First Piece of Business Obama will Tackle from the Oval Office [Reader Post]

In 2003, Congress passed a bill that was supported by a vast majority of American voters. Obama has already vowed to sign already-proposed legislation into law which would negate the 2003 bill immediately upon entering the Oval Office. The bill Obama opposes is the Partial Birth Abortion Ban which was passed by Congress and upheld by the Supreme Court. On July 17, 2007, Obama told members of Planned Parenthood, “The first thing I’d do as president is sign the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA). That’s the first thing that I’d do.” The content of the two opposing bills offer voters a rare chance to voice their stance on abortion rights through the candidate they support for president. A look at the content of these two bills shows the true extremity of Obama’s support of abortion.

The Partial Birth Abortion Ban which was passed in 2003 was passed with the sole purpose of outlawing one of the most gruesome methods of abortion. This barbaric process is known as “dilation and extraction” and this was the only method of abortion which was limited by the bill which Obama has vowed to overturn by signing FOCA into law. The bill also strictly defined the procedure so there is no chance that other methods would end up fitting the partial birth abortion definition and also be banned. Opponents claimed that this type of procedure was very rare, however, Ron Fitzsimmons, executive director of the National Coalition of Abortion Providers, estimated that the method was used 3,000 to 5,000 times annually.

(Warning: The following testimony is not for the faint of heart, it is a graphic description of an extremely brutal and inhumane procedure.) Nurse Brenda Pratt Shafer gave the most realistic description of this disgusting procedure when she testified to the House Judiciary Committee in 1995 when work first began on the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. Nurse Shafer testified that the nursing firm she worked for place her at an abortion clinic. The position did not bother her because she claimed she was very pro-choice before the assignment. What she saw at the clinic would change her views forever. She told the Judiciary Committee about the first partial birth abortion for which she assisted. Here’s her official testimony, “The mother was six months pregnant… Dr. Haskell brought the ultrasound in and hooked it up so that he could see the baby… As Dr. Haskell watched the baby on the ultrasound screen, the baby’s heartbeat was clearly visible on the ultrasound screen. Dr. Haskell went in with forceps and grabbed the baby’s legs and pulled them down into the birth canal. Then he delivered the baby’s body and the arms, everything but the head. The doctor kept the baby’s head just inside the uterus. The baby’s little fingers were clasping and unclasping, and his feet were kicking. Then the doctor stuck the scissors through the back of his head, and the baby’s arms jerked out in a flinch, a startle reaction, like a baby does when he thinks that he might fall. The doctor opened up the scissors, stuck a high-powered suction tube into the opening and sucked the baby’s brains out. Now the baby was completely limp. I was really completely unprepared for what I was seeing. I almost threw up as I watched the doctor do these things.”

The Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA) was drawn up in 2007 by pro abortion Democrat legislators such as Barbara Boxer, Chuck Schumer, Diane Feinstein, and Hillary Clinton after the Supreme Court upheld the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. Under the findings section of the bill which explains why the bill was written, the 9th finding states, “Further threatening Roe, the Supreme Court recently upheld the first-ever Federal ban on an abortion procedure, which has no exception to protect a woman’s health.” However, this is a flat-out lie because the exact wording of the Partial Birth Abortion Ban has always included this exact exception under Sec. 1531, “This subsection does not apply to a partial-birth abortion that is necessary to save the life of a mother whose life is endangered by a physical disorder, physical illness, or physical injury, including a life-endangering physical condition caused by or arising from the pregnancy itself.”

FOCA does much more than just reverse the Partial Birth Abortion Ban. According to Planned Parenthood, an adamant supporter of FOCA, the legislation will overturn any state laws mandating that parents be notified of a minor seeking an abortion. Planned Parenthood’s FAQ sheet on FOCA states, “Minors have long been included within the protections of Roe. Parental consent or notification statutes have been used as a tool to deny access to abortion services for minors. When such laws deny or interfere with the ability of minors to access abortion services, they would violate FOCA.” However, according to a Zogby International Poll from July 2008, 76% of Americans and 74% of women feel a physician should be legally required to notify parents that their underage daughter is seeking an abortion.

Obama told Planned Parenthood in the same speech where he vowed to sign FOCA into law, “Some people argue that the federal ban on abortion was just an isolated effort aimed at one medical procedure…That presumption is also wrong,” The ban was not the “federal ban on abortion” as Obama labeled it, it was a federal ban on a barbaric procedure with no proven medical benefits. According to an ABC News poll, it was supported by 69% of Americans. His statements show how extreme his pro-abortion views really are. Obama has no intention of working to unite both sides on the abortion debate. He’ll vigorously defend all forms of abortion, no matter how gruesome and heartless they are. This is what the nation will be facing with an Obama presidency and a Democrat super-majority in both houses of Congress.

Partial Birth Abortion is sick and is never medically necessary. It is totally disgusting and should never be done. Delivering a baby except for the head and then crushing the skull and sucking out the brains is cruel and we would never do something this disgusting to a criminal on death row or an animal.

I cannot put into words my thoughts about this practice.

There just aren’t words to express the horror, revulsion, and physical reaction that I have every time a discussion of it comes up.

There are few occasions when this 6’2″ 225lb guy gets teary eyed and shaky. Add in nausea and the urge to throw up.

This subject does that to me.

How anyone can say this is OK is just beyond me.

i have a friend who have never realized what happened in a partial birth abortion. she is steadfastly against abortion anyways when she found this out i thoguht she would come undone. she flipped. if you were to look at the 2 of us you would think that we were liberals, that we would be hangin ten for obama, but we aren’t and we are educating people in our area about obama and his stances. we can’t stand obama and his abortion views, they are sick, would he have this done to his wofe? his daughters? wait, he would, he says a child is punishment, are his kids punishment? partial birth abortion should never be allowed, never. the discription in the post above made me cringe, it proves that the baby is a viable human. this is sick.

I know what the proceedure involves, Ron warned us, but I read through it anyway, no matter how many times you look at it, it’s as horrible to read the 50th time as it was the first time. How anyone could steel themselves enough to accept the violent murder of an innocent baby will always be a question in my mind. There will never be an appropriate answer, nothing like this belongs in a civilized society.

And, this is how Obama cares for the weakest among us.

I just came across this video, I’m just sick about it.

Greetings:

Not to disagree, but I think my count on the “First Thing” Senator Obama will do if he gets into the White House is up to 8 or 10.

@Missy: that made me cry, my god, that is awful. it needs to stop.

@luva the scissors:

Never forget the people that are fighting to allow this. I wanted to send it out in my e-mail, but for some reason it won’t accept my password today. As soon as I get it open I plan to share this video.

It is only done because the baby has a chance to draw breath and scream, becoming an official living human being, with all the rights that entail. Allowing a 28 month old aborted baby to die in a stainless steel kidney dish in the sluice room is not counted as murder. Strange thing is, a lethal injection is thought to be a ‘cruel and unusual punishment’, by the people who support this.

Only a cold hearted person like Obama wouldn’t mind. He has no soul. His has no values. Since he is born he hangs around with American haters(Wrights, Farakkan), terrorists (Ayers, Bernadine), Muslim communist dictators (Odinga), Israel haters (Khalidi), crooks (Resko)… etc.

This is all he knows: Haters. So we cannot expect him to care for an innocent baby. He can’t.

PBA is a horrible proceedure and should be viewed as a human rights issue. I am pro-choice, but within reason. If you are going to abort, there are plenty of viable methods available within the first trimester. The “Mother’s health” argument has been thoroughly discredited by doctors and such testimony was provided to the Supreme Court which they took into consideration in their decision to uphold the ban.

So what is the REAL reason Obama and his socialist companions would want to make all abortion technics legal? There must be a logical reason behind this.

There indeed is. There a few reasons why our government would need abortion and euthanasia under socialism. These are government entitlement systems; Welfare, Socialized Medicine, and Medicare/Medicaid.

The problem with the welfare system is it’s high costs to the government and that it often rewards welfare mothers more money for more children. So how does a socialist government bring that system under control? One simple answer. Simple:

1) By MANDATING abortions for pregnant welfare recipients. In order for the government to enforce such a system, then all forms of abortion at all stages of pregnancy must be on the table.
2) By forcing adoptions of all living children of welfare recipients so the state can care for them. It is already a simple matter for social services to remove children for “abuse”. Living in poverty could certainly be considered abuse, right? Just imagine the savings! It takes a villiage indeed. No need for parents. And of course the children would be beholden to the government for their livelyhood so it’s a granted they would have to repay the debt by mandatory service in the military.
3) If they have no children, all of those women would get the same check. Rather convenient wouldn’t you say? Of course, we could end welfare altogether if they were forced to work and remanded over to government sweat-shops and government dormitory housing. But how do you prevent them from churning out more babies? Mandatory spay and neutering of course. It’s worked wonder for animal control across the country hasn’t it?

Socialized medicine would also be costly especially in the case of children with birth defects. By mandating screening tests of all fetuses and the abortion of any where birth defects are found, those are lives that would not become a drain on a socialized medicine system.

Additional cost savings could also be saved in dealing with the elderly and other patients by having those on socialized medicine and medicare/medicaid roles agree to “Do not rescussitate clauses” when they sign up. It would be simple to slip into the pages of documents. No more need for living wills when you take choice out of it. This would also of course apply to coma and transplant patients, trauma, and accident victims.

And it frees up more government money for propaganda. Refusing to accept such terms would become “unAmerican” and “unpatriotic” in a soviet America. After all, Obama (Oops, I mean Big Brother) knows best for us from cradle to grave right?

You Dems want government running everything? Every “free” entitlement you can get your hands on? Then that’s what’s in store for you. You don’t even have to think, just keep voting the way you do without worrying that your candidates never tell you anything about their positions on issues. Everthing has a cost, even “free money”.

@Missy: ever wonder what would happen if the dems decided to not run with this one? funny thing is, i don’t think that most dems realize this is happening, they only think in black and white and they are all for the black and assume we are all for the white. me personally i think it should be medically needed in any event but never after the first three months unless the mothers life is in danger, then the absolute cutoff should be six months. i feel that i am generous in this, and i really hate to even say that, but hell after coinception it really should never happen. its not a choice i would make, my kids are everything to me. this issue really sucks. really really sucks. the poor babies, my heart is with them.

luva, here’s another video that Right to Life put out:

http://www.teamsarah.org/video/2330231:Video:21495

Missy: the audio of that ad is running all over Georgia. It might be on the Florida radio stations too. I hope so.

They put a lot into the 1 minute 3 second ad, keep the faith with the Georgians. Also, another group is going to flood the airwaves all over with Jeremiah Wright. Hope it all finally sinks in to what is parading about with a lot of stinky baggage thinking he’s presidential material.

So sick… And we let this guy into the white house?

I don’t understand how anyone could think this is OK. Whether they are religious or not, everyone has some kind of conscience…

There was a point in time when I almost supported Obama, before I really knew much about him. I never really considered myself a full on Republican or Democrat. I was more a combination of both, and I guess I still am. There is NO way I will EVER support Obama at this point. He has completely lost any respect or trust I ever had towards him. This is just one more of SO many issues he is so wrong about. I watched the inauguration today, and my stomach is knotted up tighter than it’s ever been. I am truly frightened for what is going to happen over the next 4 years (if it end up being 8 I’m moving to Antarctica). I pray that Obama will be prompted to do the right things, but my hope is not strong. Any leader who would torture BABIES, of all of God’s creations… I don’t even know what to say anymore. Obama has absolutely broken my heart.

Well, Obama is sitting in church right now. Is he pondering as soon as the service is over does he motorcade to the White House and undo all the protections for the unborn right away, or after lunch?
