This is a flat-out lie. It is entirely untrue. It is invented from whole cloth. You can read the speech here and see for yourself.

By contrast, I do know why she said what she said. Duckworth said what she said because almost the entire press corps said the same thing within seconds of the speech’s conclusion, and, in so doing, it signaled to her and to everyone else that she could get away with it.
Which, of course, she will. The press will, too. Try to point out that her claim isn’t actually true, and you will be met with a series of non sequiturs, along with some pointed questions as to your motivations. “Well he says other things.” “Well, he’s not a good person in general.” “Well, I doubt he wrote it himself.” “Well, last year he said . . .” Or: “Why do you care, anyway?”
Why do I “care”? I care because (a) I don’t think it’s good for America to have a press corps that lies as brazenly as ours does, and (b) because what Trump actually said is exactly what we should want American presidents to say. The Confederacy was a monstrous and unsalvageable tyranny, led by figures who explicitly rejected the American Founding. It needed crushing, and it is a good thing that it was crushed. The Revolution, by contrast, was a unparallelled leap forward, the consequences of which have been almost entirely salutary, not only for America, but for the world.
democrats and the subversive media are now joined to Antifa/BLM at the hip. They all have a common goal- to destroy the United States of America. As Rich Lowry notes, patriotism is now “white supremacy.”
The left wing media pounced and seized on Trump. CNN reporter Leyla Santiago said
“kicking off the Independence Day weekend, President Trump will be at Mt. Rushmore where he’ll be standing in front of a monument of two slave owners and on land wrestled away from Native Americans, told that be focusing on the effort to, quote, tear down our country’s history.”
PMSNBC’s Tiffany Cross:
“And so here we are, celebrating the birth of a nation, independence for white men, at a site described by one native American activist as, quote, ‘A symbol of white supremacy. Trump choosing Mount Rushmore for a Fourth of July campaign stop is like when he chose Tulsa, the site of the 1921 massacre against black Americans, for his Juneteenth weekend rally. It’s that cold, tired, and familiar jab to black, brown, and indigenous people that makes the shrinking MAGA voter feel as big as a 60-foot face of a colonizing slave owner.”
In both cases we see that left wing history begins only when whites act. As I wrote a couple of days ago, the land upon which Mt. Rushmore sits was a site of savagery between Indian tribes.
But I’m so old that I remember when Mt. Rushmore was a wondrous piece of Americana. In 2008 when barack obama visited Mount Rushmore for some reason things were different.
In 2008, CNN anchor Ron Marciano said: “Barack Obama is campaigning in South Dakota. That state’s primary is Tuesday. Obama arrived there late last night and got a good look around Mt. Rushmore — it’s quite a sight if you haven’t seen it.”
Fellow anchor Betty Nguyen added: “Barack Obama is in South Dakota today. He arrived there last night. Take a look at this. He got a good glimpse of the majestic Mount Rushmore. Well, South Dakota and Montana have closed out the primary season on Tuesday.”
In 2016 Bernie Sanders said that Mount Rushmore made him proud to be an American

That was only four years ago. In the intervening time, there has been an evolution. democrats have evolved into complete hypocritical a**holes.
