We have boots on the ground in Libya [Reader Post]

You an an idiot to believe anything Barack Obama says

Despite repeated assurances from President Obama and military leaders that the U.S. would not send uniformed military personnel into Libya, four U.S. service members arrived on the ground in Tripoli over the weekend.

According to Pentagon spokesman Capt. John Kirby, the four unidentified troops are there working under the State Department’s chief of mission to assist in rebuilding the U.S. embassy.

Kirby noted the embassy in Tripoli was badly damage during the conflict between Muammar al-Qaddafi’s forces and the rebels.

Two of the military personnel are explosive-ordnance experts who will be used to disable any explosives traps left in the embassy. The other two are “general security,” according to Kirby.

The troops are only expected to be there a for short while. After the assessment of the embassy is complete, they are expected to leave.

Obama assured Americans in March when the bombing campaign over Libya began that there would be no boots on the ground.

“I said that America’s role would be limited, that we would not put ground troops into Libya, that we would focus our unique capabilities on the front end of the operation and that we would transfer responsibility to our allies and partners. Tonight, we are fulfilling that pledge,” he said at the National Defense University in Washington D.C. on March 22.

Since the,n U.S. officials speaking on the condition of anonymity have acknowledged the CIA has had a small number of so called “spotters” on the ground to assist in the NATO mission. It’s also well known that other foreign governments have sent special operations forces to fight on the ground with the rebels.

Kirby wouldn’t say if there were plans to send more U.S. troops in the future.

And you’re an even bigger idiot if you think the Republicans in the House will demand that Obama uphold the rule of law.

I think most people understand “ground troops” to mean a somewhat greater military presence than four soldiers on duty at a U.S. embassy and a few CIA spotters gathering intelligence.

My god you are such a liar.

Obama is so tone deaf when it comes to Islam.
In Libya he had to lie (to us) because he intended to put boots on the ground there.

Remember Obama thought talking to the Taliban and Hezb’allah was a great idea.
It was less than two months from when he took office that Obama was considering talking to less extreme elements of the Taliban.

In March 2011 Obama was trying to figure out HOW to talk with the Taliban and Hezb’allah.

Back in May 2011 we learned that Obama had already (when they started we don’t know) begun talking with the Taliban.

So, today the Taliban admits taking credit for attacks on US and NATO forces in Afghanistan.
Obama should have us all the way out of Afghanistan as a result.
Weak horse.
I wonder what he will give them as a parting gift?
Millions?
Billions?
Trillions?

Dr. J. I know how much you admired the Colonel and the sadness felt at his departure but this is ridiculous.

Don’t you think conservatives would do the same?

I had not realized, until this uprising made me look it up, but around 70,000 people in Libya are refugees from Gaza/West Bank.
The ”Palestinians” are insisting on a UN vote that they be declared a state this month.
But no foreign ”Palestinian” refugee will be allowed to ”come home.”

Lebanon’s Daily Star puts it this way:

Palestinian refugees will not become citizens of a new Palestinian state, according to Palestine’s ambassador to Lebanon.

Ambassador Abdullah Abdullah spoke to The Daily Star Wednesday about Palestine’s upcoming bid for U.N. statehood.

The ambassador unequivocally says that Palestinian refugees would not become citizens of the sought for U.N.-recognized Palestinian state, an issue that has been much discussed. “They are Palestinians, that’s their identity,” he says. “But … they are not automatically citizens.”

This would not only apply to refugees in countries such as Lebanon, Egypt, Syria and Jordan or the other 132 countries where Abdullah says Palestinians reside. Abdullah said that “even Palestinian refugees who are living in [refugee camps] inside the [Palestinian] state, they are still refugees. They will not be considered citizens.”

Well, that includes these ~70,000 Libyans who are NOT citizens of Libya, too.
Just think; hurting Israel is more important to the leaders in Gaza/West bank than helping ”their own.”
