Barack Obama’s 2012 campaign: a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing [Reader Post]

About Joseph Goebbels

Goebbels knew the power of controlling what people thought. Those that did not had to face the secret police. Those who were taken in by Goebbels were enthralled by colour film – rarely seen being used by politicians elsewhere as it was considered too unreliable. Films such as “The Eternal Jew” ( a black and white film) hammered home the anti-Semitic message of the party; “Triumph of the Will” portrayed the might of Hitler and Germany. The displays at Nuremburg – done in partnership with Albert Speer – are significant achievements even by today’s standards of size and complexities of organisation.

Barack Obama has a sketchy history with regard to elections and lying about his opponents is not a new tactic.

In 1995 he pounded Alice Palmer and drive her from a a race for the Illinois State Senate

In his first race for office, seeking a state Senate seat on Chicago’s gritty South Side in 1996, Obama effectively used election rules to eliminate his Democratic competition.

As a community organizer, he had helped register thousands of voters. But when it came time to run for office, he employed Chicago rules to invalidate the voting petition signatures of three of his challengers.

The move denied each of them, including incumbent Alice Palmer, a longtime Chicago activist, a place on the ballot. It cleared the way for Obama to run unopposed on the Democratic ticket in a heavily Democrat district.

“That was Chicago politics,” said John Kass, a veteran Chicago Tribune columnist. “Knock out your opposition, challenge their petitions, destroy your enemy, right? It is how Barack Obama destroyed his enemies back in 1996 that conflicts with his message today. He may have gotten his start registering thousands of voters. But in that first race, he made sure voters had just one choice.”

He had disinformation about Hillary Clinton distributed in 2008:

With Ohio Gov. Ted Strickland nodding in agreement behind her, Clinton accused Obama of emulating the tactics of Karl Rove, President Bush’s former political director who is reviled by Democrats.

Obama “is continuing to send false and discredited mailings with information that is not true to the voters of Ohio,” Clinton said. Watch Clinton demand a ‘real campaign’

One mailing says her health care proposal would force everyone to buy health insurance, regardless of ability to pay, a charge Clinton vehemently denied.

“Sen. Obama knows it is not true that my plan forces people to buy insurance even if they can’t afford it,” she said.

His treatment of Mitt Romney is worthy of Joseph Goebbels:

“If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. The lie can be maintained only for such time as the State can shield the people from the political, economic and/or military consequences of the lie. It thus becomes vitally important for the State to use all of its powers to repress dissent, for the truth is the mortal enemy of the lie, and thus by extension, the truth is the greatest enemy of the State.”

And if Obama couldn’t lie, he’d have little to say.

Obama has gone to great lengths making the legal appear to be unseemly.

WASHINGTON — Hammering Mitt Romney for his tax havens and offshore bank accounts is pure political “gold” in the swing state of Ohio, a Democratic congressman who represents the state said Wednesday.

Rep. Tim Ryan said highlighting the way that Romney’s private equity company Bain Capital drove American jobs overseas, as well as the fact that he has a Swiss bank account and accounts on tropical islands, is killing the GOP hopeful with rustbelt voters.

The man who spends limitless hours with George Clooney and the Hollywood elite claims Mitt Romney is out of touch.

Then Obama began to accuse Romney of being a pioneer of outsourcing.:

“Governor Romney’s experience has been in owning companies that were called ‘pioneers of outsourcing’ – that’s not my phrase – ‘pioneers of outsourcing,'” Mr. Obama told the crowd. “My experience has been in saving the American auto industry.

In his first campaign event since the Supreme Court’s decision a week ago to uphold his health care law, Mr. Obama also defended his sweeping changes to the system: “The law I passed is here to stay,” he said. “It is going to make the vast majority of Americans more secure.”

Obama’s ad about the alleged Romney outsourcing was awarded the 4 Pinocchio maximum by the Washington Post.

The Obama campaign fails to make its case. On just about every level, this ad is misleading, unfair and untrue, from the use of “corporate raider” to its examples of alleged outsourcing. Simply repeating the same debunked claims won’t make them any more correct.

It was also discredited by FactCheck.org.

The Romney camp produced a worthy response to these false allegations:

Most recently Obama attempted to portray Romney as being dishonest- going so far as to suggest that Romney is a “felon”– about when he left Bain:

When did Mitt Romney leave Bain Capital?

The presumptive Republican presidential nominee has said that he left the private equity firm in 1999, but new reports indicate that he may have stayed on until 2002.

The Boston Globe reported Thursday on SEC filings dated after February 1999 that state that Romney is the firm’s “sole stockholder, chairman of the board, chief executive officer, and president.” A 2003 Massachusetts disclosure form says that he owned 100 percent of the company in 2002, and forms indicate that he earned at minimum $100,000 as an “executive” in 2001 and 2002, apart from investments.

This has also been debunked by CNN

But first, is there anything other than the SEC filings to suggest a hands-on Romney role at Bain post-February 1999?

No is the word from four sources who communicated with CNN on Thursday — all of whom have firsthand knowledge of Bain’s operations at the time in question. Three of the four are Democrats, and two of the four are active Obama supporters in Campaign 2012.

All four told me Romney is telling the truth.

and CNN Money

Mitt Romney did not manage Bain Capital’s investments after leaving to run the Salt Lake City Olympic Games, according to confidential firm documents obtained by Fortune.

and FactCheck.org

We have never disputed that Romney remained the owner of Bain while he was running the Olympics committee. The issue always has been, who was running Bain? Nothing in the SEC documents contradicts what Romney has certified as true.

On that point, the Obama campaign cites snippets of a few news clippings to make a case that Romney was still a part-time manager of Bain after he left to run the Olympics. But a close reading shows these news accounts don’t contradict Romney either.

and the WaPo

Given that the plaintiffs’ lawyers will try to list as many defendants as possible to try to force a settlement, one can be certain Romney would have been named if there had been any hint of his involvement. But he was not named, despite the SEC filings suggesting his control of the shares.

In other words, creditors apparently had determined Romney was only a passive investor.

and FactCheck.org again

We would reassess our judgment should somebody come up with evidence that Romney took part in specific management decisions or had any active role (not just a title) at Bain after he left to head the Olympics. But nothing we’ve seen directly contradicts Romney’s statements — which he has certified as true under pain of federal prosecution — that he “has not had any active role” with Bain or “been involved in the operations” of Bain since then.

Over at Bretibart, Ben Shapiro points out the repeated Obama failures at the politics of personal destruction.

And thus the Obama campaign has sought to exploit the Bain Capital issue in a variety of ways. Each time, they’ve failed epically:

– When the Obama team first attacked Romney for his time at Bain Capital, Corey Booker and Bill Clinton quickly struck back, reminding Obama that attacking private equity was outrageous;
– When the Obama team, led by DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, attacked Romney for having offshore accounts, the New Media reminded the old media that Wasserman Schultz had offshore accounts of her own, and that Romney has never been accused of illegality in any way, shape, or form;
– When the Obama team attacked Mitt Romney with false charges of outsourcing via an obviously coordinated story in the Washington Post, the New Media immediately debunked the story and forced the media to back down;

Now, the Obama team has tried to pretend that Romney was still running Bain Capital between 1999 and 2002 by deliberately misreading federal filings – and the New Media has debunked them and forced the mainstream media into compliance.

I believe that the Obama campaign will be one of constant and intentional disinformation. Obama and his henchmen will be spreading lie after lie after lie in an effort to keep Romney off balance through character assassination.

The essence of propaganda consists in winning people over to an idea so sincerely, so vitally, that in the end they succumb to it utterly and can never again escape from it.

– Joseph Goebbels

Facts don’t matter to the Obama regime- only the narrative matters. Obama is going to be sorry his goons used the word “felony.” You can take the guy out of Chicago but you can’t take Chicago out of the guy.
