Adopted at birth, wordsmith grew up a military brat. He achieved his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (graduating in the top 97% of his class), where he also competed rings for the UCLA mens gymnastics team. The events of 9/11 woke him from his political slumber and malaise. Currently a personal trainer and gymnastics coach.
The wordsmith has never been to Nantucket.

Mebbe you should re-think the cartoons with the “guns from USA going to Mexico” stuff.
Although the US does provide the demand for the drugs coming our way, from what I’ve read recently, the guns the cartels use seem to be gleaned from other sources — normal overseas gun dealers plus our buddies the Red Chinese, etc. Little is coming directly from the US. That seems to be a train of thought in use to allow for a new “assault” weapons ban, plus any other number of anti-second-amendement actions.
I agree with Dan. The ‘guns from the US’ is a smoke screen. What — are gun smugglers walking into legitimate gun shops, ordering a mess of assault weapons, and waiting for however long it is to get cleared to pick them up? Or are legal US gun owners donating their weapons to the drug cartels? Snort. I don’t think so.
If guns are being smuggled from the US to Mexico, they’re illegal weapons to begin with. So, the answer is SECURE THE BORDER and ENFORCE EXISTING GUN LAWS. Sheesh.
