It’s selfish to believe that we can do a better job helping people via charities, churches, and offering employment rather then the government can by confiscating income.

I think it is telling that Obama insists wanting to keep the money you earn is selfish. What other purpose could earned income have? It’s earned, not bestowed.
Unless, of course, you subscribe to Obamanomics.
I could see where he’s coming from – alleviate the tax burden on the middle class, give them more money so that they spend more, so that the money could circulate in the economy. Good notion, but not for this time. You tax the wealthy now, you tax the companies that employ these people, they’re either going to close down, outsource, or do both. Then all those tax cuts you give will not only drain the government, but it will be for naught if there are no businesses around to buy from.

Looks like we’re getting back to that elite thing again.
By tax cuts Obama means when the Bush tax cuts expire then he will lower taxes from astrnomical Clinton tax increases. Never mind only a fool believes a politician, if he did lower them they would still not be as low as they are now. I would like to know when it became patriotic to want the government to have more money to waste.
The only thing I disagreed with Bush was his faith based iniatives. I have never wanted government in the charity business. It all sounds good, sort of like a lefty idea, but government has too many rules and regulations and historically have tainted the charities they endorse like forcing the Salvation Army to hire gays or churches to hire atheists. Government is incapable of keeping their fingers out of any pie in sight.

Yes, some people are selfish – those who don’t contribute to society expecting the government to hand out the money that other people have worked hard for are selfish.
He wants more tax dollars and plans on making living conditions more expensive also causing middle class job loss.
At least they will receive a yearly tax check from Uncle Sam, paid for by income redistributed from whoever is left working.
