No Obamopolis It Seems, Instead We Get Clintonville

It seems the MSM is a bit perplexed over the Obama appointments. Wasn’t he about change? He hasn’t chosen anyone “new,” no one “different,” instead he has chosen the same ole’ same ole’:

President-elect Barack Obama promised the voters change but has started his Cabinet selection process by naming several Washington insiders to top posts.

Obama is enlisting former Senate leader Tom Daschle as his health secretary. Hillary Rodham Clinton, a well-known Washington personality, seemed more likely than ever to be his secretary of state. Clinton is deciding whether to take that post as America’s top diplomat, her associates said Wednesday

Obama is ready to announce that his attorney general will be Eric Holder, the Justice Department’s No. 2 when Clinton’s husband was president. Rahm Emanuel, Obama’s chief of staff, is another veteran of the Clinton White House.

Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano is Obama’s primary choice to be secretary of the Homeland Security Department, several news organizations reported Thursday. The New York Times, citing Democrats with knowledge of the process, said Napolitano was about to be offered the job. The Washington Post also reported that she was Obama’s choice.

Washington insiders and more lobbyist connections, including Daschle whose wife has worked as a lobbyist for the airline companies for many years AND he himself has been a lobbyist for the health industry. But whats another lobbyist when you already have a dozen in the pocket?

The left is getting a bit miffed themselves:

When is Obama going to appoint someone who reflects the progressive base that brought him to the White House?

It’s humorous actually. Us conservatives have been saying for a few years now that the man is not about change, just your everyday typical politician who can read a good speech. The left on the other hand saw the messiah incarnate. Someone who could do no wrong and because he said he would change things, they actually thought he would.

Who woulda thunk it? A Chicago politician who lied.

How about his campaign promises:

“no political appointees in an Obama administration will be permitted to work on regulations or contracts directly and substantially related to their prior employer for two years.”

Which seems to make his appointment of Daschle a conflict of interest but they thought of that. Being the good Chicago politician he created a loophole by saying it only applies to lobbyists who must register with the Federal government.

many people who work for lobbying firms or in other areas of the influence business in Washington do not have to register, because they do not personally lobby federal officials on specific issues.

And just like that another Washington insider and lobbyist makes it onto his team….

Ch-ch-change!

But it’s not only the MSM who are perplexed. Many of the far left denizens are also. Just for this occasion Scott created a category sometime back called “Dem eat Dem,” and looking over the Obamatrons at Dummies U, who a month ago held Obama up as the next savior, we find much hand wringing going on. This post entitled “This is change” brought out the attack dogs who accused the poster of Bitching.

Then we get lefties coming to grips with the reality of non-change with a Obama administration:

Doesn’t bode well for his turning the clock back on the vast expansion of executive branch powers that his predecessor implemented. Oh well, I suppose we can learn to live without the Constitution under an Obama administration too.

Bush does it, and they scream bloody murder. Obama does it and its…”oh well.”

Funny how that works.

It’s going to be a long four years but keep the popcorn handy. It’s going to get quite interesting.
