The founders of this country warned against a single party impeachment because they feared it would bitterly, and perhaps irreparably, divide our nation. This risk was openly acknowledged in years past by the very Democrats who are leading the single party impeachment charade today. Our radical liberal colleagues have vowed to impeach President Donald J. Trump since the day of his election, they have desperately created a fraudulent, unprecedented process to pursue that goal, and now they are pulling the trigger on what was described by the Minority’s expert witness in our House Judiciary Committee as ‘the shortest proceeding, with the thinnest evidentiary record, and the narrowest grounds ever used to impeach a president.’” This is impeachment a sham, and here is why.

Trump has not commited one act that would call for Impeachment however Obama commited many acts that should have got him Impeached by these rotten Democrats choose to ignore the whole thing,Frankly its them who should all me removed from Office

Democrats have established the precedent that all that is required for impeachment is a majority in the House and the will to lie. Lord help us if this becomes common.

The outcome was so predictable and the evidence so weak and ridiculous that Democrats were watching GOLF during the hearings.

@Greg: Donald Trump is the President of the United States of America and, in addition to being the director of foreign policy (making your impeachment garbage) he is also the leader of the country and due respect and obedience. What he has said to McConnell is that he wants a full trial with witnesses, testimony, evidence and exposure. THAT’S what Democrats in the House have fought desperately to avoid. What YOU and Democrats want is a quick dismissal of the ridiculous stupidity so you can claim Republicans just voted party line. No, scooter…. Republicans are going to PROVE your impeachment was nothing but a ploy to keep Democrat corruption covered up.

Is exactly what happened, now there are articles Mc Connell is not going to allow the goal posts to be moved. All evidence will be shared and Witnesses wont be allowed to be hidden or tampered with.
A carefully methodical defense will be prepared, I dont expect much executive privilege will be tried cause the President did nothing wrong.
They wont be allowed to put in evidence the hearsay of opinion news articles where the information in the article comes from the same liars that are holding the hearings circular BS.
So yeah dont say I dont understand, I simply refuse to accept your viewpoint.

Any sessions involving discussion of classified information would necessarily be closed meetings. There were plenty of televised hearings, and they would have gone on far longer if thirteen central witnesses with direct insider knowledge of Trump’s Ukraine chicanery hadn’t illegally defied congressional subpoenas and refused to testify.

Do you believe the House impeachment vote should have occurred around midnight under the cover of darkness, or should it be done in the full light of day with the public watching? Rep. Collins certainly lost it when Nadler unexpectedly prevented that maneuver.

The expected reactions here to McConnell’s admission of abusing his powers to rig the impeachment outcome is yet another example of what I’ve been saying for some time. It just doesn’t matter.

When it comes to protecting Trump, from anything, even to the point that McConnell completely and blatantly promised he would disregard the oath he will take under Article 1, Section 3 of the Constitution, anything is fair game. Regardless of how illegal, corrupt, and in defiance of the constitution, Trump is placed above the law by his supporters, on anything and everything. Article 1, Section 3 clearly delineates:

“The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation.” (That oath, or affirmation, every senator will take says) “that in all things appertaining to the trial of the impeachment of [President Trump], now pending, I will do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws: So help me God.”

So Moscow Mitch is promising to disregard his oath to do impartial justice. And per the Trump loyalist, this is perfectly acceptable.

There is no crime that Trump could commit, no scenario, that would change this.

That’s like the presiding juror publicly announcing before the beginning of a court trial that he and a majority of jurors are coordinating all of their efforts with the defendant’s attorney, are in total alignment with the attorney, and that there’s no possibility that the defendant can be found guilty.

Do you not see a serious problem? This is how you break an important constitutional safeguard. It’s how you get leaders whose powers are no longer limited by constitutional law. Once done, you don’t put the genie back in the bottle.

Ward: IF your rendition of what you think you can convince people to believe you think was even true, I would say, “So, what?” The Democrats in the House did exactly what you are accusing McConnell of doing before he even does it but you were happy with that; worse, in fact. How about the genie that all a party needs is a majority in the House and the will to LIE in order to run an impeachment scam? Are you satisfied that these spoiled little children masquerading as Representatives have abused their power to this extent? Pelosi ADMITS they have been working on impeachment since Trump was elected. Most of the House Judiciary Democrats voted for impeachment BEFORE anything about the Ukrainian call was known, PROVING they have been hell-bent on impeachment, only searching for a premise. Now, because their time is running out, they decided to move forward even WITHOUT a premise. Totally anti-American. ANYONE supporting this impeachment is anti-American, and that has nothing to do with support for Trump; it has to do with a willingness to ignore all the principles that makes this nation great and unique to seize power.
