting fired. After listening to several lawyers explain the procedure in large corporations, I don’t think the individual officer has options; he may not even be aware of the charges or the resolution.
I will never be in that situation as an officer in a corporation, but if I was, I would make a point of never again being alone with woman or closing a door. I would keep myself above reproach.

Hey maybe some people are misinformed but when you are a director/boss of a private and some cases even a government agency the business pays off the person making the allegations. Its common practice, and has been since the mid 90’s. The business has insurance for that, and if your smart you have insurance as well. Where the conflict arises id who insurance will make the pay out. Its like car/house insurance, if your insuraqnce has to amke it, your rates go up. Guilty or not! And if you are in your right mind you will not fight a phony claim. Your insurance will go through the roof, you will spend valuable time in court with your lawyers, you will get behind in all your duties, it will go to the newspaper, you will be found guilty by the press, even if the women/men recant their allegations, and or the court finds you Not Guilty!, the damage has been done for good to your so called friking honor, and reputation. And you may have more than one case going on at the same time. Why? Many reasons. They may hate you for your success, and or your a demanding boss, or it may be political, or someone may want your job. The insurance company will send out investigators to check into all of this, many times they catch the perp, and she/he drops the charges. The press never reports that though. Its not juicy enough. And then sometimes the big man/woman tells you to take one for the team, to suck it up, and swallow your pride. If you don’t you lose that career, and great benefits, and your retirement. “your honor, pride and ego cannot pay the bills,and you sure as hell can’t eat it”. Democrats expect Republicans to disprove allegations, without substantive proof to support the allegations.
