The Week in Radical Leftism, 3/20/2020

Loading

Welcome back! I hope that week one of Kung Flu Lockdown hasn’t been too rough for you and your family. Not that you asked, but things are OK here at Chateau D’Bob. Our house has been a reverse Ozzie and Harriet – Current circumstances has left Sister Babe insanely busy at work, while some contract mix-ups have me unable to work for a few weeks. This actually worked out well to leave me in a position to handle the first week of Little Bob’s school being shut down and basically running his home schooling. And take care of Doggie Bob and all of the general household stuff. Not complaining, just grateful that life’s circumstances left us able to weather the storm. Our week actually ended pretty well – while imperfect, I didn’t completely botch Little Bob’s first week of home schooling, Sister Babe is seeing a light at the end of the tunnel of an insanely busy time on the job, I got a call from the job that we may be back up and running soon, and most importantly, the Philadelphia Eagles signed the one player whose jersey I have wanted to wear ever since he joined the NFL! Sadly, since Slayer has retired from touring I won’t get to rock his jersey at one of their shows.

On a more serious note, I’m assuming any non-troll reading this is already well prepared. Living just outside of The Most Wretched Hive of Scum and Villainy, I occasionaly talk to People Who Know People Who Know Things. And take this with a major grain of salt, but I’m hearing two things – 1) There is talk of DHS may be calling for a national lockdown. This appears to be false, but that doesn’t mean we may see draconian measures at the state and local level. And 2) Current circumstances will probably go on for three or four months. Let us know how you & your family is faming – I’m genuinely interested in how all fo the FA family is doing, so please let us knwo oin teh comments section.

All of that said, let’s get to the crazy with a quick jump into the Wayback Machine for some old but still sadly relevant stories:

4/7/2014 – When Boris Yeltsin went grocery shopping in Clear Lake

Don’t laugh – this could be President Occasio Cortez visiting a foreign country in 30 years.

7/27/18 – Sorry If You’re Offended, but Socialism Leads to Misery and Destitution

Sorry for what? I think that the urban poet Michael Muir has more appropriate way to apologize to Leftists .

1/15/20 – An Introduction To ‘Q’

Not an endorsement of Q nor everything in this link, but I’m posting this because I knew very little about Q before reading it.

3/12 – Report: Trump’s Border Wall Blocking 90% of Illegal Crossings

It’s fascinating how walls don’t work. Until they do.

3/13 – Will The Coronavirus Wipe Out The New World Order?

No chance – it’s going to take more than a virus to stop Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Syxx-Pac! (Sorry, couldn’t resist)

3/14 – Commie Bill DeBlasio: ‘This is a case for a nationalization of crucial factories and industries’

To paraphrase H.L. Mecken, If this goon ever wins another election, his constituents will deserve everything they get good and hard

3/14 – MICHIGAN SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR GRETCHEN WHITMER CONSIDERING MARTIAL LAW OVER COVID-19

Remember kids, voting against Democrats is the smart thing to do for a reason!

3/15 – Watch Feminazi Set Fellow Moonbat on Fire

The only disappointing part of this story is that it takes place in Mexico and doesn’t involve any of our homegrown Antifa thugs barbequeing themselves.

3/16 – The Joyous Resurgence of Global Sexism

Yes, another “study” that somehow is supposed to “prove” Leftist talking points is a load of horse hockey. I am shocked! Shocked I say!

3/17 – Coronavirus Will Give President Trump His Biggest Win

I usually don’t put in a comment this long, but in addition to the piece I linked (which you’ll want to read in its entirety), Ace of Spades’ J.J. Sefton offers this great analysis after you read the story at the link:

Bingo. I agree with Greenfield in that given the nature of this thing, Trump is in fact a wartime president. Funny how in one breath loathsome cretins like James Clyburn and Meathead Reiner claim Trump is like Hitler in the 1930s and then bitch and moan that he isn’t taking strong enough action. Well, okay then. How about President Trump issuing these emergency executive orders:

“…All regulations from the EPA, OSHA, Department of Energy, FTC, HHS, FDA, etc.et al are hereby suspended for a period of eight years so as to allow American businesses with manufacturing and distribution facilities located in China to relocate to the United States, as well as for businesses wanting to open new manufacturing plants here. All corporate taxes are hereby waived for a period of five years after plants are operational. Pharmaceutical and medical supply concerns will be given first priority…

By the way, these “temporary” orders should be temporary the way the emergency federal income tax was temporary during the First World War. I could go on and on but you get the picture. Sure, the Left will scream bloody murder but 50-plus years of overregulation and strangulation of American business and ingenuity by the bureaucracy that only helped grease the wheels for the greedy corporatist/crony bastards at the Chamber of Commerce to destroy the American worker and ship jobs and business overseas, specifically to China, is a slow and now quickening recipe for national suicide. Funny how Rahm Emanuel’s credo of “never letting a crisis go to waste” could actually serve as the model for the President to seriously torpedo the Left. Except this time, we face a real, existential crisis that was in many ways fueled by the Left. So bold and righteous action in the cause of liberating us from real danger are not only justified but what is required.

3/18 – Cult of Climastrology: Coronavirus Is A Great Opportunity To Implement ‘Climate Change’ Policy

Oddly enough, people aren’t seeing the way we’re living now and jumping for joy at the bright future that the Climastrologists are offering

3/19 – The Democrats Go Full Anti-Life

My position on the subject has generally been what I’d call “Squishy pro-abortion” – short answer is I think as a society we’re better off with it not being 100% illegal, but have issues with the crazier opinions, like Governor Coonman making me pay for infanticide, etc. I do think that the argument that Conservatives have gone further to the right is bunk. The Conservative position hasn’t changed – it merely appears so by the fact that for the left what was once supposed to be “safe, legal and rare”, has practically bcome a sacrament in the cult of Leftism.

3/20 – Justin Trudeau’s Canada Is Obama’s Dream for America

To close out on a positive note, if you’re wondering how bad things would be if Barry O were still president, look no further than our northern border. While I hate seeing this happen to our neighbors to whom we owe the awesomeness that is hockey, Rush, and The Trailer Park Boys, hopefully in the next election they’ll wake up and get a Prime Minister who will make Canada great again, eh?

ICYMI –  I finally found an angle on this topic where someone smarter than me hasn’t already weighed in, noting that The Left Is Failing at Kung Flu Fighting

From the archives – if you want the long answer on my abortion views, five years ago I asked the fair question of Where Are the Animal Rights Activists on the Planned Parenthood Videos?

Be sure to read below the first two tweet threads – welll worth your time. And a few tweets down, Jesse Kelly shows us all how to appropriately apologize to offended Leftists.

4/7/2014 – When Boris Yeltsin went grocery shopping in Clear Lake

I’m reading “Under the Loving Care of the Fatherly Leader”, a book about N. Korea (pre Un). What people in communist regimes go through, not only the privations but the measures taken to make sure they don’t learn TRUTH, is amazing and sobering. The parallels with our current Democrats are unmistakable.

7/27/18 – Sorry If You’re Offended, but Socialism Leads to Misery and Destitution

I wonder why those “successful” socialists have to latch on to a thriving capitalistic system before it begins its downward spiral? Maybe the left should encourage more petroleum exploitation if they want to be like Norway?

1/15/20 – An Introduction To ‘Q’

So… I shouldn’t just trust CNN and MSNBC? I am floored.

3/12 – Report: Trump’s Border Wall Blocking 90% of Illegal Crossings

Well, doesn’t this prove the left’s objections? The argued that it wasn’t worth doing if it didn’t stop 100% of all illegal immigrants all the time, not just reduce hundreds of thousands a year down to a trickle. And you know how fixated they are on perfection. Once again, the left has been proven absolutely right… right?

3/13 – Will The Coronavirus Wipe Out The New World Order?

This crisis has already exposed many fallacies. For instance, why do thousands of people have to use thousands of private jets and thousands of SUV’s when teleconferencing would work just fine? The left faux-complains about how we were unprepared for this crisis; is supporting globalization preparing for such crises?

3/14 – Commie Bill DeBlasio: ‘This is a case for a nationalization of crucial factories and industries’

DeBlathero follows the “good for me, no for thee” principle.

As Pandemic Rages in New York City, Mayor’s Staff in Near Revolt Over His Response

Stupidity spreads this virus faster than anything else. I wonder, while all of industry is stepping forward to volunteer to help why nationalization would be a consideration? Ohhh…. communism. THAAAAT’S right.

3/14 – MICHIGAN SOCIALIST DEMOCRAT GOVERNOR GRETCHEN WHITMER CONSIDERING MARTIAL LAW OVER COVID-19

Police state advocates are salivating at the opportunity to enact a real police state. At least Schiff has shown them to proper way to conduct totalitarian-style court proceedings.

3/15 – Watch Feminazi Set Fellow Moonbat on Fire

Feel the burn? She throws like a girl.

Did I read that wrong, or are women twice as biased against women as men are? Is that sexist… or just nuts? (maybe that’s the wrong term to use, in this case). Maybe 28% of those questioned were Muslim men.

3/17 – Coronavirus Will Give President Trump His Biggest Win

The only fear is how effective the liberal media can be in getting people to believe their lies. Luckily, they have already damaged their own credibility enough so that even in the face of all liberal media blaming Trump for the virus and its effects, public approval of his handling of the crisis is positive. Hope.

Obama used the same strategy, using the economic crisis to push a green agenda (which coincidentally enriched many of his friends though the businesses collapsed). That focus merely helped to slow the recovery. Imagine right now when supplies are needed NOW and replenishment is almost constant if we didn’t have big trucks and diesel fuel. The global warming cult would be a disaster for the world.

3/19 – The Democrats Go Full Anti-Life

I, too, have an open mind on abortion. I don’t like it and I hate it as a form of birth control, but I am not a woman and won’t make that choice. There is NO excuse for a late term (past 20 weeks) abortion but for extreme medical crisis. It is against the law to stab someone, but we make an exception for a doctor performing surgery. The same is true for abortion; when medically necessary, it should be allowed.

3/20 – Justin Trudeau’s Canada Is Obama’s Dream for America

Well, Obama was elected because he was a gimmick; the “first black President”. I have no idea why Trudeau was elected.

He folded em RIP Kenny Rodgers who died of an increasing rare condition at 81, natural causes, at home.

Oh yeah Called Daughter and she said Her first 2 days working from home were less than productive. The lil Prince isnt used to not having Moms full attention, and lil Princess had to be taken to the Doctor for an ear infection, so was in no mood to entertain her sibling. My suggestion of locking one in a closet and the other in the dog kennel may be taken under advisement at a later date. Im sure everything will iron out about the time schools reopen.

@Brother Bob: Because… PAAAARRRRTTTEEEEE!!! Hookers and liquor on someone else’s nickel.

gretchen whitmer (she promised to fix the roads-still waiting) and trudeau are in the same category of the egocentric, narcissistic mindset of current country leadership. historically when one reads children’s book it opens with once upon a time. today the democraps open with “if I’m elected, I promise to do…” both trudeau and whitmer have no political background, snowflake leadership. want to make a wager that if both of these were on the titanic-both would be the first two in the life boats.

@Brother Bob: My daughter is working from home and lives next door. Son-in-law and kids can come over. Things aren’t totally shut down here; North Central Texas, out of Dallas. If it would ever stop raining long enough, I could divert my attention with mowing the yard.

And I have plenty of toilet paper, guns and ammunition. What else do you need?

@Deplorable Me:

What else do you need?

Coffee, I have enough beans in the Pantry.

@kitt: I have coffee. I’ve never used the internet grocery shopping app, but giving it a try. STILL can’t get cleaning supplies, though.

Still set for a couple of weeks, probably. It ain’t that hard.

@Deplorable Me: Look to some that most ignore, borax, pinesol, ammonia (you know not to mix with bleach) old fashioned but cheap.
It doesnt have to be name brand look at the active ingredients..
Just put some 3% hydrogen peroxide into a spray bottle. Spray it on and wipe it off as you would with other household cleaners. Hydrogen peroxide is generally anti-bacterial and anti-viral, so it makes sense to use it as a household cleaner. Allow all sanitizers 4 minutes before wiping away.
Vinegar too kills germs.

@kitt: My wife is watching Championship Cup Stacking on ESPN 8. I may have to shoot her.

@Deplorable Me: Just walk away do something like sort those nuts and bolts by size, when was the last time you reorganized your work bench or garage?
You cant mow but you could wash and wax the mower 😉

@Brother Bob:

I’ve stocked up on beer!

I hope you don’t have a case of Corona.

@Brother Bob: Its easy When the kids ask what you are doing in there tell them sorting socks!
The 2020 baby boom.
Remember guys you are doing this for your country!
Or you could crush the hunny do list, your choice.

@kitt: Hopefully they are smarter than the kids (who want to run the world) that went to the beaches and propagated the virus even more… or their parents that let them do it.

Wonder how living in the tool shed with a porta potty would grab them for 25 days?

From The Hill, March 22, 2020 – Fight over $500 billion corporate loan funding holds up coronavirus stimulus

Democratic leaders are objecting to an ambitious Republican proposal to spend up to $500 billion to leverage loans to a variety of industries, ranging from airlines and energy companies to car manufacturers, as part of a coronavirus stimulus package.

As a result of this and other disagreements, Democratic leaders say they don’t have a deal ahead of a key procedural vote at 3 p.m. Sunday to proceed to consideration of the package.

“From my standpoint, we’re apart,” Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said Sunday morning before walking into a meeting with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.).

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, who is pushing the massive infusion of cash to the Federal Reserve loan program, also attended the meeting in McConnell’s office.

Democrats say the corporate bailout fund falls short on several counts.

They argue that it doesn’t do enough to require companies to keep workers on payroll, urging them only to keep employees “to the extent possible,” which could result in mass layoffs after companies accept billions of dollars in taxpayer-guaranteed loans.

Democrats have countered with a proposal that corporate loans could be forgiven if major companies such as United Airlines, which has seen its market share plunge in recent weeks, retain more than 90 percent of their workers through the crisis.

They also are balking at the proposal’s weak restrictions on restricting corporate buybacks, which Mnuchin can waive.

U.S. airlines, for example, spent tens of billions of dollars in recent years on stock buybacks to boost their share prices. American Airlines alone spent $12.4 billion on stock buybacks since 2014.

The proposed loan program would give Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and the Federal Reserve broad discretion to hand out loans to industries that have been hit hard by the precipitous drop in economic activity.

Yep. That’s the rub, and it’s a big one. As it stands, the bill would essentially give Steve Mnuchin control over the disposition of half-a-trillion dollars of taxpayer money,
which will be piled directly on top of an already skyrocketing federal deficit, while simultaneously leaving the door open for corporate recipients to take that money and use it in ways that might not be to the benefit of their employees. Anyone should realize that’s just asking for a landslide of abuses.

The only justification for massive corporate bailouts is to keep working Americans employed.

@Greg: I guess it is preferred that when we come out of the other end of this crisis, no one has any jobs to go to. Maybe we can put Biden in charge of being “sheriff” over the stimulus. That worked just great in 2009…

Jealousy and envy aside, businesses are going to need help when people can go back to work or there will be no place to work. That is reality.

@Brother Bob: She also wanted a recovery program for her botox doctor. He’s going broke without her regular visits

@Greg: How horrible that America Airlines used their earnings to do what they wanted to do with them. They should have what? Expanded? Become an even bigger airline to bail out? They are a service industry, there are only so many airports.. There is no law they must offer stock. It is a win for the investors of their stock.

Stock Buyback: Why Do Companies Buy Back Their Own Stock? (You Must Know!)

I know the Prez knocked it but I simply do not agree.

@Brother Bob: But is it a global pandemic or just weather?

@Greg:

The only justification for massive corporate bailouts is to keep working Americans employed.

A few things:
1. Drawing an equivalency between our current crisis and the 2009 bailouts is partisan rhetoric.
2. The Democrats are now obstructing our economic recovery.
3. You forgot to include both Dems and Reps commitment to prevent stock buybacks.
4. The only justification for massive corporate bailouts is to keep working Americans employed…by keeping the businesses who employ them open and healthy, as part of a functional economy.

The Covid-19 is a natural disaster.

As it stands, the bill would essentially give Steve Mnuchin control over the disposition of half-a-trillion dollars of taxpayer money,

That’s a lie. Please run for Congress or the Senate, get a seat, then see how these things really are done. The people of the United States decide how these monies are distributed. That’s why it’s going through the Bicameral system. It’s not a decree by any one person, including Mnuchin.

I know the deficit was the only thing your employers have left to attack Trump over, but it’s irrelevant right now.

Whatever Bill is passed will have clear instructions on who, what, and how the money gets spent.

Who is your Representative? Are you calling/writing them to ensure they are representing you in the Washington well? What are they doing on the Bill?

This crisis has some silver linings, in that we get to eradicate the budding and tyrannical “4th Branch” of the government, the un-elected media and their disinformation operatives, who are in full panic mode over getting destroyed and called out, day after day, by a President who is not afraid of them.

@Nathan Blue, #26:

This crisis has some silver linings, in that we get to eradicate the budding and tyrannical “4th Branch” of the government, the un-elected media and their disinformation operatives, who are in full panic mode over getting destroyed and called out, day after day, by a President who is not afraid of them.

That would be the un-elected media that frightened our elected officials and quarreling populace into the drastic social distancing measures that will let us dodge an epidemiological bullet—if we’re lucky, and if we’ve done it in time. In a couple of weeks we’ll know. Until then, we’re still only guessing.

Owing to the lack of testing we really don’t know how widely the contagion has spread. Asymptomatic people haven’t been randomly tested. There’s not enough data for a reliable model. We do know that those who were infected early have turned up in every state. The virus is present on every continent.

@Greg:

That would be the un-elected media that frightened our elected officials and quarreling populace into the drastic social distancing measures that will let us dodge an epidemiological bullet—if we’re lucky, and if we’ve done it in time.

Are you claiming that the President, and various governors, would not have recommended “social” distancing if it were not for the main stream media? Are you really making that claim?

@retire05, #28:

They were sure taking a helluva long time about it, given that it was known what was probably coming and other countries recognized the need nearly two months ago. We were getting assurances from official sources that it would likely blow over and be no big deal. When the media or anyone else stated otherwise, they were accused of fear mongering and having ulterior motives.

February 3, 2020 – To fight coronavirus spread, the U.S. may expand ‘social distancing’ measures. But it comes at a cost

Pelosi shows up from her “shelter in palace” and destroys days of the Senate’s work just for the GODDAMN fun of it. She makes it absolutely clear she loves watching the markets crash and people struggle and panic… because she thinks she can use it politically.

@Greg:

Owing to the lack of testing we really don’t know how widely the contagion has spread.

How many do we have confirmed infected? 34,071 less than 10% of those tested actually have the virus. The testing thanks to our President does not have to all go to Atlanta and there was a new test just approved that will give results in 45 minutes.
State labs are not working a minute of overtime in WA a known hotspot. As reported by a Portland radio station.
Not a single democrat vote for pandemic bill, not fugging 1 so people still must pay out of pocket. Thanks Schumer the economy is crashing, Nancy porko Pelosi says they will craft a bill.

Faster methods of producing influenza vaccines will help keep Americans safer both from seasonal influenza, which kills tens of thousands of Americans each year, and from the potential of pandemic influenza, which is the single greatest biodefense threat our country faces.

4:39 PM – Sep 19, 2019

Can you read the dates, Comrade Greggie? Do you still want to make the claim that President Trump was behind the curve on this pandemic? Hell, you couldn’t even admit you were wrong about Woodrow Wilson and his handling of the Spanish Flu. I’m so sick of your left wing hatred. Crawl back in your hole and stay there.

You are nothing more than a slug who needs salt poured on you.

Can you read the dates, Comrade Greggie? Do you still want to make the claim that President Trump was behind the curve on this pandemic?

I can the read dates. But the dates don’t pertain to the coronavirus outbreak response, do they?

@Greg:

I can the read dates. But the dates don’t pertain to the coronavirus outbreak response, do they?

Those dates do crush the claim of all you left wing haters that Trump was not doing what he should have been which was a hellofa lot more than the previous administration did in 2009.

“Faster methods of producing influenza vaccines will help keep Americans safer both from seasonal influenza, which kills tens of thousands of Americans each year, and from the potential of pandemic influenza, which is the single greatest biodefense threat our country faces.”

What do you think potential pandemic influenza means?

Crawl away, slug. You have nothing to offer but hate and lies.

@Greg:

I can the read dates. But the dates don’t pertain to the coronavirus outbreak response, do they?

40K deaths per year of seasonal flu H1N1 still is killing.
You scream about debt but 2 trillion more wasnt enough in 1 bill for the Democrats.
Futures down again expect the circuit breaker at the exchange to trip again.
What else should Trump have done or should be doing?
The State governors and Mayors must get off their keesters and off the cable shows and do their jobs get the best people to procure the equipment they need. Stop pointing fingers and start hiring those with IQs above 70 even, heaven forbid, if they are white men.

@retire05, #34:

Trump’s September 19, 2019 executive order to modernize influenza vaccines allocated no funds whatsoever with which to do so. It was a piece of paper with some words written on it, which included those that follow:

“This order shall be implemented consistent with applicable law and subject to the availability of appropriations.”

Pure theater. Nothing more.

How to implement without money.

@Greg: No, that would be the lying propaganda arm of the Democrat party that tells the public to panic because Trump didn’t act quickly enough (he did), Trump doesn’t know what he is doing (he obviously does), Trump calls the disease a hoax (he never did), Trump takes the virus lightly (he absolutely doesn’t), Trump told states to fend for themselves (he never did) and Trump is lying all the time (which, of course, is a lie and comes from those lying all the time).

Pure theater. Nothing more.

How to implement without money.

What do you think the CDC does for a living? Preparing for epidemics IS THEIR FUNCTION. Just because someone says, “Prepare this way” doesn’t mean they need MORE money. It’s what they are supposed to be doing EVERY DAY.

@Deplorable Me: Greg has a knee jerk reaction to learn about the order. OMG there must be more money chucked at it.
The CDCs budget actually did go up. So thinking about it as a normal person would, my car is an old clunker, costing more to drive every year, slow and unreliable. I dont need a second job to pay for a new one, I use the money I am spending on the old clunker. Maybe no changes were made because that is the way of government ABC depts but now with this emergency with all eyes on them I bet they get er done.
Trumps daily briefing for Sunday really worth watching, the reporters got the numbers they were asking about.

@kitt: I can relate to Greg’s foolish argument directly. I imagine what would happen if my boss had come up and told me to prepare for changing the way we fabricated products to speed up the process and I told them I needed more budget hours to do it. No, THAT’S YOUR NORMAL JOB, to be thinking on and working on better and faster ways of doing YOUR JOB.

Liberals have NO idea how the real world works. They simply accept government agencies demanding more money and more people to compensate for failure as their work force gets lazier and lazier due to not being held accountable for their performance. Trump does not accept this culture; the cushy gravy train has ended its run.

@Deplorable Me, #39:

Trump does not accept this culture; the cushy gravy train has ended its run.

Which no doubt explains why Republicans would be content to put Stevie Mnuchin in charge of doling out corporate loan dollars from a half-a-trillion-dollar federal kettle.

Liberals have NO idea how the real world works.

Actually, they do. That’s why they insist on having a bit of pesky bureaucracy between extended corporate hands and the cash. They know what happens without it.

@Greg: Why WOULDN’T Mnuchin be in charge? Explain. We are talking LOANS here. Do you understand LOANS?

No, you DON’T have a damned clue about how the real world works. If you did, you wouldn’t be supporting Democrats who are absolutely DESTROYING this nation.

@Deplorable Me, #41:

Do you know nothing about Mnuchin’s history with hedge funds and WestOne? WestOne’s financial relationship with the FDIC and its highly profitable foreclosure abuses, which somehow never resulted in legal consequences, don’t instill much confidence that his primary concern is the well-being of the average American worker or family.

March 23, 2020 – Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick: ‘I’m all in’ on risking my health to lift social distancing guidelines for economic boost

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said Monday night that he’s “not living in fear” of the novel coronavirus pandemic and is “all in” on lifting social distancing guidelines recommended by public health experts in order to help the economy.

Patrick, who said he turns 70 next week, would be among the high-risk population that is most affected by the coronavirus. But he said people like him have to weigh the hazards to their personal health that the virus poses with the challenges to health of the American economy brought on by social distancing guidelines.

“No one reached out to me and said, ‘As a senior citizen, are you willing to take a chance on your survival in exchange for keeping the America that all America loves for your children and grandchildren?’ And if that is the exchange, I’m all in,” Patrick told Fox News.

He added, “My messages is that let’s get back to work, let’s get back to living. Let’s be smart about it and those of us who are 70 , we’ll take care of ourselves. But don’t sacrifice the country.”

No you won’t, you frickin’ idiot. You’ll wind up part of the tsunami of critically ill people that sweeps away our entire healthcare system, and that will profoundly affect everyone who needs medical care of any sort, regardless of age.

The suggestion directly contradicts recommendations put forth by government agencies and public health experts. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has been urging “social distancing” — defined as “remaining out of places where people meet or gather” and “avoiding local public transportation” — even if you don’t have any symptoms of the virus as a way to slow the spread of the disease. The CDC has recommended that no gatherings of 50 or more people take place for eight weeks and adults 65 and over stay home, if possible.

The CDC reports that 8 in 10 coronavirus deaths reported in the US are among adults 65 years old and older.

State health officials on Monday reported more than 100 coronavirus-related deaths in a single day for the first time since the outbreak, according to a tally from CNN Health, surpassing 500 total deaths nationwide.

Still, Patrick’s comments echo a growing desire among some Republicans — including President Donald Trump — to ease guidelines that have shuttered businesses and kept workers at home.

“Our country wasn’t built to be shut down. This is not a country that was built for this. It was not built to be shut down,” the President said during a Monday evening briefing at the White House, even as he acknowledged the effects of coronavirus are likely to worsen.

Reacting to Trump’s comments, Patrick said he talks to business people “all the time” and that his “heart is lifted tonight by what I heard the President say because we can do more than one thing at a time.”

One of every four people currently hospitalized in New York City with coronavirus infection is under age 50. Two of every four are under age 65.

@Greg: Dallas is a hot spot, closed down. Most of Texas is not. Watching the trends and then backing off of the tightest restrictions is not foolhardy. It is smart. This must be why you can’t understand it.

@Deplorable Me, #44:

Coronavirus cases in New York City are presently doubling every three days. Do people have difficulty grasping the implications of that sort of simple mathematical progression? If so, put one grain of rice on the first square of a chessboard, put two on the second square, four on the third square, eight on the fourth, sixteen on the fifth, and continue that process until insight comes. Or just do the arithmetic on a piece of paper. Let me know how far you get. This gives us a rough idea of what could happen.

This is no time to be instilling a false sense of security, or celebrating the bounce in the stock market that results. There are still hoards of people who are totally ignoring the need for social distancing.

Where’s Dr. Antony Fauci, all of a sudden? Sidelined because he wasn’t totally on board with Trump’s message?

@Greg: Has anyone mentioned ending sheltering in place in areas such as New York?

If you Democrats keep working towards disaster, you might just get your wish. Oh… did you get a load of the brilliance your presumed Democrat candidate for President of the United States issued today?

We have to take care of the cure. That will make the problem worse, no matter what. No matter what.

No need to misquote, ignore context or any other liberal tricks. Just what he said. I think he means that the Democrats need to destroy the cure because that will make his electoral chances worse. What say you?

@Deplorable Me, #46:

The virus is present in every state, not only in New York city. It’s just as contagious in one place as in another. The nation’s epicenters are those places where it arrived earliest.

I think he means that the Democrats need to destroy the cure because that will make his electoral chances worse. What say you?

I don’t think his electoral chances should be a consideration, any more than the current cash needs of his own family corporations should be a consideration in how stimulus loans are allocated.

@Greg: Has anyone mentioned a national ending of shelter in place?

How about that Biden? You’ve picked yourself a real winner there, Scooter.

@Greg:

No you won’t, you frickin’ idiot.

Gee, Comrade Greggie, have you not yet accepted that CNN doesn’t give news but only gives you opinion written by left wing radicals?

Shall we take a look at what Lt. Gov. Patrick really said that initiated his Tucker Carlson interview?

“I don’t pretend to be speaking for everyone 70 plus, but I think there are lots of grandparents who would agree with me that I want my grandchildren to live in the America I did. I want them to have a shot at the American dream. But right now this virus, what all the experts say that 98% of all people will survive, is killing our country in another way, it could bring about a total economic collapse and potentially collapse our society. So I say, let’s give this a few more days or weeks but after that, let’s go back to work and go back to living. Those that want to shelter in place can do so. But we can’t live with this uncertainty.”

So while you hunker down in your Hobbit hole, scared of your own shadow, some people understand that a prolonged shut down of the American economy will be a disaster worse than the Chi-Com virus. But hey, I’m sure that would be your wet dream. Then you could blame the current administration on the Great Depression Deux.

Coronavirus cases in New York City are presently doubling every three days.

Why is that, Comrade Greggie? Does it have anything to do with the fact that the Washington Post ran an article early on encouraging New Yorkers to attend the Chinese New celebration going on in NYC? Does it have anything to do with the fact that after “shelter in place” was issued for NYC, people were videotaped walking around NYC with friends and ignoring the instructions given by their state governor?

Stop misrepresenting what people say. It does no one any good. Go back to reading your CPUSA articles.

I think “Chi-Com virus” might be a tip off that the joker in your deck has Donald Trump’s face on it.
