The above is a quote from Lucy, a 32 year old female whose parents were on welfare and now she is on welfare and loves it. She intends to stay this way and pass it on to her kids.
It’s ironic isn’t it? She receives $1,250 a month from the “fools” who actually earn a living and is actually taking home more than the fast food working making a little under 9 bucks an hour minimum wage. She sits on her ass all day while the other works their ass off.
Sad….
This is the welfare state and will lead us to our demise sooner or later.

The woman who called in was probably white. She was just so indoctrinated into believing that she was owed something by the rest of us that she had absolutely no sense of guilt. Her attitude was “Why not? It’s there for the taking.”
There was a time when a woman who could not support their children, lost them. The children were raised in orphanages. Now we think it is cruel to take someone’s kids away from them if they can’t support those children. Frankly, I think having kids you can’t afford is a form of child abuse and should be prosecuted as such.

To begin with, if you listen to her response when asked about her husband, I doubt that she has one. She called the radio station to brag how she was raking the taxpayer over the coals, not admit she’s a slut with three kids and no baby daddy.
Secondly, this was in Austin. The SNAP benefit for an unemployed woman with three kids would be $632/month, not $400.00. It goes up to $750/mo with a husband. The family would also get TANF of $333/mo for her and three kids. $396/mo if there is five of them. All dumped on the Lone Star Card, which complies with federal guidelines, and she can use the TANF money to buy damn TVs if she wants to. (furniture is included in “acceptable” expenses) Her Obamaphone is free and her utilities are subsidized. She pays $50/month in rent which tells me she is living in Section 8 housing. Section 8 housing for her with 3 kids would be a 3 bedroom, 1 1/2-2 bath apartment or house.
So this woman is knocking down almost two grand a month in free money and in-kind contributions and all you can say is she’s white trash?
Maybe you wouldn’t and I darn sure would not, but if you think this woman is the exception, and not the rule with a lot of the leech class, you’re only fooling yourself.
Oh, they’ll get an education, at least until they are 16 and drop out. People like her, Democrat voters, don’t care if their kids follow in their foot steps. She was pretty clear about that, wasn’t she?
She should have her children removed from her, pronto. What she is doing, her choices, is a form of child abuse. But then, lefties like you would be shouting to the roof tops that taking her children away from her is cruel and bigoted. You’d rather watch the cycle repeat itself.
@retire05: The beauty of education is the cycle does not have to repeat itself, and often it does not. If she doesn’t care for children they will be removed to foster care. I think she would prefer a better life for her children. She’s probably in the 50% of Americans who don’t bother to vote.

The welfare class which is represented by this woman will vote for whatever party keeps the goodies coming. The guy who runs on cutting will never get her vote. That usually means they vote dem, but not always as the obamaphone was started under gwb but no one calls it the bush phone. A feeble attempt to curry favor from the welfare class. It never works for repubs, they should stop trying the freebee route.
She and her ilk are obviously comfortable enough to live this way and have her children follow in her footsteps. I believe the solution to all of this is to make it uncomfortable to live this way and show a path out of it, not more benefits to continue.
A good friend of mine runs a business and he says from his experience hiring people he believes we are losing our work ethic. This woman helps prove his point. She’s at the point of bragging about getting the fruits of other peoples labor. She didn’t sound grateful to me for the benefits or acted like her situation was temporary. The more of this we create the worse it will one day get for all of us.
She’s getting a little bit more then I am in Social Security, and I paid into SS all of my working life. One problem is that the different welfare agencies aren’t connect, so they don’t know how much a person is getting from the others.
The biggest welfare recipients are the members of congress. Look at all of the pork barrel spending they vote on themselves. Wouldn’t you like to be able to vote yourself some extra spending money?

Your friend is correct Mully. In my job as a field service technician, I travel to various job sites and customer locations all the time, I hear the same thing from supervisors quite often. In a past job I often had a crew to run; out of six guys, I could count on at least one quitting the first day or two. Yeah, the job was pretty hard, the hours pretty long but the pay was pretty good. Good workers, who stick around, show up on time and do what they are supposed to do are probably under ten out of hundred. The saying has never been more true, “good help is hard to find.”

Many years ago, I read of a welfare agency that I forget where it was, but they had a policy that when you applied for welfare, you picked from the list of jobs available, or you didn’t get welfare. The recipients figured that if they had to WORK for their welfare check, they were going to get a better job than the one they had, and they got off welfare.
The welfare workers saw that if it kept going like this, they were going to lose their jobs, so they sued, saying the welfare recipients can’t be forced to WORK for their welfare checks, and they won. Hooray for a legal system that puts a welfare recipient ahead of the average worker. Where would the USA be without our precious welfare recipients?

The point of the post isn’t what percentage of Americans would be satisfied with $400, $600, or even $1300 a month to do nothing. The point is there are people out there that are satisfied with doing nothing for that. Another point of the post is this:
This is a generational problem. No matter what schools teach, a child’s primary education comes from the parents. Morals, ethics, behavior, all come from the parents first. Lucy appears to have been taught that education doesn’t matter, hard work doesn’t matter, the State will take care of you. And that is a problem.

As to the “50%” who don’t bother to vote; that is not the case in Austin, Texas, where voter activity is around 61%. Austin went for Obama 60.14%/39.86%. As to her not taking care of her children, she’s NOT taking care of her children. Taxpayers are. Being abusive is a totally different issue although I consider having children you can’t afford to feed as abusive not only to the children, but to her fellow Americans who are taxpayers.
The subject is not that “some people choose to live like Lucy”, the subject is that some people choose to live like Lucy while we productive citizens pay for it and have no other choice but to pay for it via the power of the IRS.

Add in WIC for all children under 5, Medicaid for her and her children, Obamaphone, free breakfast and lunch for her school aged children even during the summer school break, and pretty soon the numbers are reaching cash/in-kind payments of close to $26,000/year. She, or her useless husband, would have to make over $12.00/hr to break even. Why should she work when we (our government) makes it so easy for her to lay on her ass visiting friends and smoking dope?
The forced charity to others by stealing the income of productive citizens is exactly what creates people like Lucy. She has been raised by a mother that obviously felt no shame in living off the dole, consequently she doesn’t either, and neither will her children since she can’t teach them what she doesn’t believe in (shame of being a loser living off the dole). Let’s face it, LBJ’s Great Society is an abstract failure and has only made the problem worse, not better.
That kind of ambition went out when Democrats decided we should redistribute the wealth of productive citizens.
She had the option of an abortion if she couldn’t support her children. But having an abortion doesn’t allow her to rake in almost $26,000/yr without having to life a finger to earn it, now does it?

Not only that but if you get food stamps, only certain foods are approved for you to get (no soda, potato chips, sugar laden cereals, steak, lobster, etc), if you live in public housing, you are required to do something to cover the cost of your rent like picking up the trash, yard work, raking leaves, painting the units when someone moves out, answering the phones in the office, etc. Drug/alcohol testing should be mandatory. Smoking causes you to lose benefits.

How about a flat tax? You pay a certain percentage of your income, no matter what it is. And no exemptions for anything, not kids, not mortgage interest, nada. If you made $10,000.00 a year or $10 million a year, pay a simple flat tax of say 5% and be done with it. Progressive tax rates are nothing more than Marxist philosophy anyway.

I do not believe in letting children go hungry, but adults, that’s another story. Why should I have to pay the taxes to put people on welfare? If they are capable of working, they should, no matter how menial the job. And they should not benefit from their children’s plight.
People who get hungry will work any job just to buy some food. And being able to take care of yourself brings self respect and ambition to do even better. We are destroying ambition in people and making them willing to accept any handout just so long as they don’t have to work for it.

Are you out of your mind? I’m retired, over 50K a year and pay $6828 for my medicare. But even if you’re just talking about premiums for medicare that you pay on 50K prior to retirement, it is 1.45% of 50K =$725. Why don’t you check things out before you post them?

farming was one, he died so young , leaving his woman , my mother,who had to work,

I wish the USA would switch to the Fair Tax. It takes care of the welfare problem. Someone came up with the stupidest idea I have ever heard of to solve the welfare problem, but it makes sense after you think it through. Whatever the poverty level is, it is divided by 12, and EVERY US citizen will get a check for that amount each month.
Everybody gets a check. This way, the poor are taken care of, but they can still earn as much as they want. There is now an incentive for them to earn as much as they want, and not lose their regular check. How many other welfare systems allow the recipients to earn as much as they can?

I wouldn’t have a problem with insurance companies being allowed to set rates based on a person’s life style. A person who maintains the correct weight, exercises regularly, doesn’t smoke, drink, or do drugs, should get a lower rate than those who do everything they shouldn’t. Why should the ones who take care of themselves pay for the medical care of those who don’t? Seeing their insurance rate go up should give them an incentive to try to be healthier.

What is the point in that? The government has to take it from you first to be able to send it back to you.
We worry so much about taking care of the “poor”. So who in America is really “poor”? Poor is living in a mud hut with not enough to eat and no way to get medical care for your children. You want to see poor? Go to any third world country. Poor is not having a car, flat screen TV, cell phone, microwave, central heat and air.
But no one ever asks “Why are they poor?” by U.S. standards? What prevented the “poor” from getting job, working their way up the ladder (even Wal-Mart promotes from within) and making their lives better. The answer is simple in 90% of the cases; themselves.
No deductions, no exemptions. Just a certain percentage of your wages, no matter how little or how large. Of course, there would be a lot of tax lawyers and CPAs put out a job.
Think about Lucy, the subject of this thread: she is earning, in in-kind contributions, roughly $26,000/yr and doesn’t pay a dime in tax. Not one. She has no skin in the game. She doesn’t care how much you are taxed. She only cares that she gets that money. If she had to budget to come up with $1,300 in taxes, she might think twice about voting for someone that just promises her more free stuff.

Please explain how the Fair Tax hits the seniors and low income people the hardest. I’m guessing that you haven’t read the book or gone to their web site and read up on it. If the Fair Tax is enacted, the prices people will pay for items will be the same as they were before it was enacted.
With a flat tax you still have the IRS and its bureaucracy, and you still have to fill out the federal income tax forms. The people working for cash still don’t pay any taxes, and everybody is still trying not to pay any more than they have to. With the Fair Tax, EVERYBODY pays their federal taxes when they buy something. One of the best advantages of this is you see how much you paid in taxes on each receipt. The way it is now, we don’t know how much we are paying in federal taxes.
The rich who are not paying taxes now will pay their fair share, because they buy higher priced stuff, so they will pay a higher amount in federal sales taxes.
I encourage everybody to read the book. You can go to their web sight, but they have the info broken up into segments that you have to go back and forth to.

This is one of the steps taken by those who later became dictators. Look at all the other things that are going on that happened in other countries that are now dictatorships:
(1) Take away their guns.
(2) Lead then away from Christianity.
(3) Reduce the military.
(4) Form a civilian security force.
(5) Etc., etc., etc.
