There is no occupation in Gaza, Rep. Omar

Hamas fired more than 600 rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel, killing four civilians and specifically targeting civilian territory with no military value, including a kindergarten and a medical center. The attack was unprovoked.

In response, Israel initiated a number of airstrikes, killing one Hamas member, eight jihadists, and around a dozen civilians.

Naturally, Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., came out in support of Hamas. There’s just one problem here: there is no occupation in Gaza.

Israel formally disengaged from Gaza in 2005, both withdrawing its entire military presence from the region and dismantling all of its settlements. Since 2007, Hamas, deemed a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union, has controlled the region.

With all due respect, congresswoman, after coming under the fire of 600 rockets unprovoked, “real justice” would have been Israel responding with 600 rockets of their own instead of a few targeted airstrikes intended to take out Hamas terrorists. Considering that Gaza’s population density significantly outranks Israel’s, that would have caused hundreds if not thousands of fatalities rather than dozens.

That would not have been a good thing. So no, “real justice” would bring neither “security” nor “peace.”

The “endless cycle of violence” would cease in perpetuity if Palestinians were able to remove the literal terrorist organization now in power (officials in Gaza have managed to avoid holding elections for 13 years now), or if said terrorist organization were to stop launching barbaric attacks at Israel unprompted.

Rep Dan Crenshaw said it better than I could:

Since Hamas talking points are being circulated in our political discourse, let’s get some things straight:

– Israel pulled out of Gaza in 2005.

– Hamas uses Gaza to launch rockets on Israeli civilians. 700 this weekend.

– Palestinians are held hostage by Hamas, not Israel.

I wonder who Ilhan would have sided with when Hamas took Gaza from Fatah.
They (Hamas) lyingly called all of Fatah’s leadership “homosexuals,” then did one of two things:
Some were thrown off roofs to die, others were shot in the backs of both knees and refused medical treatment to die or become crippled.

Israel formally disengaged from Gaza in 2005, both withdrawing its entire military presence from the region and dismantling all of its settlements. Since 2007, Hamas, deemed a terrorist organization by the United States and the European Union, has controlled the region.

And this is what happens when Israel trusts the Palestinians. Of course, Omar will not face backlash from her constituents; that region has been flooded with Muslims thinking they are the leading edge of the effort to take over America.

There will be no backlash from Pelosi or any other Democrat, either. They fear Omar.

With all due respect, congresswoman,

There is no respect due her.
