Obama Stands Up For Wisconsin Public Service Unions

Governor Scott Walker, of Wisconsin unveiled his plans to salvage the economy and budget of Wisconsin. His plan calls for sweeping legislation that will weaken public employee rights and bargaining ability.

State officials alerted the Wisconsin State Employee unions that expired collective bargaining contracts will be terminated on March 13. A budget repair bill also unveiled will do away with all collective bargaining rights for nearly all public employees and make it much easier to fire employees.

Whenever money is at stake, teachers’ unions invariably resort to the emotional canard of

“It’s for the children.”

But inevitably when the budget ax falls, it always falls on whatever the children like the most. Generally, teachers’ unions are so avaricious that they would rather see positions eliminated rather than accept a small sacrifice. Chris Christie proved that last fall. Democrats even cut funding for food stamps in order to stuff $24 million into teachers’ unions.

Tunisia’s former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali found a safe haven in Saudi Arabia on Friday, he was prevented from landing in Paris by President Sarkozy, while Tunisia has devolved into near chaos. Ben Ali, the 74 year old president, took power after a bloodless coup in ’87 as a Social Democrat. In an all too typical scenario of Marxist leaders, he established an authoritarian police state: while the country was mired in poverty, he and the Elites established a system of government based on nepotism and corruption, while living in opulent luxury.
