Deafening silence: Democratic candidates completely ignore Mexican cartel murders of 9 Americans

Loading

From the Christchurch massacre to the deaths of Gaza protesters, Democratic candidates for president have spoken out against violence in foreign countries, especially when Americans are among the victims. It’s natural for Americans to be outraged when our fellow nationals are killed abroad just as it’s usually expedient for politicians to latch onto these events and attach them to one or more of their policies. But there are certain taboos, especially for Democrats, in which the best option is to ignore anything happened at all. The infuriating story of American women and children gunned down and burned to death by a Mexican drug cartel is such a taboo.

Nearly two days after the news of the tragic murders broke, the total number of upset Tweets, official statements of condolence, or even acknowledgement that the heinous crimes occurred currently sits at zero. In fact, they aren’t even willing to attack President Trump after having his offer to assist with the problem rejected by Mexican President Obrador. To hit him on it would mean acknowledging the crimes took place, and that’s something Democrats will vehemently ignore at all costs.

The reasons for their silence are much more complicated than they appear on the surface. The obvious answer, as was mentioned in comments to Tweets noticing the absence of a response from Democrats, is that their candidates believe their Hispanic base doesn’t want to feel like they’re being condemned by politicians running for office. This is a false assumption as the vast majority of Hispanics in America are adamantly opposed to Mexican drug cartels for the same reason other Americans are. The cartels represent evil and disdain for human life. Just because the perpetrators of these hideous murders are Hispanic doesn’t mean law-abiding Hispanic-Americans support them in any way. If anything, Mexican Americans are more inclined to have strong negative emotions towards the cartels.

The biggest reason for the Democrats’ silence is because their policies regarding the border would encourage extending the cartels’ reach into the United States. Some of the policies proposed, especially frontrunner Elizabeth Warren’s, represent de facto open borders. These policies would hamper law enforcement’s ability to stop them while creating new avenues for cartels to not only smuggle drugs into America, but also establish a wider presence of their own within our borders.

Will any journalists with access to the candidates ask them their thoughts on the disturbing crimes that took the lives of nine American citizens? Will they get their stances on the drug cartels and how they plan to prevent them from having a stronger presence in America? These are questions Americans need answered and now is the time to ask them, but don’t expect mainstream media to do its job in this regard.

I don’t know if I’ve known any illegal immigrants, but I know and have worked with a lot of hard working LEGAL immigrants and they do not appreciate the free pass illegal immigrants get from Democrats. Sure, there are Hispanics that view bloating the Hispanic population here with illegal immigrants as a pathway to future power and control, but those who came here with nothing , worked hard and built a productive life… LEGALLY despise the illegal culture. Democrats damn sure don’t appreciate this fact.

Bring up how this tragic slaughter just about makes the case for completing the wall (Mexico is becoming a failed state; they have neither the power nor the will to take on the cartels and drug-hungry Americans aren’t helping the situation) their response is, “that’s stupid”. No elaboration or rationalization… just dismissal, because they don’t have the brains or the guts to face the FACTS.

Perhaps the candidates haven’t figured out how to spin this tragedy to benefit them politically, like they do EVERY tragedy, in lieu of actually caring about American lives.

socialists are not interested in the common man, but only in the elitists of the party. mexico is a failed state beginning in 1995 with a decline of the GDP of 6.2%. Again in 2010, the GDP dropped 6.5% mexico is a shithole and the economy is in shambles. the military and security forces are all tied to the drug cartels.

Perhaps the candidates haven’t figured out how to spin this tragedy to benefit them politically, like they do EVERY tragedy, in lieu of actually caring about American lives.

Whereas Trump and his followers figured it out almost immediately…

How can we justify not putting a double fence and armed guards we dont have to wait the NYT has already begun. Dont legally immigrate into Mexico with your stinking bible.

@Greg: Just behave like this is an isolated incident, The interior department said in 2018 there were 15,973 homicides in the first six months of the year, compared with 13,751 killings in the same period in 2017.

@Greg:

Whereas Trump and his followers figured it out almost immediately…

Yeah? How? I wonder if they’ll find any of Holder and Obama’s weapons involved?

@kitt:

It isn’t at all isolated. This sort of horror happens frequently in the cartel-controlled areas of Mexico and Central America, and has been going on for quite a long time. Suddenly it’s news here because the victims were from the United States. It’s one of the reasons for refugees flowing north. The unfortunate American party of family and friends traveled in the other direction seeking a place where polygamy is lawful. To my mind, you’d need some compelling reason to go to a place where you know serious danger is constantly present. I was on the road in Mexico with a buddy nearly 50 years ago, after Vietnam. I wouldn’t dream of that now, and it’s not just because I’m old.

The uptick in U.S. homicides is most likely a result of the fact that we’ve absolutely flooded the nation with firearms of every description. This is a land where homicides can and do occur because someone cut ahead in a line waiting for a chicken sandwich, or because of real or imagined things that happen in traffic. We have increased the likelihood that impulsive, irresponsible, and downright crazy people will have a gun at such a moment simply by increasing the number of guns available.

I think there’s no relationship between illegal immigration and the incident of homicides. After all, Trump has supposedly cut illegal immigration greatly during the same time that homicides have gone up. This isn’t to deny that some homicides are committed by illegal immigrants. Most identifiable demographic groups will include people who commit violent crimes.

@Greg: Its a failed State the President of Mexico folded to the cartels like a cheap socialist made suit. He answers “We declared war, and it didn’t work,” said Lopez Obrador. “That is not an option. ” So 30,000 of his citizens die a year because he has been gelded by criminals.
The uptick in U.S. homicides is most likely a result of the fact that we’ve absolutely flooded the nation with firearms of every description. show the statistics murder rates have actually gone down as gun ownership went up.

Even the Los Angeles Times sided with the drug cartels over the Mormons who were murdered!
https://www.latimes.com/world-nation/story/2019-11-06/mormons-mexico-lebaron-fundamentalist-history
Quote from bottom of LA Times article:

“The LeBaron name in recent decades has been most often linked to violence. Unfortunately, this incident only adds to that association.”

Unbelievable!

The Leftist politicians and their Leftist media are in bed with the illegals.
Their confusion stems from people like Nancy Pelosi who said MS13 members have the “spark of divinity” in them.
Meanwhile she stumps for more liberal abortion laws/practices.

The LATimes seems confused about the difference between Mexicans who flee the drug cartels, the gangs who hide among them and sneak in, too, and Hispanics born here.
To risk offending any of those people leads to stupid sayings like the one blaming the Mormon victims.

(Oh, and PS, I have no special love for Mormons. But violent, they are not.)

@Greg:

I think there’s no relationship between illegal immigration and the incident of homicides.

Well, except for the homicides committed by illegal immigrants. Those are pretty much directly related to illegal immigration and the sanctuary policies of Democrats. We need a separation between that failing state and our citizens.

@Nan G: I have no special love for any religious sect,they made a fatal error moving into a failed state. They are now among the 30, 000 citizens of Mexico murdered yearly, that their cowardly President refused to protect.

BTW, Mexico has about 100,000 murders per year or about 60 murders per day.
Yikes!
