Somebody Should Tell Nikki Haley That She Didn’t Win the Super Bowl

by Stephen Kruiser

Since Sunday night is a work night for me, I didn’t opt for the imbibing of the Super Bowl beer. We will soon know if a Super Bowl party and comfort food hangover is a thing. Oh, the chili. Even though I’m a huge fan, I don’t do a lot of sports stuff here in the Briefing, but I will share this:

I like to combat winter with extra helpings of whimsy.

This seems hard to believe, but it’s been almost a month since we’ve kicked things off here at the top with some ribbing of Nikki Haley. As long as she is hanging around, I would be shirking my duties if I didn’t use this platform to mock this most delusional of presidential campaigns.

Haley’s insistence that her continued presence in the race isn’t mere folly was understandable for a while. Even candidates with the slimmest of chances can talk themselves into believing that their viability is far greater than it ever was, is, or will be. Politicians at that level have huge egos, after all. Surround them with a bunch of money people who feed them with a steady diet of “Yes, you can!” and they can coast along for a while without letting reality intervene.

As long as the money keeps flowing, a candidate can stay on the campaign trail. Super-rich political donors have gobs of money to throw at longshot candidates who might give them a return on their investment. Nikki Haley has the added bonus of being funded by some Democrats who want her to stay in the race simply to badmouth Donald Trump.

The GOP electorate isn’t as on board with that idea as the former ambassador would like to think. Chris recently wrote about the latest polling on that:

Republican voters have been thinking about it, too, and a new Daily Mail/TIPP insights poll reveals what they think about the Haley Train chugging on.

“Republican voters by a huge margin say former South Carolina Gov Nikki Haley should drop her bid for the GOP presidential nomination, as her chances of catching up to front-runner Donald Trump are ‘negligible,'” TIPP reports. “Fully 57 percent of registered Republican primary voters say Haley should exit the race, our DailyMail.com/TIPP poll shows. Less than a third say she should keep running; another 13 percent said they were not sure.”

A whopping 70% of voters surveyed say “yes” or “maybe” to Haley leaving the race. It’s hard to ignore that kind of response.

Despite the fact that Trump has had a comfortable lead in primary polling from the get-go, I understand that not everyone in the GOP is a huge fan of his. We seem to be reaching a point where even the people who are the most lukewarm — or even cold — about Trump are beginning to understand that it is time to start shoring things up for November.

I’m quite perplexed when I see conservative writers publish articles that apply conventional election wisdom and rules to the 2024 United States presidential contest. Trump and the Republicans gave conventional wisdom a major hit in 2016. The Democrats flushed it down the toilet in 2020.

In almost any other election, it would be normal to indulge a candidate in the primaries who had the cash flow and self-confidence to keep going until voters were finished having their say.

Now more than ever though, there is a strong case for acknowledgement of the inevitable and the coalescing of support behind who we all know will be the nominee.

The Democrats’ legal harassment of Donald Trump is not a valid reason for fence-sitting or indulging fantasies about alternative candidates.

Many writers on both sides of the aisle have noted that Trump is running as a de facto incumbent this year.

Nikki is not running to win.
She is running to draw independents away and sideliners’ to stay on their couches.
She is running to make it look like Trump is being hectored from BOTH sides, not just from the Left.
She will run until her money bags empty.
And that means until the Left is done with her.
Shades of Cindy (everybody on the Left’s bestie until the money’s gone) Sheehan.

Nan, you are so right. Haley was recruited by the never-Trumpers, like those of the Lincoln Project. And when they get tired of propping her up financially, she will go home.

Nikki Haley has positioned herself to become the GOP’s candidate when Trump goes down in court.

Haley has a wider national poll lead in a race against Biden than Trump does, and Trump’s lead is slipping.

Interesting. But she cannot win a primary. Looks to be resoundingly defeated in her home state of South Carolina primary and for all intents and purposes will go down in flames on Super Tuesday.

But thanks for the laugh.

She may not need to win the primary. This is like no other presidential race and will likely get even stranger.

Yeah
Like when are they going to pull joey?

joey can’t win an election for municipal dog warden.

Trump’s lead over Biden has fallen to 1.9%. It’s so narrow that a girl pop singer could sink his boat.

Or Joe can sink his own boat. Snacks lol

Yeah, leave it to Democrats to vote for an incompetent, mentally unfit, corrupt, treasonous pedophile because some song singer says so. The rest of us will vote for the most competent person, TRUMP.

Has anyone informed Eric Adams that calling blacks “chocolate” is bigotry?

Or is it bigotry to call a self proclaimed lesbian a lesbian?

“Hussein” is, in fact, Obama’s middle name, but the people who made a point of mentioning it were doing it as an attack. TrumpWon’s use of “chocolate lesbian” seems like the same thing. Is there a reason to mention her race and sexuality in that context?

Last edited 15 days ago by Michael

Yep. Insults can fly both ways.

Ironic you consider “chocolate” and “lesbian”, which both apply to KJP, bigoted or insulting.

Last edited 15 days ago by retire05

Is there some reason to mention her race and sexuality in that context?

Sadly, yes. Those factors, in addition to her gender, are why she was put in that position, not her competence. So, actually, the sexist/racist is Robin Ware/Robert L. Peters/JRB Ware/Pedo Peter/idiot Biden, who, being incompetent himself, only cares about checking boxes, not competent personnel.

“Those factors, in addition to her gender, are why she was put in that position”

Source?

NY Mayor Adams referred to black people as “chocolate” last week, so you can put your well-worn race card back in its sleeve.

So saith the racist.

I know Adam’s is racist. He’s a Democrat, isn’t he?

This guy is a wasted space.

Why is there a black national anthem?

Last edited 15 days ago by TrumpWon

Because the very people who claim America is “systemically” racist are systemically racist – against white people.

If we also had an Hispanic national anthem, a Muslim national anthem, a Vietnamese nation anthem, a Chinese national anthem, a Japanese national anthem, a French national anthem, a German national anthem, etc, etc, etc, then we can really bring everyone together and unify the nation, Democrat-style.

There isnt one, that idea is some racist bullshit.

There isn’t. It’s a church hymn dating from 1900. The words were written by James Weldon Johnson, and the music by his brother. It was written to commemorate the birth of Abraham Lincoln:

Lift every voice and sing,
’Til earth and heaven ring,
Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;
Let our rejoicing rise
High as the listening skies,
Let it resound loud as the rolling sea.
Sing a song full of the faith that the dark past has taught us,
Sing a song full of the hope that the present has brought us;
Facing the rising sun of our new day begun,
Let us march on ’til victory is won.

Stony the road we trod,
Bitter the chastening rod,
Felt in the days when hope unborn had died;
Yet with a steady beat,
Have not our weary feet
Come to the place for which our fathers died.
We have come over a way that with tears has been watered,
We have come, treading our path through the blood of the slaughtered,
Out from the gloomy past,
’Til now we stand at last
Where the white gleam of our bright star is cast.

God of our weary years,
God of our silent tears,
Thou who has brought us thus far on the way;
Thou who has by Thy might
Led us into the light,
Keep us forever in the path, we pray.
Lest our feet stray from the places, our God, where we met Thee,
Lest our hearts drunk with the wine of the world, we forget Thee;
Shadowed beneath Thy hand,
May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land.

Predictably downvoted.

“…May we forever stand,
True to our God,
True to our native land…”

YOU are downvoted, not the song. It’s not the song that’s racist, it’s the idea that one group rejects the Star Spangled Banner as their national anthem and claims another.

There isn’t. It’s a church hymn dating from 1900.

My, my, my. A “Christian” church hymn? If it was white people doing this you would be crapping your Hanes. You would be claiming that it was insulting to Muslim, Jews, Buddhist, Sikhists or any other religion you could think of.

You’re a hypocritical piece of crap.

You invented a scenario, and then you invented Greg’s reponse to it, and then you got angry at him over the things you invented.

I invented nothing, groomer. I simply understand how Comrade Greggie’s mind works. He’s been spewing his crap here for years.

If those things didn’t happen, you invented them.

Why are you so defensive when it comes to Comrade Greggie? Are you afraid he’ll dump you as his buttboy?

A troll, fishing…

You call anyone you don’t agree with a troll.

You’re the f*cking troll and have been for years and years.

…jiggling the hook…baited with moronic insults…

Your go-to insult is homosexual innuendo, as if it’s 1975 or something. News flash: nobody cares about homosexuality any more except for you very old people.

You are out of touch groomer, the educational system is losing its queer grip new trend trad wife, canning, home schooling. You really need to look outside your rainbow bubble.

I see you didn’t answer my question.

Oh, look… the gif white flag of surrender.

Gee, you just described the lefts reaction to Trump!

Massive, widespread Democrat election fraud in 2020 was pretty strange.

That may be so, Biden isnt going to make it, I wonder if Kamela will boot the widow so she can be in the WH for a few weeks or months, or they will force Joey to pull from the race, replacement wont be his VP, she is only there as a shield for impeachment, her position now is well over her head DEI in action.
Trump is well aware of his age and needs to choose a person that can step into the position as President, Im sure he will, they keep saying it must be a female to garner votes, I cant think of one that I would feel comfortable with in the GOP.
I have a short list General Flynn. He would quickly divorce the woke from the armed services, organize the deportations freeing Trump to flush the foreign policy of the 3rd Obama term.

Gen Flynn needs to be in a position to seek out and destroy the deep state. He needs also to be able to seek vengeance for what they did to him and his family. Justice would be vengeance.

Maybe in 2028 for now we need to cover the basics, deportation and military rebuild.
Breaking up their commie take over is vengence.
Are you thinking head of CIA?

Know why Trump’s in court? Because he’s MENTALLY ABLE! BWAA, HA, HA, HA, HA, HA!

None of your little lawfare cases will see the light of day before the election.

If elected, do you expect Trump to end the Federal cases against himself?

WATCH: Delusional Nikki Haley Insists She Will Beat Donald Trump During CNN Appearance

Not gonna happen.

02/12/24 – Trump does the impossible. He sinks even lower

…Trump first alarmingly stated that he would encourage Russian to do “whatever the hell they want” to NATO allies that didn’t meet the alliance’s military spending guidelines. He then turned his attention to his GOP presidential opponent Nikki Haley.

That is when Trump did something we’ve never seen from a major political party candidate: Use the active military deployment of a spouse to ridicule an opponent. Trump — who never served in the US military — told the crowd that Haley had visited him at Mar-a-Lago along with her husband, Maj. Michael Haley, and had allegedly assured him that she would never run against him.

Trump — who is currently out on bail in connection with criminal charges he faces in Georgia (he denies any wrongdoing) — then declared to the crowd, “Where’s her husband? Oh, he’s away. He’s away.” Trump then leaned into the mocking, quipping, “What happened to her husband? What happened to her husband?! Where is he?! He’s gone. He knew. He knew.”

What exactly Michael Haley “knew” is anyone’s guess, especially given Trump’s recent mental gaffes and confusion, such as bizarrely claiming Nikki Haley was in charge of security for the US Capitol on January 6, 2021 when she didn’t hold any position in government. Some have suggested that Trump was insinuating the major left for full time deployment — the second of his career — to “escape” Haley.

The desperation of the attack suggests Haley has gotten deep under Trump’s thin skin. In recent weeks, she repeatedly has called out his gaffes — even going as far as handing out mental competency tests to voters at a recent rally — as she bucks him by continuing her campaign for the Republican nomination.

Haley responded swiftly to Trump’s attack on her husband, whom she’s described as her “rock,” by posting on social media, “Michael is deployed serving our country, something you know nothing about.” She added, “Someone who continually disrespects the sacrifices of military families has no business being commander in chief.”

Haley — who has frequently spoken at campaign events about her love for her husband — also addressed the comments at a rally in her home state. “If you mock the service of a combat veteran, you don’t deserve a driver’s license, let alone being president of the United States,” she told the audience. The former US ambassador to the United Nations then challenged Trump to show the nation whether he has any guts, saying, “Donald, if you have something to say, don’t say it behind my back; get on a debate stage and say it to my face.”

Do you simply never tire of grasping at desperate, pathetic straws by lying about Trump’s remarks? Of the exceptionally informed people here, who do you think you are fooling?

Greg told no lies about Trump’s remarks. It’s all out there for everyone to see.
