Strictly enforcing the border law- another slick Trump action

There is a great amount of bleeding heartism going on right now regarding the border policy of separating children from their families. Even Laura Bush has joined the chorus.

In an unusual break from her political retirement, former first lady Laura Bush condemned the Trump administration’s practice of separating parents and children while their parents are prosecuted for illegally entering the country.

“I live in a border state. I appreciate the need to enforce and protect our international boundaries, but this zero-tolerance policy is cruel. It is immoral. And it breaks my heart,” she wrote in a Washington Post article published on Sunday.

As usual, this is an issue which is being misrepresented and thrust into the spotlight only because Trump is President and nothing else is sticking. The hysteria is rampant. Migrants are being separated for their own safety in areas divided by chain link fences which liberals refer to as “cages.”

It was obama’s “catch and release” program which fueled rising illegal immigration.

Border Patrol agents have seen their mission become more difficult over the past eight years, largely due to the Obama administration’s policy of releasing illegal immigrants apprehended at the border into the U.S., according to the leader of the Border Patrol agents’ union.
“The single biggest factor driving our illegal immigration right now is our catch and release program,” Brandon Judd, the president of the National Border Patrol Council, explained in written testimony prepared for a hearing Thursday before the Senate Judiciary Subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest.

When illegal immigrants are detained at or near the border, Border Patrol interviews them and, in many cases, must release them into the U.S. All the illegal immigrant must do, Judd wrote, is claim he or she has been in the U.S. since 2014, and agents release them.

“If you are an unaccompanied minor we will not only release you, but will escort you to your final destination. If you are a family unit, we will release you. If you claim credible fear, we will release you. If you are a single male and we do not physically see you cross the border and you claim that you have been in this country since 2014, we will release you,” he explained, adding that the illegal immigrants are not required to offer proof.

There is no sign of abatement. The number of illegals using children as the ruse for entry has skyrocketed:

The number of illegal aliens at the U.S.-Mexico border who are using minors to gain entry to the country has increased more than 300 percent since last year, White House officials say.
In a briefing to the media on Tuesday, White House officials — including President Trump’s senior adviser Stephen Miller — revealed that the number of illegal aliens using children to enter the U.S. at the southern border has increased about 315 percent between October 2017 and February 2018.

Through a series of legal loopholes, minors are smuggled through the southern border with illegal aliens posing as family units in order to eventually be released into the country through the “Catch and Release” program.

Catch and Release allows foreign nationals to be released into the U.S. while they await immigration and asylum hearings through these legal loopholes.

And at least 33% fail to show up at their hearings. ON one day in July 18 of 20 failed to show.

IMO failure to show for a court hearing should result in absolute forfeiture of remaining in the US and should lead to immediate deportation.  This shows a total lack of respect for US laws and we need no more of that.

The current hysterics distract from some inconvenient facts about what the obama regime was doing- keeping it quiet.

Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-TX) claimed in an interview Saturday that the Obama administration tried to cover up the number of unaccompanied minors crossing the United States’ southern border.
“It was kept very quiet under the Obama Administration. There were large numbers of people coming in. The Obama administration was trying to keep this quiet,” the Texas Democrat told CNN’s Fredricka Whitfield on Saturday.

According to data from the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agency, nearly 70,000 unaccompanied minors crossed the southern border in fiscal year (FY) 2014—the period between October 1, 2013, to September 30, 2014.

Cuellar’s comments come after the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) revealed Friday that nearly 2,000 children had been separated from their guardians at the U.S. border in the past six weeks. The agency revealed the number of children being separated as the Trump administration began its “zero tolerance” policy in prosecuting illegal aliens.

“We still see the numbers,” Cuellar said. “Not all of them are being separated. Some of them are coming alone.”

And in 2014 hillary clinton wanted all those unaccompanied minors sent back:

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that unaccompanied minors who crossed the border illegally in a massive influx over recent months “should be sent back” to their native countries, but also that they should be reunited with their families — which sometimes requires them to stay in the United States.

“They should be sent back as soon as it can be determined who responsible adults in their families are, because there are concerns about whether all of them should be sent back,” the potential 2016 presidential candidate said in an interview with CNN’s Christiane Amanpour. “But I think all of them who can be should be reunited with their families.”

Who was it that separated all those kids from their families? That was so way back before Trump was President. No one cared because obama. Ironically, the obama regime separated kids from their families too:

The Trump administration has an intentional and explicit policy of separating migrant children from their families if caught crossing the U.S.-Mexico border without permission. Long before that, however, the administration of Barack Obama ramped up a program with largely the same effect.

Since 2008, the United States has had a policy known as the Alien Transfer Exit Program (ATEP), or Lateral Repatriation. This program focuses on detaining male migrants of Mexican descent.

Here’s how it works: Once an immigrant is caught attempting to cross the border without documentation, they are detained, flown or bussed across the United States and then shown the exit at another segment of the U.S.-Mexico border–thousands of miles from their original point of entry.

And when it didn’t do that, the obama regime was handing kids over to human traffickers:

The Obama administration failed to protect thousands of Central American children who have flooded across the U.S. border since 2011, leaving them vulnerable to traffickers and to abuses at the hands of government-approved caretakers, a Senate investigation has found.

The Office of Refugee Resettlement, an agency of the Department of Health and Human Services, failed to do proper background checks of adults who claimed the children, allowed sponsors to take custody of multiple unrelated children, and regularly placed children in homes without visiting the locations, according to a 56-page investigative report released Thursday.

And once the children left federally funded shelters, the report said, the agency permitted their adult sponsors to prevent caseworkers from providing them post-release services.

Sen. Rob Portman (R-Ohio) initiated the six-month investigation after several Guatemalan teens were found in a dilapidated trailer park near Marion, Ohio, where they were being held captive by traffickers and forced to work at a local egg farm. The boys were among more than 125,000 unaccompanied minors who have surged into the United States since 2011, fleeing violence and unrest in Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador.

Then we have another basic fact:

What are we to do when an MS 13 gang member ‘borrows” a 1 year old to gain entry to the country?

Certain issues- like homelessness and immigration- become hot topics only when a Republican is President. This is one such example. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen said this morning if you want to enter the country, then go to a port of entry and do it legally. If not, you have no respect for our laws and we don’t want you here. But there’s more to this story.

Knowing Trump, I think this is one more slick move. He wants comprehensive immigration reform- including the wall- and he’s going to keep this pedal to the floor until he gets it. Once again, chess to his critics’ checkers.

BONUS: Who said it?

“I think all of them who can be reunited with their families should be…but we’ve got to send a clear message that just because your child gets across the border that doesn’t mean your child gets to stay. We don’t want to send a message that is contrary to our laws and encourages them to make the dangerous journey.”

The Democrats oppose a Border Fence because it would keep out protential Democrat voters and fewer democrats to vote other democrats into office

Manufactured faux rage, AMERICA what shall we be outraged at today? They are not separating the President and his supporters, they are galvanizing the support with the goofy antics.
Democrats in congress PLEASE help us save the kiddies, come across the aisle and add you voices and votes.
No? WHY
Hows that going to play with the voters, this has gone on for long before Trump, Obama kept them in kennel looking cages no cots those pics went viral. Even the Nazis concentration camps had beds, you bastids, do your jobs.

There is no sign of abatement. The number of illegals using children as the ruse for entry has skyrocketed.

Bullshit. The percentage might have increased, but they’re not telling you a damn thing about the total numbers, are they?

If there was one documented case before, and there have now been three, there’s been a 300 percent increase. That doesn’t mean the numbers have skyrocketed.

This is the sort of deceptive b.s. the right is spoon fed on a daily basis. Trump’s policy is taking children away from their mothers, not “chits.” And it isn’t just “enforcement of a democrat law.” That would be a damnable lie. It’s a Trump administration policy that has resulted in the forcible separation of nearly 2,000 children from their parents over a 6 week period.

In 2014, when Obama was encouraging minors to cross the border, his shelters for them lacked even enough showers for one shower per person every 10 days!
As to their diets, think Michelle’s stupid school lunch program.
The children threw out the veggie burritos and complained the eggs were cold.

The diet was “balanced” but not designed for a bland beans-&-rice-eating child.
Do we hear even a complaint about food from children these days?
Not that I’ve heard.
Each child gets hygiene training.
There are plenty of showers and soap.
IF the parents had qualified for asylum they could have come to a “point of legal entry,” and been admitted.
This whole thing is a ploy because “Russia, Russia, Russia,'” has failed.
Think it thru to its logical conclusion:
If the cruelty is in separating parents from children, ALL our prisons will have to be re-engineered to admit whole families.
BTW, Israel gives convicted Palestinian parents options: They serve their prison time while their children stay with relatives back home OR they keep their children in Israeli prisons with themselves.
A vast majority keep their children in prison in Israel where the food is better, the schools are better, the housing (yes, in prison) is better and the children will be treated better than by relatives.
So, are we really going to go that route?

The Democrats have been trying to divide America for years the Dirty Democrats need divided

It is only the criminal parents fault that they get separated from their children.
Don’t break our laws – Don’t get separated from your children.

This is the result when the main goal is getting the illegal immigrants out into the country. They dont care what the hell happens to them; the media wouldn’t hold them to account.

This “cruel and inhumane” treatment has been the law for over a decade. It was made worse in order to assure the catch and release process was kept flowing.

However, these officials take an oath to uphold the laws. Compassionately breaking the law is NOT an option. Democrats need to stop impeding the process.

No one knows if those children are even the actual children of the adults with them. This could just be a way to traffic kids.

Coincidentally, this became a major issue for the dems and the MSM today, the day the IG testified before the Senate about his devastating report from last Thursday. I’m not trying to say they needed to deflect attention or anything like that.

Theres plenty of Mothers of kids killed by Illegal Aliens(Future Democratic Voters)who will oppose Open Borders the Dream Act

@Greg: .

It’s a Trump administration policy

And is that policy based on any law? Maybe a GW Bush law, which was first enforced by obozo. So the Dims passed a law, put it into effect, started separating kids and parents and ‘it’s the Republicans fault’ Can’t beat that Dumbocrap logic. Greg, if you walked up to a border with your child and they told you that only one of you would be let in, the other would not, that you would actually be separated. Would you abandon your child or your plan to cross the border illegally? Which would it be. Why are all these people willing to give their children away?

@Spurwing Plover, #5:

The Democrats have been trying to divide America for years the Dirty Democrats need divided

Opinions vary.

@Redteam, #11:

Specifically what law passed by democrats do you believe Trump is only enforcing?

You can’t answer that, nor can Donald Trump or any of his administration flunkies, because there IS NO LAW requiring the separation of undocumented parents from their children. It’s a policy they’re struggling to rationalize, which is actually motivated by a desire to use the psychological trauma of having one’s children taken away as a deterrent. Apparently they don’t care that utterly blameless children are the most traumatized of all.

The twisted legal logic behind Trump’s decision to separate immigrant children from parents

@Greg: the law signed in 1996 and became fully effective April 1997 signed by President Bill Clinton IIRIRA. Flores Consent Decree from 1997. It says that unaccompanied children can be held only 20 days. A ruling by the Ninth Circuit extended this 20-day limit to children who come as part of family units. So even if we want to hold a family unit together, we are forbidden from doing so. You know the 9th circuit that over rules presidential executive orders. Courts make many unconstitutional laws, they determine gays can marry, murder of unborn children is legal , they change the meaning of words in laws, from state to federal, even when congress insists something is not a tax, they determine it is a tax. Please call your representatives Democrats demand they quickly help resolve this crisis, its for the children.

@kitt: Democrats are running out of issues to try to destroy Trump! The ignorant has jumped on the band wagon and Greg is one of their poster boys.

After seeing this photo bandied about at least ten times by bleeding hearts’ it was heart-warming to learn the child was a prop by his own parents in a demonstration in Dallas Texas June 10th.

His family belongs to the Texas chapter of the Brown Berets de Cemanahuac.
All Brown Berets are leftist orgs calling for taking back the southwest for Mexico.
Gee.
I wonder where they’d run away to if that happened!?

@Greg:

you are such a democrat whore. if you had a brain, you could have been the scarecrow along with the cowardly lion.

@kitt:

Typical Trumpian bullshit. The Flores Consent Decree didn’t provide authority to the government to hold undocumented minor children; rather, it constrained them from doing so for a period of more than 20 days. The point of the lawsuit that was settled with the Flores Consent Decree was to set a maximum limit—to rein the government in. That wasn’t being argued for in the context of an unprioritized, zero tolerance, 100 percent prosecution policy, either—a policy which essentially empowers immigration authorities to separate children from their mothers in a very deliberate and purposeful manner, in order to use the anguish it causes as a deterrent.

The facts about Trump’s policy of separating families at the border

The Trump administration implemented this policy by choice and could end it by choice. No law or court ruling mandates family separations. In fact, during its first 15 months, the Trump administration released nearly 100,000 immigrants who were apprehended at the U.S.-Mexico border, a total that includes more than 37,500 unaccompanied minors and more than 61,000 family members.

Children continue to be released to their relatives or to shelters. But since the zero-tolerance policy took effect, parents as a rule are being prosecuted. Any conviction in those proceedings would be grounds for deportation.

We’ve published two fact-checks about family separations, but it turns out these Trumpian claims have a zombie quality and keep popping up in new ways.

In the latest iteration, Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen tweeted and then said at a White House briefing that the administration does not have “a policy of separating families at the border.” This is Orwellian stuff. Granted, the administration has not written regulations or policy documents that advertise, “Hey, we’re going to separate families.” But that’s the inevitable consequence, as Nielsen and other Trump administration officials acknowledge.

“Operationally what that means is we will have to separate your family,” Nielsen told NPR in May. “That’s no different than what we do every day in every part of the United States when an adult of a family commits a crime. If you as a parent break into a house, you will be incarcerated by police and thereby separated from your family. We’re doing the same thing at the border.”

No, it does not mean they have to separate families. That’s the conclusion they wanted to reach. They only got there by way of their own moronically unsustainable and appallingly inhumane policy of 100 percent prosecution without prioritization.

This is what OWS posted on their Twitter feed today:

Antifa has also stepped up their threats against ICE.

The democrats and the MSM fawned over both of these groups. Don’t expect any leftist to come here and denounce either group. That’s the type of people we are dealing with.

@Redteam: Funny how the left is so concerned about the children they haven’t aborted.

HHS has a large number of these children and the bulk of them did not come here with their parents. They were separated when they left their socialist paradise by choice. But no cameras were there to record the crying.
Yet everyday children cry when a parent is sent to prison for a crime the adult committed and they are separated or an illegal alien kills an American who has a child. No CNN no NPR no Democrat is there to exploit for political purposes. I guess these children don’t matter as much.
History can sure be interesting.

Trump’s campaign manager says Trump should fire Jeff Sessions and end Mueller investigation

Maybe he’s thinking with everyone’s attention on toddlers in cages, nobody would notice? (Hyperbole, of course. They’re not really in dog kennels or anything. They’re just being forcibly taken from their mothers and confined in strange surroundings with complete strangers, with no understanding of why, or of when they might be together again.)

Brad Parscale — who was the digital director for Trump’s 2016 campaign and is in charge of the reelection bid — wrote that because of the recent inspector general report, Trump should “end it all.”

He’s got a way with words, hasn’t he? He might want to begin working on his resume.

The Inspector General’s responses at the Senate Hearing yesterday made it perfectly clear that the report did not exonerate the President. That issue wasn’t addressed by the IG inquiry or mentioned in the report.

@Mully:

agree, there are photographs and video footage

June 19, 2018 — U.S. Announces Its Withdrawal From U.N. Human Rights Council

“I want to make it crystal clear that this step is not a retreat from human rights commitments,” Haley told the media. “On the contrary, we take this step because our commitment does not allow us to remain a part of a hypocritical and self-serving organization that makes a mockery of human rights.”

Yeah, right. We’re all about human rights now, aren’t we? Those of toddlers taken from their mothers, of undocumented young adults who have never known another homeland, of football players quietly protesting police violence, of Palestinian villagers whose homes were bulldozed by the IDF… Our withdrawal from the Human Rights Council is just one more indication that America’s anchor chain has been broken, and the ship is morally adrift. Soon we will no longer recognize ourselves.

@Randy: Nothing is sticking its all they have, we just need to beg them to help fix the former mistakes they made when they cared about unions and the middle class workers in the 90s.

Trump throws a wrench into House GOP immigration plans as he says he’ll ‘make changes’ to bills

“We have a House that’s getting ready to finalize an immigration package that they’re going to brief me on later and that I’m going to make changes to,” the president said at an event for small business association the National Federation of Independent Business. “We have one chance to get it right. We might as well get it right or let’s just keep it going.”

I’m not entirely sure there’s a Constitutional provision allowing that.

@Greg: How many times did Obama change AHCA deadlines?

As I recall, they extended the enrollment deadline by a day on December 23, 2013, as the high volume of last-day enrollments exceeded the system’s ability to handle all the online traffic.

Are we comparing the effects of administrative policy changes? From The New Yorker, today:

In ICE Detention, a Honduran Woman Fears Deportation Without Her Son

On May 5th, just after midnight, a Honduran woman named Ana Rivera and her five-year-old son, Jairo, tried to cross the U.S.-Mexico border. They were caught scaling a fence in El Paso, and spent the night in a holding cell at a U.S. Border Patrol station with other mothers and children, a group of about twenty-five people in all. On the afternoon of their second day in detention, two male agents entered the cell. “They didn’t say anything,” Rivera told me. “They just walked over and grabbed Jairo. It felt like my son was stuck to me. He clung to me, cried and screamed. They had to pull him away.” She pleaded with the agents to tell her what was going on. The other women in the cell were too stunned to speak, Rivera told me. In the next few hours, the agents started taking other children, too. Eventually, the mothers were told that they would be reunited with their children after spending a few days in jail.

Nearly six weeks later, Rivera has not seen her son. Shortly after the Border Patrol agents took Jairo, she signed a voluntary-departure order, which fast-tracked her for deportation. She’d been confused, she told me, and thought that signing would allow her to see her son sooner. Instead, she was charged with illegal entry, held for a few days in criminal custody, in New Mexico, and then was sent to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ice) center back in Texas. On Monday, I visited her in a small, unfurnished room with white cinderblock walls at the ice Processing Center, in El Paso, where she’s now waiting to be deported.

Rivera, who is thirty-seven, wore a standard-issue orange jumpsuit and sneakers without laces. She seemed dazed. The day before her son was taken, she had been informed, after a mandatory physical, that she was two months pregnant. She’s been taking vitamin pills each day, courtesy of ice. “I don’t care if they deport me,” she said. “What hurts me is my son. I need to be with him.”

During the first twelve days that she spent in federal custody, Rivera had no idea where her son was. She stopped eating, could barely sleep, and cried constantly. “The stress was too much,” she told me. No one could give her any information about her child, and she didn’t have a lawyer to help her press the point. By the time that she arrived at the ice facility, on May 18th, she’d become so upset that she had trouble speaking…

This isn’t how we’re supposed to do things. I don’t believe most Americans will find it acceptable.

@Greg: They were caught scaling a fence in El Paso, hardly acceptable behavior . 18 foot high fence that is a fall that could kill that kid, take him away, that is child endangerment, for both the 5 year old and what she hoped was her anchor baby born on tax payer dime.
I really like the trolling name, borrow a little liberal language Zero Tolerance.

Toddlers Separated From Parents at the Border Are Being Detained in ‘Tender Age’ Shelters

As children are separated from their families, law enforcement agents reclassify them from members of family units to “unaccompanied alien children.” Federal officials said Tuesday that since May, they have separated 2,342 children from their families, rendering them unaccompanied minors in the government’s care.

Do you understand what that means? They weren’t unaccompanied minors until the zero tolerance policy turned them into that.

The became unaccompanied when they were taken from their families.

@kitt: This will all die down shortly. The main objective in the left’s latest tantrum was to divert attention away from the highly damaging IG report and the damaging testimony of Horowitz before the Senate and House committees the last two days. These “kids” are simply a means to an end for the left, in this case to cover for the latest damning developments in Obamagate.

Trump says he would back both U.S. House immigration bills as separation crisis grows

Both Republican bills under discussion, which have been blasted by Democrats and immigration advocacy groups, would fund the border wall and reduce legal migration, in part by denying visas for some relatives of U.S. residents and citizens who are living abroad, sometimes referred to as “chain migration.”

The more conservative bill from Representative Bob Goodlatte would also deny “Dreamers,” immigrants brought illegally to the United States as children, the chance of future citizenship.

Yeah. That’s going to fly.

@another vet: The left is only concerned with bashing Trump because the FBI wasn’t successful in getting Hillary elected. They had it in the bag and let it slip away. Funny how the voters just didn’t buy their sh!t.

@Greg:

the William Wilberforce Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2008, which requires formal deportation hearings for child immigrants who aren’t from Mexico or Canada and don’t have family in the United States.

That’s the law that has been in place since 2008. While we’re at it, why don’t you bleeding hearts stop murdering milllions of children each year?

@Redteam, #36:

But these children have family in the United States, don’t they? They have the mothers that Trump’s policy has forcibly taken them away from, before sending them to separate detention facilities. They’re not trafficking victims. They didn’t arrive here as unaccompanied children. A new Trump administration policy made them into that.

What do you think? Is she faking?

I think not. I think she’s just very much aware that she’s reporting about children, not “chits.”

@Greg: There is no one more fake than Wretched Madcow, where was her concern when Obama had kids in kennels? Why isnt she begging the Democrats we only need a few for 60 votes to assist with a solution, why does Shummer say they will NOT join the cause?
Trump is trying to stop an illegal invasion of our country, they are not from a US territory and have no right to scale fences with or without babies. DEMOCRATS DONT CARE so quit with your faux crapola.
NO OPEN BORDERS.

Trump will never get his 60 votes until he backs off on the bullshit. He should accept rational compromises while he’s still in a position to get them.

Does he want his damn wall? Then he should accept a path to citizenship for the Dreamers. Not penalizing them for decisions that they themselves didn’t make is a simple matter of compassion and justice.

‘NO ONE CARES” APPARENTLY TRUMP DOES

Trump made a mistake and corrected it–There is some hope—bigger problem with the Trumpeteers

@rich wheeler: Who are you and what have you done with Rich?

@rich wheeler: Slick and Obozo made the error, Trump made the changes that you refer to as a correction.

@Greg:

Then he should accept a path to citizenship for the Dreamers.

why should we have a path to citizenship for illegal aliens?

@Greg: 37

But these children have family in the United States, don’t they?

Not legally.

They didn’t arrive here as unaccompanied children. A new Trump administration policy made them into that.

the only ones listed as ‘unaccompanied’ are the ones that are ‘unacompanied’. That’s not Trumps policy, it’s from Slick’s term.

So now that Trump did something, now the Whining is that now the whole family will be detained (but not separated) I need to get into the ‘selling crying towels to Dimocraps’ I’d make a fortune. Yes, I realize I’ll need to get them qualified as legal for food stamps.
