It’s a stupid thing to say or think, but I’m convinced he’s not alone, a lot of people thought they were electing someone who was inherently both cool and tough because of skin color. I guess 50 years ago they would have voted for anyone wearing a white cowboy hat because they always get the bad guys.

Thanks, Skookum. I learned this years ago when I had a friend who had a tendency toward relationships that ended badly. And I noticed, though she is lily white, she always went for black or Mexican men. I asked her about that and she liked dark men “because they are tough.” Then she would wonder why they treated her badly.
Now think about movies. Everyone has stereotype roles. And what are the black guys stereotypes? Never “I am just another guy.” Always, they are somewhat disadvantage and have developed a flip rap style. You know in your heart they are really a good guy if they just had the chance. Then in the plot development either they are the tragic stooge who gets wiped out, or they amaze everyone by actually being very competent. Look at Stuart Little 3, a kid’s movie. The hero is a skunk. Get it? the only black animal– and he has a black voice– and after he saves the day, he says “Now I know people didn’t like me because I was a skunk, but because I was a jerk.” Pretty much sums up a lot of black roles. It creates expectations.

Where are Jesse and Al? Why are they not indignant?

Is their silence because they are protecting Mr. Maher, or do they like the characterization?

@ Skook,

I think you’ve nailed it, “a vile bottom feeder like Maher.”

For some reason his idiotic “shock” style of entertainment has found its way onto the airwaves, nevertheless, it is not comedy. He is annoying at best and grates on the intelligence.

Maher is a Hefner-wannabe, with an attitude toward women which should have been enough to keep him from gaining visibility, but it seems that enough women find him funny and his network makes money by airing him.

It’s a pathetic statement on the state of Entertainment in America.

What about Obama’s white half?

Leftist = Racist

They can’t stop using race as a divisive tool. Maher doesn’t deserve the platform he has. He’s the smartest-sounding dolt I’ve ever seen…besides Obumble.

I gave up my HBO service. Had enough.
