I made that takeoff many times and cannot begin to tell you how proud of Sulley I am. It’s a shame that we cannot see what is going on in the cockpit and in Sulley’s head. The public assumes airline pilots are trained but no airline training department would give this assignment to any of its flight crews in its simulators except after the fact. Thats because there is never one answer to such a complex problem. They were amid several airports that they could see the whole time but they were also trying to relight either engine and trying to keep their flight data instruments working. They were talking to ATC and being asked to make decisions while trying to stay in the air. I am amazed that we didn’t hear a STFU at one point in the event. Everyone involved from the flt. crew and the ATC guys to the boat people on the Hudson deserve a WELL DONE!
