I can’t shake this feeling that he’s fleeing, with 3,000 people, for a reason that we have yet to discern. A very bad one. Watch for something drastic to “happen” while he and his retinue are “gone to the mattresses.”

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) – Oklahoma voters have approved a measure that would forbid judges from considering international law or Islamic law when deciding cases.Republican Rex Duncan, the sponsor of the measure, called it a “pre-emptive strike” designed to close the door on activist judges “legislating from the bench or using international law or Sharia law.”
Members of the Muslim community called the question an attack on Islam and some of them said they are prepared to file a lawsuit challenging the measure

The “Power of the Gavel” changes in Washington

Largely unnoticed amid last night’s story of the Republicans winning back the U.S. House and making significant gains in the Senate was the Oklahoma vote on State Question 755.

SQ 755 was a state constitutional amendment that will prohibit Oklahoma courts from using sharia law in deciding cases. It passed overwhelmingly last night with 70% support!

But this outcome was by no means a foregone conclusion. On October 7th, a poll was released with these results on SQ 755: 45% in favor, 25% opposed, 30% undecided.

Two major newspapers editorialized against it. The CAIR (Council on American-Islamic Relations) affiliate in Oklahoma spoke out repeatedly against it in the media with its shop-worn “Islamophobia” propaganda.

We here at ACT! for America surmised that the high undecided percentage reflected voter misunderstanding of the issue AND confusion as to which way to vote on the initiative. And when voters are confused on a ballot initiative like this, they tend to either not vote on it or vote against it.

On October 18th ACT! for America launched a two-week statewide radio ad in support of SQ 755. Then, on October 21st, 26th, and November 1st we dropped a total of 600,000 automated calls to Oklahoma voters with a message urging support of SQ 755 from James Woolsey, former director of the CIA.

Additionally, we placed an editorial in one of the state’s major newspapers, sent multiple emails to our members, and conducted several radio and print media interviews.

The 70% support demonstrates that our efforts to educate the voters and clear up any confusion were immensely successful.

This 70% victory was significant because this was the first time voters had a chance to vote in a statewide election on the issue of sharia law. The overwhelming margin sends an unequivocal message to Islamic organizations and Muslims, such as Ground Zero Mosque Imam Rauf, who advocate sharia law for America—sharia law is not welcome here!

As for the other election results, from the ACT! for America perspective the most important consequence is that “the power of the gavel” will switch in the U.S. House of Representatives.

By this I mean key committees, such as the Homeland Security Committee, will likely be chaired by Members of Congress who truly understand the threat radical Islam poses to our national security and who will have a different list of priorities regarding what bills to consider and hearings to hold.

The legislative calendar, controlled by the Speaker of the House, will also reflect different priorities regarding what bills to bring to a vote before the full House.

This is a MAJOR step forward in our legislative efforts on Capitol Hill. Bills we supported this year that didn’t even get a committee hearing will receive the serious and thoughtful consideration they deserve. Prospects for House passage during the next two years of some of our legislative priorities have improved dramatically as a result of last night’s election results.

Without question, most voters were making their decisions based on concerns about the economy, jobs, federal spending and ballooning deficits, and what became known as “ObamaCare.”

But as exits polls I saw revealed, voter concerns about national security were lurking just beneath the surface. Americans are aware of the increase in homegrown jihadism and there is a growing consciousness about the threat of sharia law.

These election results not only bode well for progress in the Congress on our legislative agenda, they also bode well for increased pressure on the Obama administration to adjust the way it is defining and addressing the threat of radical Islam.

Oaklahoma will probably be challenged in court by the Obama/Holder Justice Department.

Mission Accomplished! Did Obama intentionally Nuke the Economy?

Is President Obama intentionally attempting to bring the stock market to its knees? Some argue that, indeed, he is. “The free market has failed,” he could say, “just as it failed the housing market!” Consider that, in the teeth of a devastating recession, Obama has:

• Raised taxes on small businesses, the engines of entrepreneurship and job growth

• Raised the capital gains tax

• Lied about “tax cuts for 95% of Americans”, offering instead $13 a week, achieved not through tax cuts, but by changing the federal withholding tables!

• Destroyed charitable giving by axing the tax breaks for 26% of all giving (or $81 billion in 2006)

• Proposed a carbon cap-and-trading scheme designed to punish oil companies and further tax consumers

Why would Obama inflict these destructive policies while the economy is collapsing? Simple. Each step strengthens the role of government in people’s lives.

• Squelching the stock market kills its attractiveness as a parking lot for private capital. Combined with an increase in the capital gains tax, investors will swarm to bonds — tax-free vehicles like municipal bonds, which benefit the growth of state and local government. And unions, of course.

• Carbon cap-and-tax will raise taxes on all Americans as the cost of goods and services will increase to address a non-existent threat.

• True tax cuts would grow the economy, which is why, of course, Obama shuns them. The last major recession was Jimmy Carter’s malaise. It consisted of of double-digit inflation and unemployment. It was finally licked by across-the-board tax cuts for everyone (even the despised rich), which touched off a twenty-plus year run of prosperity.

• Charities reduce the role of government assistance for those in need. That, in Obama’s world, can not be tolerated. That is why charities must be choked off and allowed to die. Especially faith-based institutions.

The only plausible explanation is that Obama’s destruction of the economy is intentional.

It is based on a failed ideology that has a track record of Mugabe-esque disaster.

And I’m not the only one who thinks so. Jim Cramer is a long-time investor who’s been around the block a few times. He thinks the Obama agenda is crystal clear, stating “…their agenda is destroying the life savings of millions of Americans… we’ve elected a Leninist.”

Cramer went on to say that President Obama has caused “the greatest wealth destruction I have seen by a president.”

So he’s got that going for him.

Cramer calls it an “assault on the economy” by the President and his cohorts.

If all of this comes as a surprise to you, I’m guessing you never saw The secret scrapbook of Barry Soetero.

Because if you had, you would’ve known.

It is tragic-comic that both the President and Robert Gibbs have both stated that they will not comment on the day-to-day “fluctuations” of the stock market (despite that often they themselves cause those fluctuations – invariably downward. And “fluctuations” implies that the markets sometimes rise – rarely under this President), but if a radio or TV talking head like Rick Santelli or Rush Limbaugh says something that opposes Obama, both the president and Gibbs immediately, and often repeatedly, rise to the challenge.

So commenting on situations that adversely affect the jobs, investments, or retirements of millions of Americans is beneath them. Challenging dissent, however, is job one for this White House.
