I firmly believe that the pivotal issue in the 2008 election will not be Iraq, Iran, or healthcare, or social security reform, or anything like that. It will be the left’s focus on cutting the word “God” from anything and everything related to government, and the typical American’s religious gutcheck in reply. Alan Colmes and Newt Gingrich discussed it the other night, and Colmes tried to ask what seemed a reasonable question, “Why can’t people keep their religion personal, private, or in their congregations?” My answer is simple (and I’m far from being a regular church-goer let alone Bible thumper), it’s because our morals come from our faith, and the place to apply our morals is in our community, and governments rule our community. There must be a separation of power between church and state, but not a separation of appreciation, respect, and acknowledgment. If we completely cut the tie between the two, then we get more trouble than we need. Look, having the word “God” spotted in places throughout our government hasn’t been a problem for centuries, so if it ain’t broke, I say don’t “fix” it particularly since there’s so much other crap that IS broke and DOES need fixin’!

Love that picture but you left out the Fries parking lot.
