A former fetus, the “wordsmith from nantucket” was born in Phoenix, Arizona in 1968. Adopted at birth, wordsmith grew up a military brat. He achieved his B.A. in English from the University of California, Los Angeles (graduating in the top 97% of his class), where he also competed rings for the UCLA mens gymnastics team. The events of 9/11 woke him from his political slumber and malaise. Currently a personal trainer and gymnastics coach.
The wordsmith has never been to Nantucket.
Just my little contribution to the memory of our fallen. May they rest in peace in the loving arms of the one true God.

Never has the first 5 minutes of a film affected me so much emotionally even though I didn’t know who the old man was. It was clear, however, to me that there was real purpose connected to events of a long time ago. As I began to see the scope of the cemetery, I was truly overcome and had difficulty holding back the tears. No, I didn’t know that was Private Ryan, I just knew it was a veteran on a mission to “see” someone he once knew. I was drained after this opening sequence and when the violence of the invasion began I had to leave. Never saw the rest of the film.
