We Read All 4,400 DEI Grants So You Don’t Have To – Spoiler: It Was Worse Than You Think

The Left is suing to reinstate Biden’s DEI grants, claiming it’s “discrimination” to stop funding race-based, woke research. But here’s the truth:

What the NIH actually shut down was a pipeline of radical, discriminatory pseudoscience disguised as academic research — and funded with your tax dollars.

We reviewed all 4,400 grants. Here’s what was really going on:

• $740,000 went to NYU for a project called ADEPT: Assessing Diversity Effects Post Affirmative Action Restrictions in Medical Schools.

  • The stated purpose? Study how med schools can preserve racial preferences after the Supreme Court’s Students for Fair Admissions decision.

  • The real goal? Keep race-based admissions alive under the cover of “equity and inclusion.”

This wasn’t scientific inquiry. It was government-funded resistance to a lawful ruling.

• $2.1 million was awarded to Emory University to study methamphetamine use among Black gay and bisexual men who have sex with men (GBMSM).

  • The goal: “generate knowledge” about how racism, homophobia, and “health inequities” supposedly cause meth addiction.

Drug use is now rebranded as a symptom of oppression — not a personal or medical issue.

• $2.3 million funded a study claiming that “structural racism” is the primary cause of disparities in kidney disease outcomes.

  • The solution? Implement race-based interventions that would alter how patients are prioritized for treatment and organ transplants.

Identity would override medical urgency or need.

• $2.2 million was spent to explore alcohol use among sexual minority adolescents of color, focusing on “intersectional minority stress.”

  • This six-phase study aimed to document the daily effects of oppression on teenage drinking.

They’re calling this science. It’s social activism with a lab coat.

• $6 million was funneled into the University of Michigan to recruit and promote “underrepresented” PhD students in biomedical sciences — based explicitly on race, sex, and ethnicity.

  • It was part of the university’s $85 million DEI infrastructure and promoted as a racial representation pipeline for science.

The Trump administration terminated it — rightfully so.

• $348,000 funded a study on how stigma and relationship problems affect alcohol use in trans and nonbinary young adults.

  • The real goal? Help the researcher launch their career by running a gender-affirming therapy program called Whole Selves.

This is careerist identity politics masquerading as research.

• $1.1 million supported a study tracking whether people drink more when their sexual orientation changes over time.

  • That’s right — NIH wants to correlate “sexual fluidity” with alcohol abuse.

This is social engineering, not science.

• $262,704 paid for a peer-led “gender-affirming” therapy program for transgender women (i.e., biological men).

  • It used Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to instill “pride in one’s gender identity.”

  • The researcher openly stated that the goal was to build a career in transgender health and pursue more federal funding.

You’re funding their résumé padding.

• $26 million went to Emory University for the FIRST program — an identity-based academic pipeline designed to recruit and promote women and “underrepresented minorities” in STEM.

  • The program embeds race and sex preferences into academic systems from top to bottom.

Qualifications optional. Identity mandatory.

• $2.1 million (since terminated) was given to the University of Washington to apply Critical Race Theory to addiction treatment.

  • Researchers argued that COVID-era policies were “structural interventions” that had to be re-engineered through a CRT lens.

Again, ideological indoctrination dressed up as science.

• NIH also gave millions to Vanderbilt University to hire 18 tenure-track professors — but only if they were:

  • Black

  • Latinx

  • American Indian

  • Pacific Islander

White and Asian candidates? Explicitly excluded.

Pulling this grant wasn’t “discrimination.”
Funding it was.

The Left insists that cutting these programs hurts minorities and LGBTQ+ Americans. But the truth is clear:

What’s truly discriminatory is funneling billions in federal funds into “inclusive” identity-based pseudoscience that deliberately excludes everyone else.

It’s not research.
It’s institutionalized bias — branded as “equity” and paid for by you.
