Typical of the horse manure bravado of which during his Presidential campaign Obama was so full of, Obama forcefully asserted that Iran should not be allowed to gain nuclear weapons.
“A nuclear Iran would pose a grave threat and the world must prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon,” Obama told reporters on a visit to Israel.
He assured Israel he would stand with them and not force them to compromise their security:
“If somebody was sending rockets into my house where my two daughters sleep at night, I would do everything in power to stop that, and would expect Israelis to do the same thing,” he said.
So what has Obama done to stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons? Nothing. He was willing to trade the security of Eastern Europe in exchange for Russia’s aid in stopping Iran from getting nukes, but that has gone nowhere. Russia told Obama to stick his offer.
It has become obvious that Obama now accepts Iran with nuclear weapons. The pledge to keep Iran from gaining nuclear weapons and protect Israel is but one more Obama statement that came with an expiration date.
Unfortunately, there’s more. Powerline blog has a fascinating series of stories which intersect in Iran. Not lone ago Gen. David Petraeus disclosed that Iran has been directly aiding Al Qaeda. The CIA reportedly had a program to track Al Qaeda in Iran but it has been cancelled (perhaps to avoid irritating our enemies).
Scott Johnson posts a remarkable story about Captain Joshua Mantz whose survival is nothing less than miraculous. The round that killed his Staff Sargeant and nearly killed Mantz in Iraq came from China via Iran.
Now it appears that Iran is aiding the development of a dirty bomb:
According to the report, Iran acquired potentially lethal chemicals, including cobalt, last summer. The chemicals would apparently work nicely with Iran’s nuclear program to create a dirty bomb.
So what did Obama know and when did he know it?
According to a new investigative Associated Press article, President Barack Obama was informed of the close ties between Iran’s Islamist regime and al-Qaeda one year ago.
Since 2006 Iran has been suspected of providing IED’s to insurgents in Iraq.
How comforting. Over the last year Obama asserted that the US must play a leadership role in the world but has done nothing while Iran has been thumbing its nose at the US.
As Doug Ross wryly observes, the guy who can’t shut up about everything suddenly has turned into President Marcel Marceau on the topic of Iran.
And what of Russia? They tell Obama to back off sanctions against Iran.
Iran’s nuclear weapons and dirty weapons are a threat to Israel and the US, Iran aids Al Qaeda and provides the ammunition to kill our troops. This is a grave and growing threat. Obama’s response?
Cap and trade and regulating the amount of salt in fast foods.
Simply outstanding. During his tenure in the Illinois State Senate Barack Obama voted “present” 129 times. He’s doing it again. Obama did so because he wanted to be certain he came down on the popular sides of issues. That sort of dithering is acceptable in a State Senator but is pathetic in a United States President.

I expected this fecklessness from Obama and the Democrats. It’s who they are.
What has always infuriated me was Bush’s refusal to make Iran pay a price for killing our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan. Apparently the rationale was that if we responded, Iran would retaliate in a horrendously destructive way.
Well, in 2007 British SAS troops stationed in Iraq went over the border into Iran and killed as many gun runners, financiers, and bomb makers as they could in Iran, and guess what? No retaliation from Iran!
In 2008 the Iraqi army went into Basra in Operation Charge of the Knights, killing the worst of the Iranian-backed militiamen and ejecting Qods Force commanders, and guess what? No retaliation from Iran!
Now, the press is gearing up the propaganda machine on Iran’s behalf again, telling us that Iran will close the Straits of Hormuz and cripple the economies of the west if we impose sanctions. Well, Iran tried that in 1988, and the U.S. Navy blew the crap out of their little speedboats with cluster bombs, and guess what? No retaliation from Iran!
Why do we keep having to rediscover that Iran becomes more dangerous when you appease it but more tractable when you smash it as hard as you can, and it never retaliates significantly?
Obama owns the Iranian nukes issue. If the Mad Mullahs don’t stop development of nukes, it will be Obama’s fault. If they get nukes, it will be Obama’s fault. If they use nukes against the Little Satan, it will be Obama’s fault.
Maybe he wants history to record him as the most powerful man in the world, who stood by while the Jewish homeland was wiped off the face of the Earth. Pontius Pilate comes to mind. Given Obama’s twenty years of worship at the feet of the Reverend Jeremiah Wright and his close personal relationship with the Reverend, I’m not surprised that Obama hates religious Jews and their homeland. Tame, secular Jews he’s OK with. It’s the one’s who practice Judaism that seem to turn him off. Like Prime Minister Netanyahu.
But I don’t think Obama has figured out the consequences of being the primary agent of Israel’s destruction. The blood of millions of Jews will be on Obama’s hands if Iran carries out its threat to wipe Israel off the map. I’m sure the average American voter will be running around, clapping and cheering and shooting their guns in the air, when they hear Tel Aviv just got nuked. No? They might actually hold Obama personally responsible for the destruction of Israel. I hope he is happy to accept that responsibility.
Of course, those pesky Jews might just decide that one holocaust is enough, and they might try to stop the Mad Mullahs. And they might have left their move too late, and nuclear war breaks out in the Middle East. Obama would own that, too.
Peace in the Middle East, Obama cannot win. That’s a fool’s errand when the Mad Mullahs are within months of obtaining nuclear weapons and the missiles to deliver them. While Obama has wasted 15 months in pointless yapping and useless meetings, the Mad Mullahs’ centrifuges have been spinning up a storm, one that will define Obama’s presidency.
No worries. Israel will solve the problem. Hope the Iranians like mushrooms. Then watch Obama scream and shout because a bunch of his muslim brothers met their demise.
Hussein also accepts 10% unemployment. Ya think he just might be WORKING to damage the US!
I don’t know how you do it, but I still can’t put the two words Obama and president together in word or print. It just doesn’t sound or look right.
Haven’t you figured out who’s side Obama is on yet? If Obama was charged in a court of law with being a patriot, would there be enough evidence to convict him? That sounds like a trial The Onion would do.
Obama’s expiration date for his promises is shorter than the mechanic’s tail light guarantee on work done on your car. Obama’s guarantee expires the moment he says them. At least the tail light guarantee is in effect as long as the mechanic can see the car’s tail lights.
@OLDPUPPYMAX: The actual unemployment is in the 20s because a lot of people have run out of unemployment insurance and still can’t find work. They are not included. The administration has also taken off of the list the ones who have taken part time jobs to earn whatever they can.
