A CNN interview with Trump campaign press secretary Karoline Leavitt ended abruptly after she used the platform to attack the moderators of the upcoming presidential debate hosted by the network.
On Monday morning, Leavitt appeared on “CNN This Morning” and was speaking to host Kasie Hunt about the upcoming the debate, which will be moderated by the network’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash.
However, it took a turn as the press secretary chose to attack the two moderators instead of answer Hunt’s questions.
“It takes about five minutes to Google Jake Tapper, Donald Trump to see that Jake Tapper has consistently compared President Trump to Adolf Hitler,” Leavitt said.
Hunter interjected, “Ma’am, we’re going to stop this interview if you’re going to keep attacking my colleagues… I would like to talk about Joe Biden and Donald Trump, who you work for.”
“If you are here to speak on his behalf I am willing to have this conversation,” she added.

Still, Leavitt pressed on, insisting, “I am stating facts that your colleagues have stated in the past…”
At that point, Hunt ended the interview, as she said, “I’m sorry. We’re going to come back after the panel. Karoline, thanks very much for your time. You are welcome to come back at any point.”
“She is welcome to come back and speak about Donald Trump. And Donald Trump will have equal time to Joe Biden when they both join us… later this week in Atlanta for this debate,” she added.
Later, Hunt posted on X, “You come on my show, you respect my colleagues. Period. I don’t care what side of the aisle you stand on, as my track record clearly shows.”
Leavitt fired back, “You cut off my microphone for bringing up the debate moderator’s history of anti-Trump lies. This proved our point that President Trump will not be treated fairly on Thursday.”

No live audience
While past debates have usually included a live studio audience, that won’t be the case this time. While Trump thrives on performing for a crowd, the move was made to limit interruptions.
Audiences have, in the past, broken from tradition and clapped or cheered for their candidate and booed opponents during debates. To avoid disrupting the event or throwing off the times allotted for questions and responses, the candidates will have to get through this debate without their supporters present.
Muted microphones
In 2020, Trump repeatedly interrupted Biden during his speaking time, something he also did to former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton during the 2016 contest. Although moderators tried to get debates back on track following outbursts, they weren’t always successful.
This time, both Trump and Biden have agreed to have their microphones muted when it isn’t their turn to speak. Though the move has been made to limit interruptions, it could also mean missing out on iconic debate moments that come from candidates being caught off-guard on a hot mic.
No notes, no props
Neither candidate will be allowed to bring notes or props into the debate. That rule comes as the mental fitness and age of both candidates has been raised as an issue. They will be given a pen, notepad and bottle of water on stage.
Both Biden and Trump have had their share of gaffes caught on camera, from misspeaking words to apparent memory lapses. No notes will force both of them to demonstrate their abilities to address tough issues without a cheat sheet.

In contrast to the usual format, the debate will begin by immediately delving into questions. Each candidate will have two minutes to respond and one minute for rebuttals. Moderators will also be allowed to grant extra time if they think it’s necessary.

06/14/24 – Republicans Are Bringing Back Their Plan to Gut Social Security and Medicare – A new budget proposal for the 2024 fiscal year makes sweeping cuts.
“Gutting”? More like trying to save them while Democrats are giving Medicare and Medicaid benefits to illegal immigrants. Maybe instead of working to bankrupt the programs and complaining about what Republicans try to do to keep them viable, Democrats could offer some ideas of their own, instead of just new ways to bankrupt them faster.
They often say cuts when the budget doesnt go up. While they need to close schools because the number of enrolled drops (less kiddos) they say they need more money for feeding the kids hmmm.
