There you go! Give’em cold steel.

Preparedness achieved:

I was never one to own weapons. I’ve kept the sidearm I carried when on active duty, but that’s all. Now, however, I’m finding myself in the market for a shotgun and an AR-15 or M-4 variant rifle.

I see the truth in the snarky quip that the only businesses helped by Obama’s policies are gun dealerships.

Troika37

During my childhood years I was around guns all the time. My father not only had hunting firearms but collector firearms and a number of handguns. When I found myself married with children, I didn’t feel a need to acquire firearms simply because I didn’t trust myself to be able to teach firearm safety to my children like my father was able to. Last nite though, I told my wife that my overtime earnings this year will be directed towards an investment in an arsenal of my own. I have always been pro-second amendment, but never a participant, but that will be rectified soon.

Galt – Perhaps ‘arsenal’ is a bit strong for my own intentions, but I will ensure my home and those in it are defensible. I don’t expect violence or forcible confiscation of firearms, but of all the things my father taught me, the lesson that is screaming the loudest is that it is better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

Great post. The 100 million + Americans who are armed–many HEAVILY so–have kept the left from utterly enslaving 300 million people. The day is coming when we’ll have to USE them.

“Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined…The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun.”
-Patrick Henry.

The 100 million + Americans who are armed–many HEAVILY so–have kept the left from utterly enslaving 300 million people.

Are we assuming that only those politically right-of-center own firearms?

GEEZ GUYS i would not want to be your ennemy 🙄 ,bye y’all

In the military, first day of basic training, they handed out little cards. The cards had advice from rodgers rangers who fought in the revolutionary war. The first rule and the best rule was: be prepared. Those who prepare will be ok. Those who do not will be in deep doodoo.

wildman….

Still in practice today…

Roger’s Rangers Rules or Plan of Discipline

Major Robert Rogers – 1757
(Commander of Roger’s Rangers)

This is the original version —

1. All Rangers are to be subject to the rules and articles of war; to appear at roll-call every evening on their own parade, equipped each with a firelock, sixty rounds of powder and ball, and a hatchet, at which time an officer from each company is to inspect the same, to see they are in order, so as to be ready on any emergency to march at a minute’s warning; and before they are dismissed the necessary guards are to drafted, and scouts for the next day appointed.

2. Whenever you are ordered out to the enemy’s forts or frontiers for discoveries, if your number be small, march in a single file, keeping at such a distance from each other as to prevent one shot from killing two men, sending one man, or more, forward, and the like on each side, at the distance of twenty yards from the main body, if the ground you march over will admit of it, to give the signal to the officer of the approach of an enemy, and of their number, & c.

3. If you march over marshes or soft ground, change your position, and march abreast of each other, to prevent the enemy from tracking you (as they would do if you marched in a single file) till you get over such ground, and then resume your former order, and march till it is quite dark before you encamp, which do, if possible, on a piece of ground that may afford your sentries the advantage of seeing or hearing the enemy at some considerable distance, keeping one half of your whole party awake alternately through the night.

4. Some time before you come to the place you would reconnoitre, make a stand, and send one or two men in whom you can confide, to look out the best ground for making your observations.

5. If you have the good fortune to take any prisoners, keep them separate till they are examined, and in your return take a different route from that in which you went out, that you may the better discover any party in your rear, and have an opportunity, if their strength be superior to your, to alter your course, or disperse, as circumstances may require.

6. If your march in a large body of three or four hundred, with a design to attack the enemy, divide your party into three columns, each headed by a proper officer, and let these columns march in single files, the columns to the right and left keeping at twenty yards distance or more from that of the center, if the ground will admit, and let proper guards be kept in the front and rear, and suitable flanking parties as a due distance as before directed, with orders to halt on all eminences, to take a view of the surrounding ground, to prevent your being ambushed, and to notify the approach or retreat of the enemy, that proper dispositions may be made for attacking, defending, & c, and if the enemy approach in your front on level ground, form a front of your three columns or main body with the advanced, guard, keeping out your flanking parties, as if you were marching under the command of trusty officers, to prevent the enemy from pressing hard on either of your wings, or surrounding you, which is the usual method of the savages, if their number will admit of it, and be careful likewise to support and strengthen your rear guard.

7. If you are obliged to receive the enemy’s fire, fall or squat down, till it is over, then rise and discharge at them. If their main body is equal to yours, extend yourselves occasionally; but if superior, be careful to support and strengthen your flanking parties, to make them equal with theirs, that if possible you may repulse them to their main body, in which case push upon them with the greatest resolution, with equal force in each flank and in the center, observing to keep at a due distance from each other, and advance from tree to tree, with one half of the party before the other ten or twelve yards. If the enemy push upon you, let your front fire and fall down, and then let your rear advance thro’ them and do the like, by which time those who before were in front will be ready to discharge again, and repeat the same alternately, as occasion shall require; by this means you will keep up such a constant fire, that the enemy will not be able easily to break your order, or gain your ground.

8. If you oblige the enemy to retreat, be careful, in your pursuit of them, to keep out your flanking parties, and prevent them from gaining eminences, or rising grounds, in which case they would perhaps be able to rally and repulse in their turn.

9. If you are obliged to retreat, let the front of your whole party fire and fall back, till the rear has done the same, making for the best ground you can; by this means you will oblige the enemy to pursue you, if they do it at all, in the face of a constant fire.

10. If the enemy is so superior that you are in danger of being surrounded by them, let the whole body disperse, and every one take a different road to the place of rendezvous appointed for that evening, which must every morning be altered and fixed for evening ensuing, in order to bring the whole party, or as many of them as possible, together, after any separation that may happen in the day; but if you should happen to be actually surrounded, form yourselves into a square, or if in the woods, a circle is best, and, if possible, make a stand till the darkness of the night favours your escape.

11. If your rear is attacked, the main body and flankers must face about to the right or left, as occasion shall require, and form themselves to oppose the enemy, as before directed; and the same method must be observed, if attacked in either of your flanks, by which means you will always make a rear of one of your flank-guards.

12. If you determine to rally after a retreat, in order to make a fresh stand against the enemy, by all means endeavour to do it on the most rising ground you can come at, which will give you greatly the advantage in point of situation, and enable you to repulse superior numbers.

13. If general, when pushed upon by the enemy, reserve your fire till they approach very near, which will them put them into the greater surprise and consternation, and give you an opportunity of rushing upon them with your hatchets and cutlasses to the better advantage.

14. When you encamp at night, fix your sentries in such a manner as not to be relieved from the main body till morning, profound secrecy and silence being often of the last importance in these cases. Each sentry, therefore, should consist of six men, two of whom must be constantly alert, and when relieved by their fellows, it should be done without noise; and in case those on duty see or hear anything, which alarms them, they are not to speak, but one of them is silently to retreat, and acquaint the commanding officer thereof, that proper dispositions may be made; and all occasional sentries should be fixed in like manner.

15. At the first dawn of day, awake your whole detachment; that being the time when the savages choose to fall upon their enemies, you should by all means be in readiness to receive them.

16. If the enemy should be discovered by your detachments in the morning, and their numbers are superior to yours, and a victory doubtful, you should not attack them till the evening, as then they will not know your numbers, and if you are repulsed, your retreat will be followed by the darkness of the night.

17. Before you leave your encampment, send out small parties to scout round it, to see if there be any appearance or track of an enemy that might have been near you during the night.

18. When you stop for refreshment, choose some spring or rivulet if you can, and dispose your party so as not to be surprised, posting proper guards and sentries at a due distance, and let a small party waylay the path you came in, lest the enemy should be pursuing.

19. If, in your return, you have to cross rivers, avoid the usual fords as much as possible, lest the enemy should have discovered, and be there expecting you.

20. If you have to pass by lakes, keep at some distance from the edge of the water, lest, in case of an ambuscade, or an attack from the enemy, when in that situation, your retreat should be cut off.

21. If the enemy pursue your rear, take a circle till you come to your own tracks, and there form am ambush to receive them, and give them the first fire.

22. When you return from a scout, and come near our forts, avoid the usual roads, and avenues thereto, lest the enemy should have headed you, and lay in ambush to receive you, when almost exhausted with fatigues.

23. When you pursue any party that has been near our forts or encampments, follow not directly in their tracks, lest you should be discovered by their rear guards, who, at such a time, would be most alert; but endeavour, by a different route, to head and meet them in some narrow pass, or lay in ambush to receive them when and where they least expect it.

24. If you are to embark in canoes, bateaux, or otherwise, by water, choose the evening for the time of your embarkation, as you will then have the whole night before you, to pass undiscovered by any parties of the enemy, on hills, or other places, which command a prospect of the lake or river you are upon.

25. In paddling or rowing, give orders that the boat or canoe next the sternmost, wait for her, and the third for the second, and the fourth for the third, and so on, to prevent separation, and that you may be ready to assist each other on any emergency.

26. Appoint one man in each boat to look out for fires, on the adjacent shores, from the numbers and size of which you may form some judgement of the numbers that kindled them, and whether you are able to attack them or not.

27. If you find the enemy encamped near the banks of a river, or lake, which you imagine they will attempt to cross for their security upon being attacked, leave a detachment of your party on the opposite shore to receive them, while, with the remainder, you surprise them, having them between you and the lake or river.

28. If you cannot satisfy yourself as to the enemy’s number and strength, from their fire, & c. conceal your boats at some distance, and ascertain their number by a reconnoitring party, when they embark, or march, in the morning, marking the course they steer, & c. when you may pursue, ambush, and attack them, or let them pass, as prudence shall direct you. In general, however, that you may not be discovered by the enemy on the lakes and rivers at a great distance, it is safest to lay by, with your boats and party concealed all day, without noise or show, and to pursue your intended route by night; and whether you go by land or water, give out parole and countersigns, in order to know one another in the dark, and likewise appoint a station for every man to repair to, in case of any accident that may separate you.

Such in general are the rules to be observed in the Ranging service; there are, however, a thousand occurrences and circumstances which may happen that will make it necessary in some measure to depart from them and to put other arts and stratagems in practice; in which case every man’s reason and judgment must be his guide, according to the particular situation and nature of things; and that he may do this to advantage, he should keep in mind a maxim never to be departed from by a commander, viz. to preserve a firmness and presence of mind on every occasion.

It quite simply just works…

Old Trooper 2 I am going to copy and save that. Thank You.Here’s something else all Marines know and had to learn and be able to recite during boot camp.

This is my rifle. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My rifle is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My rifle, without me, is useless. Without my rifle, I am useless. I must fire my rifle true. I must shoot straighter than any enemy who is trying to kill me. I must shoot him before he shoots me. I will….
My rifle and myself know that what counts in this war is not the rounds we fire, the noise of our burst, nor the smoke we make. We know that it is the hits that count. We will hit…
My rifle is human, even as I, because it is my life. Thus, I will learn it as a brother. I will learn its weakness, its strength, its parts, its accessories, its sights and its barrel. I will keep my rifle clean and ready, even as I am clean and ready. We will become part of each other. We will…
Before God I swear this creed. My rifle and myself are the defenders of my country. We are the masters of our enemy. We are the saviors of my life. So be it, until victory is America’s and there is no enemy, but Peace.

BUTLER BULLDOGS
WOOOOOOOOOOO

OooRah!

I wonder if Roger Rogers has any guidelines on avoiding getting into debt and alcoholism?

Breaking: Accident victim mistaken for Sean Penn fails to respond to a medical procedure recommended by the healthcare panel appointed by Obama. In support of Obama’s panel, this procedure was considerably less expensive and did not involve rationing.

😯

@Guffa

Well. I’m sure ROBERT Rogers would recommend not being in over 40 battles, and seeing/smelling/hearing/touching/tasting several decades of war, to avoid the demons that can drive a man to drink.

I hear it’s hard on a man. I also hear that those to the left of us conservatives, hold the troubled souls and minds of damaged warriors in higher regard that we do…

Somebody lied to me.

Turns out a “higher-feeling” liberal can WIKI a man’s name, (cuz EVERYONE HERE knows he didn’t know crap about this Patriot until today) read 12,00 words about his patriotism, bravery, and verve, and come back here to subtly hint that he isn’t worthy of a damn thing cuz he drank….And purposely disconnect the events, because he has NOTHING to counter what he’s reading in this particular post…so he reverts to acting like he’s 4 years old.

Did the bullets and shells frighten you, Guffa? Does strength remind you of your inherent weakness?

-Punk. Ya shoulda just waited for another post to “prove” your virtual “superiority”. Now all you’ve done is re-enforce your Beta status. Welcome to B-Rob, and Fake-American-Patriot’s world…

AKA: The Beta-boys. I suggest starting a fraternity.

We’ll call you the: Tri Beta Perditor’s

Curt, what a fabulous photo! I love it. I am a gun enthusiast and a competitive shooter. My “arsenal” would scare most liberals and I’m sure they would accuse me of something akin to Ruby Ridge. But I just love to shoot so I have a lot of weapons. And since weapons are absolutely useless without ammo I have plenty of that as well. Funny how gun & ammo sales have gone through the roof since November 2008. Never underestimate a well informed and a well stocked electorate.

Hey Petard

Churchill was a known drinker like Bush in his time – so no “I don’t think isn’t worthy of a damn thing cuz he drank”. Churchill was a great leader against Hitler and Dubya well he got sober at least. Interesting about Rogers – how even Washington didn’t trust him. Oh well – when I finished the biography about John Adams maybe I look into reading up on him.

Pictures of bullets and shells don’t frighten me – as for the real thing well I think they are more a danger to those who own them in regards to accidental and intentional gun shot wounds and deaths.

As for fraternity – lol – fraternities per se are a juvenile concept for jackasses desperate to feel superior over other through those they know rather by their own merit.

Sometimes we all need to take a breath.

Sit back and enjoy:

@Patvann:

Thanks Pat.

I made that into a Daily Distraction post and put it on the front page.

Something to think about:

As long as you have large arsenals, in case you must hit the trail, not the road for who expects gas stations to be open during a situation that requires weaponry, you will be leaving weapons and ammo for your opposition. Carrying over two hundred rounds for further than a few miles is like sharing one of Obama’s dreams of Dystopia.

Let’s think what you need to take if you are to survive for months on the trail, forget canned goods, they are far too heavy, think dried beans and oatmeal packed in old plastic peanut butter jars. Don’t forget a couple of small containers of salt and sugar, to celebrate victories and staying alive. You’ll need a tarp large enough to act as a ground cloth and an over the top cover, a tarp doubles the efficiency of a blanket, you will need a good blanket: forget the sleeping bags they don’t hold up to weather and rough conditions. A knife, an ax with a 30 inch handle with a sheath that secures it to your belt, pliers, baling wire, several different waterproof containers for strike anywhere matches, several small packets of extremely good kindling, Birch bark is the best I have ever used and it is renewable. You will need a cup, a bowl, and a pot. A roll of line with hooks to set trot lines and jug lines, if you know how. Knowing how to set snares for small animals up to the largest is helpful for staying alive, but it is a hard discipline to learn, snares can also be adapted for men. Being fit enough to walk 50 miles a day may be required to outdistance pursuers, are you ready?

Unfortunately, your homes make very poor defensive positions, expending enough ammo to justify all those weapons will leave you dead. Like Spartacus, I trust my odds in the mountains, they may run me down, but they will know they were in for a chase and a fight. Check out the Mad Trapper of Rat River to see what a determined man can do outrunning dog teams and an airplane.

Just sobering thoughts my friends from someone who depended on that list of gear for survival more times than I can remember. Always remember, a well placed round is much more effective than perforating the horizon and foliage with a barrage, it can also save you the effort of tracking a wounded animal for 20 miles.

PATVANN thank you,so beautifull and quite a photographer too,bye 🙄

BIG SIS TARGETS FLOPPING ACES 2! This is my next reader post……. 😆

I am an avid hunter, have been since old enough to walk, practically. My ‘arsenal’ consists of a .270 Win, a .222 Swift, and a 12 guage pump, for whatever is in season at the moment.

Is anybody here schooled on the rules of banking and check writing?

My wife wrote a check for our insurance coverage (Cobra) and put 2009 as the year instead of 2010. Of course, the prior month she put 2010, but the bank refused the check calling it a stale check and older than 6 months.

The insurance company cancelled the insurance coverage. Any suggestions?

The bank should have accepted the check, it had no real reason to not do so if you have an account in good standing. Now if the check had been dated 2011, that would have been a whole different matter, but if you had funds in your account to cover the check, they should have called you to clarify if it was a mistake at the very least.

This is why these freaking banks are becoming so infuriating, you have your own dough in the stash, yet they give you the shaft still.

Lately banks do not appear to be the repositories of any commendable intelligences.

JLFRNTX you should try to go to the bank ask to see the manager and explain the mistake and tell him that the insurance cancel your account for that error that anyone could have made,..that might work hopefully …try it,bye

@jlfintx:

Well, from what I can gather it looks as if a trip to the bank may be in order.

Under Texas law (assuming you live in TX from your user name) a banking institution is under “no obligation” to honor (pay) a check that is over six months old.

A banking institution can however act in “good faith” and go ahead and pay the check unless they have some reason to believe that the account holder (you) do not want it to be paid ie a stop payment order etc.

At the very least the bank should have contacted you to ask you how you wanted them to proceed. Since the vast majority of paper checks are handled through automated methods rather than human processing, I wonder how your check was separated from the herd due to the dating error.

If you have a good relationship with your bank, now is the time to see if you can put that to work to your advantage.

Some banks, such as this Capital One example, specifically spell out what their stale check policy is. Your bank may or may not have a specific policy spelled out in writing.

Barring corrective assistance from the bank, you could get in touch with your insurer, explain the situation, and FedEx them a Cashier’s Check for the “missed” premium. I emphasize the use of a Cashier’s Check because an insurance company will look more favorably on guaranteed funds because they know that there is no risk of bouncing, etc.

Hopefully you will get someone at either the bank or the insurer to handle the matter for you in a satisfactory fashion.

You may have to be prepared to carry the conversation up the ladder a step or three in order to get to the decision making supervisory positions.

Finally, once you get the situation resolved satisfactorily I would strongly recommend, if you can swing it, that you pay a month ahead. That way you will have a month of premium prepayment cushion if something goes south in the future and you’ll never have to worry about a payment arriving after the due date because you’re a month early.

A friend of mine who was diagnosed with leukemia, a treatable type fortunately, pays his premiums two months ahead so that he never has to worry about due dates etc, etc.

MATA thank you ,your so gracious with everyone and me ,bye 🙄

@jlfintx

With COBRA yer kinda screwed. Funny how Federally-mandated programs work out that way.

I’m sorry for your situation.

With COBRA, the rules are very concrete. Some don’t even have an avenue of arbitration like all other policies have to have. But do try and find if that particular carrier/program does. Emphasize your length of membership without missed payments. If you get a human.

The cost you’ve been paying for COBRA is the combined cost of what both you and your previous employer were paying…Which usually means: A LOT.

I would venture to say, that if your credit is good, and the fact that you live in TX, you could pick up a new personal plan with a bit higher deductible/cap, and save some money….and by doing that, get out from under the mandate.

If you go this route, read the holy crap out of the fineprint. They didn’t really make it easy for you to do that with your previous contract, did they?

Good luck.

Its probably cheaper to go to Kaiser. What were your monthly premiums anyway?

I wrote a novel about this very time in America. It is set in 2015, during the second term of a narcissist and deeply troubled President who believes he is destined to rule. His party dominants the country. Land seizures, right seizures, and other examples of an aggressive government control are everywhere. People are scared, confused, and fearful of trumped up examples of “domestic terrorism”. The President, supported by a corrupt Congress, a compliant MSM, and some members in the military decides this is the time to execute his planned takeover. Even the Russians, who discover in some old files, much to their horror, that they had recruited the President as a college student years earlier as a sleeper agent, realize his actions are dangerous and try to warn America. He is acting on his own for his own agenda, which is to rule.

I wrote the original draft thirteen years ago as an exercise in “What would it take to position the nation for such an attempt?” Back then the people who read the draft laughed, saying no way it could happen here. They aren’t laughing now. The novel centers around a small community out west that simply refuse to knuckle under any more and are assaulted and put under siege by elements of the federal government and some of the President’s private forces.

The book was published this year, it is called “REVOLT” (www.revoltthebook.com). Go and visit the website. Read the book. So far I predicted accurately what is happening now. Not because I’m some kind of soothsayer (I’m a retired career police detective), but because history has a bad habit of simply repeating itself for people who care not to learn from it.

It is one possible future.

@archer

I believe that when I get a chance, I will get your book and read it. Your description brings to mind another prescient author whose books paralleled the current time in America. It should be an interesting read.

@archer52: Please tell us how to get of of this mess. Hopefully your prescience shows a positive future!

Sounds nuts to me. What do you think is going to happen? A full blown US civil war between the government and ‘patriots’? Is the US army going to stalk you through the back woods of West Virginia or whereever you and make you pay for healthcare for all US citizens? Maybe a bomb could drop and you could pretend you are Viggo Mortensen in The Road and push a trolley towards Mexico? I really don’t think the US government is going to spend money on dog teams and airplanes to hunt you down unless you plan on a killing spree or something with your ammo.

Sounds like you relish this scenario – kinda of like the anti-government Christian nuts desperate for the rapture.
http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2010/mar/30/militia-members-police-death-plot

@Archer52

You accurately predicted that the Russian recruited the President of the United States as a college student? lol. Did you enjoy the Manchurian Candidate book by any chance?

Guffaw, I will assume your annoying writing style reflects ignorance tempered with an honest quest for knowledge: thus I will take your query with a measure of seriousness rather than a challenge for a battle of wits, a competition you seem woefully unprepared for despite my modest six years of formal classwork. My mountain and survival skills would be obvious if you took the time to read my bibliography of articles on this blog: I’ll assume that you will take the time to educate yourself in the near future, at least in this regard.

Otherwise, my purpose is to enlighten my fellow ‘Conservative’ readers in case of natural disaster, or a general breakdown of the system: perhaps indicative of an economic policy that is unsustainable. If I help one Conservative survive a disaster, it has been time well spent. In a breakdown of the system, it requires only a minimum of cerebral ability to realize those who have not had the foresight to prepare will more than likely become the enemy. The key is to be prepared, in grim and desperate situations, he who is unprepared will die. If you doubt this, I invite you to accompany me in the winter on a little walkabout of say 20 miles a day across mountains and wild rivers in the land of the midnight sun, where the temperature reaches a daily high of 40 to 60 below: you pack your supplies and I will pack mine, the one who is still alive four days later is the winner. May the best man win!

Now, in the future, if you have the need to know or have a legitimate question, I suggest you ask within a certain level of civility and decorum or receive the figurative evisceration you seem to crave so desperately.

Oh, a word of warning, if you breathe hard with your mouth open while climbing mountains at 50 below, your teeth will freeze and that night you wont sleep well in your snow cave, because it will feel like you have been hit in the mouth with an ax. Just a thought to help you sleep tonight, while you wonder why you would ever challenge someone at their own game.

@Skootums

I’m not doubting your mountain or survival skills but your sanity/paranoid levels. Although I must admit I am interested as to what makes a person like you tick in regards to some of your comments. For instance – if say some natural disaster happened – would you help someone if you knew they weren’t a conservative? I’m not planning on hiking across 20 miles of mountains any time soon. Maybe we could have a battle over Trivial Pursuit – best man wins? lol

Do you plan for all possible disasters and possibilities? Are you building an ark in case God floods the world again? btw – have you seen Man vs Wild? I wonder if you two had a survival face off who would win?

If society broke down I wonder how long it would take all those anti-government nuts before they miss government? As for the tip on opening my mouth if I’m climbing a mountain at 50 below – I’ll try and remember that here in Australia if and when society falls apart and Kevin Rudd and his Big government are chasing me in the outbank for not paying a parking fine. I’ll file that with such useful tips as ‘duck and cover’ in case of nuclear attack.

GAFFAUK my niece was in AUSTRALIA last year as a student vet at the zoo, she visit the country and the people and she fell in love with all the warm hearth giving she receive and she talk of the widerness also ,,,so instead of asking challenging and quite sarcastic questions to a knowledgeble professional of the wild ,,,read the others trues story and learn the knowledge of the wilderness attitude to get if you ever get lost in there,,,i doubt you are AUSTRALIAN BORN ,by your persona,,,bye 🙄

Yeah Australia and Australians are great. Very friendly like Americans. Although they got annoyed recently with Robin Williams jokes. As for sarcasm – sure – why not? Have you checked out the sarcastic, exaggerated and bias views on here – or do you only complain when it’s non-conservative views? Like Fox News I’m just trying to add a counterview so it’s ‘Fair and Balanced’. I’m not Australian – there’s a clue in the nick GaffaUK. 😛 Which country are you from?

GAFFAUK you come here with sarcasm,,you get sarcasm,,,you are polite ,,,you get more info in your brain,,,your name clue i know stand for UK=undiscipline king kong,? bye 🙄

@ilovebeeswax

There was sarcasm before and there sarcasm long after I post here by moderators and others. Why get upset – just a bit of leg-pulling, a bit of jagged comment to make legit points. What’s sauce for the goose? I think it’s hypocritical if people can give it out but not take it. As long as the debate is lively and not poisonous.

So are you going to start pointing out the sarcasm in the conservative comments here – or don’t you admit that you are been bias?

No – Undiscipline King Kong would be UKK. And undiscipline King Kong isn’t a country outside of your imagination. :mrgreen:

GOVERNMENT JOBS

A guy goes to the Post Office to apply for a job. The interviewer
asks him, ‘Are you allergic to anything?’

He replies, ‘Yes – caffeine.’

‘Have you ever been in the military service?’

‘Yes,’ he says. ‘I was in Iraq for two years.’

The interviewer says, ‘That will give you 5 extra points toward
employment.’

Then he asks, ‘Are you disabled in any way?’

The guy says, ‘Yes…an IED exploded near me and I lost both of my
testicles.’

The interviewer grimaces and then says, ‘O.K. You’ve got enough points
for me to hire you right now. Our normal hours are from 8:00 A.M….. To
4:00 P.M. You can start tomorrow at 10:00 – and plan on starting at
10:00 A.M. every day.’

The guy is puzzled and says, ‘If the work hours are from 8:00 A.M. To
4:00 P.M., why don’t you want me to here until 10:00 A.M.?’

‘This is a government job,’ the interviewer says..’For the first two
hours, we just stand around drinking coffee and scratching our balls. No
point in you coming in for that….

GaffaUK

Since my net crashed as I was finishing up the first draft of my response. Let me just cut to the chase here. Two things you have to remember about our current situation.

1. We are already engaged in a civil war that started back in the forties when the communists (mostly Soviet) infiltrated our government and aligned themselves with what is now identified as progressives. They exist in government, academia and other parts of our nation. The war is between freedom loving founding fathers respecting constitutionalists and the others that think
“remaking” America is not only a right but a destiny. Like I said, they won the first round during the sixties and have been advancing steadily since. That is mostly due to our laziness and inattentiveness. We had plenty of disposable income and freedom to pay them off with so that they would basically leave us alone. Sadly, it was the boiling frog moment and we were the frogs. Now there is no money and no freedoms left to just give away. From here on out it will be a struggle for them to seize more, or at least I hope it will. They have worked hard for two generations to dumb down the citizens of America as to their history and their place in the world. Unlike Britain, the people who founded this nation were the ones who had in the DNA a desire to be free of rulers, kings and tyrants. How much of that DNA is left will be the key to the future. The book deals with people who are not nuts, or zealots. They are regular citizens like farmers, ranchers, storekeepers and lawmen who simply cannot give up any more freedom without losing their land, their families or their livelihood. They simply say “enough.”

Now as to your sideways comment on the whether or not the government will chase private citizens through the mountains let me share with you some of our own history (history is the key to the future).

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Blair_Mountain

Here is a passage that you might find interesting-

“By August 29, battle was fully joined. Chafin’s men, though outnumbered, had the advantage of higher positions and better weaponry. Private planes were hired to drop homemade bombs on the miners. On orders from the famous General Billy Mitchell, Army bombers from Maryland were also used to disperse the miners, a rare example of Air Power being used by the federal government against US citizens. A combination of gas and explosive bombs left over from the fighting in World War I were dropped in several locations near the towns of Jeffery, Sharples and Blair.”

The “war” was over miners wanting to form a union and a private company refusing. The President of the United States ordered soldiers and bombers into the conflict on the side of the company. Think about that. The government tried to kill civilians over a union…

Oh… and it happened in the backwoods of West Virginia…

This particular president, in my opinion, would have no problem with sending troops in to secure an area if he thought it was a threat to his administration or to an interest he felt vital. The real question is, as a free people, what would we do about it?

I understand the Brits and the Europeans having trouble understanding our basic dislike for huge oppressive governments. You all have been under the thumb for thousands of years and know no better. We do.

@GaffaUK

There are all sorts of scenerios that could lead to a breakdown of civil systems. Iran is going nuclear, North Korea has missile delivery systems that are now capable of hitting the west coast of the US. The monetary system could collapse, a major earthquake could disrupt supply routes, an asteroid could hit anywhere on the face of the earth and create havoc. A gamma ray burst, either man made or cosmic could render all electronics virtually useless. Most people’ available cash exists as an accounting entry in an electronic database, unavailable if electronics do not function.

Systems do not have to collapse on a global level for civil institutions to break down. Large urban areas typically do not have more than about a weeks worth of food in the warehouses and grocery stores. It would take very little time for food to become a major issue in an urban area. Rural areas are better off as they tend to have more supplies available for immediate use. The “enemy” is not a government entity, it is a starving neighbor that failed to prepare for the possibility of such a situation and is willing to do whatever it takes to put food in his and his families mouth. That would include killing you for what he needs, or just taking what he needs from you, leaving you to starve.

It will be the left leaners that cannot fathom the possibility that government won’t exist to take care of them that will definitely be in peril. Truthfully it won’t matter what your political philosophy is if you have not prepared for your own well being. The likelyhood is that those with a philosophy of self reliance will be those that have prepared, and we know that self reliance is not something that the left cherishes as a virtue.

I have two years worth of dry goods put away. Call it “money in the bank”! You can’t eat gold. Will I ever need these supplies? Probably not, but it’s kinda like believing in God. Once you’re at the pearly gates, it’s a bit late to realize that you might have been more prudent to have prepared for the possibility. If it turns out there is no God, well you’re worm food like everyone else and no harm done.

Here is one for Brob to spin.

Obama’s Nonexistent Career as Law Professor

Posted by Van Helsing at April 1, 2010 9:27 AM

Some say that Barack Hussein Obama’s only qualifications are his skin color, a Muslim name that specifically recalls two prominent enemies of America, and hard-left political views that he usually knows enough to gloss over when the wrong people are listening — all of which endear him to the liberal elite ruling class that installed him in power. But “community organizer” — i.e., Marxist rabble-rouser — isn’t the only job title on his resume. He also taught law at the University of Chicago.

Obama’s past is shrouded in secrecy, but we do have some hearsay about his law-teaching days, via Doug Ross:

I spent some time with the highest tenured faculty member at Chicago Law a few months back, and he did not have many nice things to say about “Barry.” Obama applied for a position as an adjunct and wasn’t even considered. A few weeks later the law school got a phone call from the Board of Trustees telling them to find him an office, put him on the payroll, and give him a class to teach. The Board told him he didn’t have to be a member of the faculty, but they needed to give him a temporary position. He was never a professor and was hardly an adjunct.
The other professors hated him because he was lazy, unqualified, never attended any of the faculty meetings, and it was clear that the position was nothing more than a political stepping stool. According to my professor friend, he had the lowest intellectual capacity in the building. He also doubted whether he was legitimately an editor on the Harvard Law Review, because if he was, he would be the first and only editor of an Ivy League law review to never be published while in school (publication is or was a requirement).
Apparently the Harvard Law Review position was an Affirmative Action appointment awarded to him to give liberals an opportunity to congratulate themselves, much like the position he holds now.

Not only was Hopey McChange never a law professor, at this point he isn’t even a lawyer, having surrendered his license to practice law possibly to escape trouble over false information on his bar application. His Bitter Half isn’t a lawyer anymore either. They’re in good company, by liberal standards; Bill Clinton was forced to give up his law license too. It’s nice to see the profession is maintaining some standards.

We may never know how the Manchurian Moonbat got bumped up the ladder to the top rung so fast, but it’s becoming increasingly obvious that it wasn’t on the strength of legitimate qualifications.

On a tip from Edward. Hat tip: Gateway Pundit.

@Archer 52

Yep annoying when that happens – you type something in and then lose it somehow. Anyway…

What evidence do you have that Soviet communists infiltrated the US government and had a significant effect on the history and direction of the US?

As for US – which sprang from the colonies that was founded by the British? A lot of the many of the founding father didn’t, at least initially, want to break away from Britain or from having a king. They, rightly, wanted a better deal. No tax without representation etc. And certainly the struggle through British history has been with freedom. Just look at Magna Carta, the English Civil War, WWII etc. I would love the UK to ditch Liz II but she is pretty much a hand shaking puppet – something that William the Conqueror would not recognise. I wonder how many inspiration the US took from the UK in regards to law and justice?

As for Battle of Blair Mountain – interesting. Seems like the left has more to worry about that the right. When men cannot set up a union and are prevented from doing so by private company and a Republican President.

The key to this in my opinion was that he knew someone was looking out for him. His attitude was “you can’t touch me” and that coming from a kid who is not someone like Clinton or Gore’s offspring. He came from a relatively obscure background. So who was “handling” him?

My guess- Frank Marshall Davis asked for a favor and got it. I’d bet early on Obama’s raw talent was seen and he was recruited by Davis and Davis’s people.

Frank Marshall Davis- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Marshall_Davis

That is the key to this whole thing. Davis made is name in Chicago, created a core group of friends and supporters. He makes friends with Obama’s granddaddy and then Obama. Either he recognized Obama’s raw talent, or was just looking out for the kid. How else to you explain his movements? Kansas, Hawaii, Indonesia, then to New York, Harvard and then Chicago? Why Chicago? Why not stay in New York or go to California where the nuts in the trees are only exceeded by the nuts running around.

Then there was his first election-

http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/05/29/obamas.first.campaign/index.html

where he used trickery to defeat a well known and well liked female democrat.

He isn’t that smart and had to have someone’s blessing to do it.

No matter what happens Obama will end up very, very rich.

@Donald

Well I don’t see any harm in storing 2 years worth of canned food. Although you and Skookum seems to be at odds in the method. According to Skookum – your home will be a poor defensive position. Your neighbours might not have 2 years worth of food but they may have guns and outnumber you. Are you going to stay put and shoot people all day and night for 2 years? Or are you going drag 2 years worth of canned food and follow Skookum up into the mountains?

My concern isn’t the being prepared for such an eventuality (however remote) but the anti-government attitude behind it. I’m saying government is 100% force for good – but making out that in modern healthy democracy like the US where politicians are elected by the people – that government is out to get you is paranoid and to an extreme can be dangerous. I find it laughable that Obama is some secret Communist recruited by the Russians. No doubt every time a democrat is elected there is this shrill over reaction. Clinton elected – run to the hills! Truman is President – it’s the end of the world! Ike’s not a republican – he’s a commie Rino! Is this the sort of rubbish that rotted Timothy McViegh’s brain?

As for believing God – I believe there is harm done. Wasting all those hours praying and attending church for something that doesn’t exist when all those hours and resources could have been better spent. However if people kept religion to themselves then it would only be self-harm. Unfortunately history and even events today show religion causes make pain and suffering around the world. If no one believed in God – there would be a lot less problems.

Woof, Gaffa…. hard to believe which statement is worse, more offensive, and downright stupid…

1: That “…government is 100% force for good…” or,

2: “As for believing in God – I believe there is harm done…”

Where’s a poll when you need it?
