On my earlier post I talked a bit about the unhinged left and their routine of attacking those who disagree with them. Now Michelle Malkin has a post up where she details the threats and insults being spewed her way because she believes those at UC Santa Cruz should have to pay for what they did to those recruiters:

As I said in my earlier post, this is typical behavior from these folks. Some wrote to me complaining about my stand, stating that it’s just a few kooky ones, most of the left are good natured intelligent folks.
To which I said baloney. I would say it’s the other way around from my experience. A few calm reasoned leftists exist but the majority are unhinged today. What caused this I can only surmise it’s Bush Derangement Syndrome.
We have all seen them on KOS and DummiesU. Seen them at their protests and on TV. They are almost all composed of immature idiots incapable of honest debate. Once you disagree with them all they know is insults.
Out of the hundreds of leftists who have commented on my blog I can count on my hand the number of times someone actually gave a well reasoned thought, without insults, without hyperbole.
But this latest display at UC Santa Cruz and the attack on Michelle just shine the spotlight on a growing movement in the left. Immaturity.

For the record, I find comments on Kos to be about at the level of comments on RedState (and roughly at the level of this site as well). Democratic Underground seems to be the mirror of Free Republic. I don’t really know any site on the left that is quite as obscene and obnoxious as LGF.
I am a liberal, so I understand that my perspective is different than that of a conservative. I can fully accept that honest conservatives may assess the landscape a bit differently. But to say that it is all one way, or that being a slimy a**hole is a property of one side, not the other, is just totally dishonest.
I realize that you write for yourself. But to the extent that you really believe in the positions that you hold, and in some sense wish those views to be more widely accepted, you gotta know that this self-indulgent, willfully blind ranting just makes you and your cause look unappealing. If you can’t characterize accurately something that we all can see in front of our faces (the blogosphere), then how can we even think about granting you the slightest benefit of the doubt when you speak on other issues?
All are guilty in the war of words. On this page alone I read multiple derogatory comments about people from both sides of the political spectrum. Saying all but a few leftists are “unhinged” is about as true as saying all righties are Bible-thumping nutjobs.
Malkin’s actions were reprehensible. There is no denying it. She is an adult and an experienced journalist and she knows that publishing personal contact information is unethical. The fact that other sites posted the same information does not excuse her. It simply makes those posters equally guilty. By the same token, anyone who issues a death threat or resorts to juvenile insults because they disagree with someone’s oppinion deserves little attention and zero respect.
The kids at UC Santa Cruz kept the protest peaceful (nobody was hurt) and the recruiters were allowed on campus in a separate area from the job fair. Personally, I disagree with the students in SAW on this particular demonstration. Everyone has the right to choose their own career path and that includes people who want to join the military. But I will support their right to hold a protest and voice their opinions.
I’m shocked that you would reprint these phone numbers yourself under the ridiculas guise of a quote.
Go ahead; pretend that the students’ information is publicly available. The fact is you have published it on your blog–which attracts those who share the sentiments of the people sending death threats to a bunch of idealistic kids. Surely you don’t think all your readers are sane because they read you?

I agree with Curt, Tano. In my experience, while you CAN find instances from both sides, the overwhelming majority of unhinged vulgarity is becoming more mainstreamed in the left. You want to call right-wing talk radio “hate radio”? Just tune into Air America. There’s no comparison between that and center-right talk radio pundits like Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, and Michael Medved. Crass and devoid of class when Hollywood liberals spew their hatred in vile and vitriole. When you compare protestors on the left and protestors from the right, which side is more likely to bring signs that shamelessly swear up and down? Signs laden with obscenities and offensive images? T-shirts and slogans with the “F”-word?
