Go Navy!

Now this is one hell of a picture:

Click on the picture to get the hi-res version.

It's a picture of U.S. Navy aircraft carriers USS Ronald Reagan (front), USS Kitty Hawk (middle) and USS Abraham Lincoln (back) as they sail in formation at the start of Valiant Shield 2006 in the Philippine Sea, June 18, 2006.

The DoD website states:

As the largest joint exercise in recent history, it encompasses 28 naval vessels, nearly 300 aircraft and approximately 22,000 servicemembers from the Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps and Coast Guard.

Want another one:

The Kitty Hawk, Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Groups sail in formation, while Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps aircraft fly overhead during the photo portion of Exercise Valiant Shield 2006.

Now I'm a old groundpounding Marine but this is still a beautiful sight!

More?

An SH-60F Seahawk lands prior to the beginning of night flight operations aboard the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan

An Air Force B-2 bomber along with other aircrafts from the Air Force, Navy and Marine Corps fly over the Kitty Hawk, Ronald Reagan and Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike groups during the photo portion of Exercise Valiant Shield 2006.

And my favorite:

I haven’t seen the Kitty Hawk since 1973 or 74! Nice to see she is still steaming and Bravo Zulu to the Navy. I was proud to be active duty Navy 1967-70 and 1973-79.

Wow! These photos are impressive! I’m an old destroyer officer myself (USNR 1971-74) and it does my heart good to see these images, in the Philippine Sea, no less. I bet that stretch of the Pacific hasn’t seen a sight this impressive since the days of “Murderer’s Row.”
