That video is totally despicable. Those people are brain dead. They are the typical empty headed liberal who wants to be thought of as important and committed. They aren’t interested in thinking or researching because its easier to just commit to something that sounds good and lets them feel a part of something bigger than themselves. They have no idea that the world is not a two dimensional game board. Let’s free 1 million slaves over the next 5 years. What will they do now that they are freed? How will you stop them from being enslaved again? Does it matter that your actions encourage people to kidnap and raid for slaves because you are paying to release them.?
Why do they need to pledge in the first place? Why not just do good in your immediate part of the world quietly and without announcement? For them it would negate the whole purpose since they just want to use the pledge to feel self important. In the very young such blindness is expected; they haven’t learned that there is an elaborate system and you can’t just reach in and fix things without understanding the causes and planning for the effects of your changes. As a young person you feel that by wanting badly enough you can accomplish anything. Obama is acting like the Pied Piper and seducing the young people into believing in a fantasy rather than acting like an adult and pointing out the pitfalls and showing them how to best direct their efforts. It is sickening to see people so busy talking about doing good and getting such a buzz off it without really doing anything at all. The best part is that they pledge to that empty shirt Obama to direct their efforts and he has not done anything to help anyone other than political favors, and hopefully Michelle and his daughters, in his life. Its particularly repellent that many of the things they pledge to do are wrong headed and actually have a bad effect like getting a hybrid car, which is harder on the earth because of the manufacturing and battery disposal. But it all sounds good.

I would avoid movies, etc. of many of these actors, but I only recognize a couple anyway.

This made my stomach hurt for these kids. I homeschool — it’s a hard job. But I just have to do it. I love how curriculum choices are growing – this year the kids are taking some online classes at Veritas Scholars Academy.

This is all about Power, Control and an Agenda that I reject on the basis that goes against everything I believe in. I am a career Soldier, having pledged to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America for the past 23 years. I cannot, do not, and will not pledge to support any particular individual, especially this “one” over my country. I’ve been to war, and no – it was not for oil, or imperial reasons, but for liberty, freedom and the chance for people to choose their own destinies.
What DO I pledge? I pledge to remain certain that my voter registration remains current in my home state. I pledge to remain even more current on issues than I already am. I pledge, that when it is time to vote, I VOTE.

Just came back from a neighborhood association meeting (sounded like a recent health care townhall) …no neighborhood topics were discussed, instead parents adamantly voiced their upset with this attempt to propagandize their children.
I counted 17 parents saying they were pulling their children out of school that day — as the local school refused to allow them to attend during these activities…also, many neighbors relayed making phone calls, emails to WH and to our US Congressman, and Senators…we’ll all be on the newest WH “list”…but whatever.

If I were the parents of these children, I would be all over the school principal and the school board and demand a public apology and a promise that left wing propoganda would be left outside shool property. After all they are paying for the school. I haven’t heard that is happening. Must all be left wing non-thinking freaks. I don’t know what they are smoking but the Protests at the Town Hall meetings sent a message. No one in DC got it. The message will get louder as the deficit and unemployment grows which it will in the coming months. If Obama and the leadership (little L) in Congress do not get it He won’t last until 2010. I’ve been to war, and no – it was not for oil, or imperial reasons, but for liberty, freedom and the chance for people to choose their own destinies.
What DO I pledge? I pledge to remain certain that my voter registration remains current in my home state. I pledge to remain even more current on issues than I already am. I pledge, that when it is time to vote, I VOTE.

Just came back from a neighborhood association meeting (sounded like a recent health care townhall) …no neighborhood topics were discussed, instead parents adamantly voiced their upset with this attempt to propagandize their children.
I counted 17 parents saying they were pulling their children out of school that day — as the local school refused to allow them to attend during these activities…also, many neighbors relayed making phone calls, emails to WH and to our US Congressman, and Senators…we’ll all be on the newest WH “list”…but whatever.
I guess we were not alone…Good News seems to be surfacing about backing off on at least some content of this planned propaganda event..

I think it’s great to vocalize about volunteering or improving our country…but…we should not be pledging to be a “servant to our President.” MUCH LESS SHOW THIS TO OUR CHILDREN…and encourage them to this mind set?
Further — lot of problems in California — budgets burst supporting enormous number of non-essential social programs/spending, slave trafficking in San Francisco continues, Central Valley Farmers’ water getting cut off??? etc, etc, etc. where is all that “I pledge” for their own backyard? They could use their status to be helping save their own state!!!
