Arizona Governor Jan Brewer has said she will now direct her own legal team to defend Arizona’s tough new illegal alien law, in effect humiliating her Attorney General, who seems to be overly sympathetic to the Obama Administration and its Open Borders and Pro-illegal alien stance.
Terry Goddard, Arizona’s Attorney met with Eric Holder, America’s Attorney General who is categorically opposed to the law that he hasn’t read, earlier on Friday.
Governor Brewer issued this statement on Friday afternoon:
Due to Attorney General Goddard’s curious coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice today and his consistent opposition to Arizona’s new immigration laws, I will direct my legal team to defend me and the State of Arizona rather than the Attorney General in the lawsuits challenging Arizona’s immigration laws.
Gov. Brewer attained her post after the previous governor, Janet Napolitano was selected by President Obama to head up Homeland Security, apparently Obama required a harmless ‘Yes’ person in this position since there doesn’t seem to be any other qualifications; however, he may regret that choice because of the hard nosed approach towards illegal aliens by Napolitano’s replacement, Jan Brewer.
Brewer’s most likely opponent in the election this Fall would be Terry Goddard; he led in a poll last winter using him as a hypothetical opponent for Brewer in the Governor’s race. Â Unfortunately for Goddard, Brewer’s popularity has soared since she took the tough stance on illegal aliens; she is now extremely popular in Arizona as well as nationally. Â Nearly a third of the states are drafting anti-illegal alien legislation similar to Arizona’s new law as an overwhelming desire is sweeping the nation to secure our borders, preserve our culture, and defend our citizenry from terrorism. Â Problems that President Obama considers unworthy of his consideration.
With the passage of time, it is becoming more obvious that President Obama is out of touch with Americans on these critical issues and is leading the country according to a template that is counter intuitive to Americans and in no way represents the will of the average American.
A professional horseman for over 50 years, Skook continues to work with horses. Skook has finished an historical novel, Fifty Thousand Years, that traces a mitochondrial line of DNA from 50,000 years ago to the present. The story follows a line of courageous women, from the Ice Ages to the present, as they meet the challenges of survival with grit and creativity. These are not women who whimper of being victims, they meet the challenges of survival as women who use their abilities without excuses or remorse, these women are winners, they are our ancestors.
Fifty Thousand Years is available in paperback and e-book, it is getting great reviews. You can purchase a copy here; Â Visit me on Facebook.

Brewer is one tough lady. Hope she can win this one against the thugmeister Obamatrons.
Yet another conservative star that shines because of Obama and his ilk. Way to go, Governor!
This is one smart lady. Great move.
Love the title. 8)
Evidently she and Pearce and Horne and some others have thought all the possible plays out in advance and worked out counter strategies. She directed the legislature to put this option for the governor in the law itself, knowing well that Goddard rose to his level of incompetence when he was Phoenix mayor. There was a related episode where he wasn’t going to cooperate and she went around him. The Dems are circling the wagons. Same old media reporting slants yesterday when the “tens of thousands” of protestors marched in the street (possible; the picture in the Republic is so good some idle person could count them) and “5000” supporters rallied in Diablo stadium, which holds 15,000 (tiny picture with mostly foreground of one person–background solid people).
Don’t know if everyone realizes this, but we just got back from an Alaskan Inside Passage Cruise and found out that Skookum is famous up there. They even named a coffee after him.
Keep up the great posts, Skookum, we enjoy them.
Brewer seems to be very tough, determined, and smart. That is a winning combination, and in the current political climate, it will sell like hot cakes. People are fed up with the “business in the back room as usual” type of politicians.
I think it is extremely interesting to see the several strong conservative women rising in this country. It is a good thing, but it make you wonder, where have the men all gone? Are they all worn out from playing dirty politics for too long?
That’s good news PB. Hope you enjoyed the trip and saw lots of wildlife. I will be in the Yukon at the end of June, I will be looking for “Skooukum” coffee and gold. Well you can’t blame a guy for panning for a few hours; especially when gold is over $1,000 an ounce. I will be visiting my relatives gold mines (3), they use Caterpillars, I’ll use an oversize pie pan. They mine hundreds of pounds, (with a fuel bill over a million a month), I’ll be tickled pink to find a one ounce nugget. The story of my life.
Dr D, I also find the appearance of strong willed Conservative women intriguing.
I’ve been working on a theory that it is a direct result of the Leftist indoctrination that passes for eduction in our public school system. Within the public school programs, there is a concerted effort to make the American boy as effeminate as possible. Boys are encouraged into a more gender neutral role not only by the schools, but their overly attentive mothers and the MSM as well. Consequently there is a vacuum of masculine leadership and men who seem to be more than anxious to follow a woman’s leadership; a concept that was unthinkable thirty years ago.
I personally admire strong women with leadership ability and will vote for one if she is the right ‘man’ for the job; but I can’t help noticing the whining voice of boys begging or complaining to their mothers and wondering where the masculine little boys have gone.
Governor Brewer also signed into law a “No license required” CCW law.
CCW law?
I think Blake is a bit confused about that CCW law, Concealed Carried Weapon, as the “no license required” part is about the license of the gun and not the person. A criminal doesn’t respect license to carry laws in the UK or in the USA, so Brewer’s logic was legal Citizens shouldn’t be forced to get a Writ of carry permission within a Concealed Carry License but they must still have legal proof of Citizerny to purchase firearms and ammo.

Just like Jimmy Carter in the 70’s.
