What’s all the hubbub about? A story from 2021:
An upside-down flag — adopted by Trump supporters contesting Biden’s election win — flew over Justice Samuel Alito’s lawn in January 2021 as the Supreme Court considered an election case. Trump supporters had rioted at the Capitol a little over a week before. Alito has not recused himself from a single case involving Jan. 6 or efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The highest court continues to have the lowest ethics standards — and they’ve done nothing to address the problem. Why are the Court’s employees being held to higher standards than the Justices themselves? This cannot fly. Literally.
Here’s the story behind their frothing at the mouth. Shannon Bream:
I spoke directly with Justice #Alito about the flag story in the NYT. In addition to what’s in the story, he told me a neighbor on their street had a “F— Trump” sign that was within 50 feet of where children await the school bus in Jan 21. Mrs. Alito brought this up with the neighbor.
According to Justice Alito, things escalated and the neighbor put up a sign personally addressing Mrs. Alito and blaming her for the Jan 6th attacks. Justice Alito says he and his wife were walking in the neighborhood and there were words between Mrs. Alito and a male at the home with the sign. Alito says the man engaged in vulgar language, “including the c-word”.
Following that exchange, Mrs. Alito was distraught and hung the flag upside down “for a short time”. Justice Alito says some neighbors on his street are “very political” and acknowledges it was a very heated time in January 2021.
The above dems obviously believe that wives should be seen and not heard. Now for the facts from someone who knows what’s what- Margot Cleveland:
There is no scandal! I served as career law clerk for federal appellate judge for ~25 years, 6 of which I assisted with Codes of Conduct inquiries. While those rules don’t apply to Supreme Court justices, the justices apply the same principles. The difference being there is much more detail for lower courts, including that judges are barred from displaying political signs. BUT the rules also make clear that doesn’t apply to spouses.
In fact, the Codes of Conduct committee made that point clear through advise. Yes, Judge should discourage, but NO Judge is not “boss” of his spouse and no ethical violation is spouse decides to post a political sign. Of course, Mrs. Alito didn’t display a political sign, but even accepting the concocted revisionist narrative that an upside-down flag is a stop the steal flag, that is not an ethical issue for Justice Alito. The recusal claim is equally ridiculous.
A reasonable person, knowing all of the fact, would not believe there is any bias because “all of the facts” are that Mrs. Alito raised the flag, it had nothing to do with “Stop the Steal,” it had nothing to do with Justice Alito, 3 years ago, and nothing to do with legal questions. The supposed “ethics experts” saying otherwise are either ignorant or politically motivated.
And as for Whitehouse:
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse’s wife reportedly belongs to an ALL-WHITE private club called Bailey’s Beach in Rhode Island. She also owns part of the club.

Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D., R.I.) was the subject of an ethics complaint last month accusing him of steering legislation that proved beneficial to his wife’s consulting business and clients.
Conservative watchdog Judicial Watch filed a complaint with the Senate Ethics Committee urging them to investigate Whitehouse for potential conflicts of interest connected to his wife Sandra Whitehouse’s consulting business.
“There is strong evidence that Senator Sheldon Whitehouse may have violated Senate ethics conflicts of interest rules. The Senate Ethics Committee should immediately investigate this serious issue,” said Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton.
The ironically named Whitehouse is wreaking havoc on his own glass house.
This is one more windmill which will survive the democrat Quixotes. It is a sign of increasing desperation. We’ll be waiting to see what novel bit of nonsense comes next.

Lectures on ethics from people that HAVE no ethics. It is clear that only a far left socialist revisionist rubber-stamp Supreme Court is the only thing the far left Democrats will ever accept or support. Just as they view the general population, anyone with a view other than their own is nothing short of a criminal.
The very first line of defense for leftists in every case is to demand any judge not fully under their control to recuse themselves. Yet, in cases such as the clearly compromised Engoron, Merchan or Sotomayor, the left NEVER recuses. In actual fact, THEIR bias is the whole point of them being there.
