Strangely enough, this one doesn’t look so political as it does humanitarian, AND (you better sit down for this) it looks like it doesn’t portray American soldiers as Haliburton stormtroopers, imperialists, neocon tools, or war criminals. I know, I couldn’t believe it either. Such a 180 turn in tone couldn’t possibly be because Bush isn’t in power anymore. Nahhh

I saw the trailer a couple of weeks ago. It looks like a really good movie and I intend to go see it. I didn’t get any type of political vibe from it.
Looks interesting – it would be nice if Hollywood could finally portray the troops as something other than psychopathic war criminals or hapless victims of the eeeeeevil Bush war machine.
Missing form the post:
1) The title of the movie
2) Link to the movie’s web site.
I’d love to know what Michael Yon thinks of it.
Sounds like a book I read a little while ago. Except it is the true story of a British bomb disposal unit (focusing around the author). Amazingly interesting.
I thought it was very funny when one of the actors was like “we were wearing 20 pounds of gear every day in 115 degree heat”… waaahhh waaahhh. Its like a bunch of people I know.. crap what are their names… oh yeah our military. Except our brave men and women don’t get air conditioned trailers and ice cold beverages at their every whim. Boo-friggin-Hoo
The movie is called: “The Hurt Locker”

and it looks like they don’t have an official website but you can find more info and links here:

It will be tempting to go see, but I probably won’t just because of the obvious biased change of heart now that President Bush isn’t in office…kind of makes me sick.
Speaking along the same lines about the Left’s media bias, has anyone noticed that the MSM (at least my local news channels) aren’t showing those military men and women who died in their service to their country anymore? They used to blatantly exploit them, showing their name and photos, on a nightly basis on the local news! I was irritated by it then simply because I knew their agenda WASN’T to HONOR these brave men and women, but to show how terrible President Bush was and that this could be happening to soldiers in a war that they didn’t agree with in the first place!! So, now does no coverage of soldiers dying for their country mean that there haven’t been any brave lives lost since BO has taken office??? Or, does it mean that they are covering up the truth that lives are lost in war because of the nature of war, and they want to mislead the gullible public on how BO is doing so much better than Pres. Bush? Of course, Obama has the privilege of inheriting a much stabler Iraq, due to President Bush’s leadership coupled with an awesome military, but that’s never mentioned either, of course. O.k., enough of my rant, but this gets my blood boiling…
There was a tee vee drama on FX a couple of years ago about Iraq. Lasted only a season but seemed very much from the soldiers POV. Was it a platoon of Marines? Someone must remember the title…It must have been too realistic for the Libs. I never missed it and now can’t remember the name.(
O/T: News reporting that vandals calling themselves Anarchists attacked Union Square and Grant Ave., in SF tonight, breaking windows in high end stores as well as Macys protesting “Capitalism” and throwing fake $100 bills in the streets. I think these thugs are emboldened due to the majority in DC and we’ll see more of these…just like 1938. Next they’ll be targeting people too.
Ann it was called ‘Over there’. I loved it too! Wish it would have continued on, but like you said, reality isn’t where libs actually live.
Yes! Thanks. It was excellent, wasn’t it? In fact, I’d watch it again if it made it to DVD even though the scenario was in the midst of the worst of the war. Still, the actors were so good, I remember their faces and look for them on other shows. I’ll have to check on NetFlix.
