Feeding Freedom II

Spread the love

One of our First Sergeants did what many 1SGs didn’t do when Outback Steakhouse and Carraba’s was feeding troops on main FOBs. Unfortunately, many troops aren’t on the FOBs and are busy taking the fight to the enemy where they lay – on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan.

One of those great First Sergeants – and one of the few in this Brigade that I think is actually competent – wasn’t content with just getting his. He went in and packed up a bunch of meals and took to he dangerous streets of Afghanistan at night to deliver real food to his troops on the border. Outback loaded him up with good stuff and they packed it in their trucks and took to the roads. 1SG Joseph Frescatore is a real hero and puts his troops first. He put up this video and I wanted to share it.

Thanks CJ, heroism takes many forms. I am sure the troops under 1SG Joseph Frescatore love and trust him beyond measure. May they accomplish their missions and come home unharmed.

Please keep these old time transmissions coming, as much as possible CJ. Many of us feel connected with the struggle and our troops through your efforts.

THAT is leadership. It probably stands in sharp contrast to some of the E-9’s who are probably runing around with their pressed uniforms giving the troops’ a hard time about stupid shit, especially those troops who go outside the wire on a regular basis.

Just wow, CJ.

There’s nothing quite like a taste from home when you’re a million miles away.

CJ, I was in a rush to get to work this morning and didn’t comment on the video; so I will now, Out f”ing standing!

You are our connection to the war! You are our war correspondent! You mean a lot to us CJ. Please post as often as you can.

The E9 looked so young, but then I remembered, I have somehow managed to get old.

This is great material, CJ. Thanks Again.

I’m hungry!

Every NCO worth his stripes should have been pitching in to help. The other first shirts ain’t worth the diamond in their chevrons if they weren’t doing the same for their units.

1Sgt Frescatore embodies the ideal NCO.

That’s what the f*** I’m talkin’ bout, top! I know first hand what a badass 1SG Frescatore is. He was my drill sergeant back in 2003. I can remember laughing my ass off (no military bearing whatsoever) at some of the stuff he would say. We were in new barracks and, then SSG, Frescatore tasked me to paint the platoon mascot on the stairwell walls. He got oil based paint but nothing to clean the brushes. When I explained that I needed paint thinner to clean up he replied, “Signagio, I know your jonesin’ ass don’t need no paint thinner. You probably just wanna use that shit to get high!” Best wishes to you, 1SG Frescatore, and all of our troops serving overseas.

He was my DS I will never forget him! I was in his last cycle with E 2-81!

Well, ya he embodies what a true NCO is, been crooked since the day he came in. Knowing the way he works, I am sure he received something like a lifetime of free meals at Outback. He always comes out clean, but doesn’t look that way this time around with his looming legal case.
